3 Men Who Prayed For Days Non-Stop Fasted 40 Days Dry In 3 Different Eras The 3 men are namely, Moses, Jesus (Son of God), and Ayodele Babalola. Moses represented the old testament, while Jesus and Ayodele Babalola represent the former and latter part of the new testament respectively. Despite emerging from 3 different eras, these 3 men were each known to have been fervent in prayer to the point of praying for days nonstop. They also happened to be among the few men in history to have successfully completed the forty days marathon dry fast. The results of their fervent prayers and fasting speak for themselves, as these 3 men were also known to have produced the height of manifestations of the Spirit and power of God in their separate eras. This thread is devoted to some of their extraordinary prayer and fasting exploits which they were kind enough to share with us and also the astonishing results that consequently followed. God bless.

1. Moses Deuteronomy 9:18-19 (KJV) And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also. Deuteronomy 9:25-26 (KJV) Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you. I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. Exodus 31:18 (KJV) And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. Exodus 33:11 (KJV) And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Exodus 34:35 (KJV) And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him. Numbers 16:28-33 (KJV) And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. |

2. Jesus (Son of God) Matthew 4:1-2 (KJV) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. Luke 4:13-14 (KJV) And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. Luke 6:17-19 (KJV) And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. Mark 4:39-41 (KJV) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? Matthew 14:24-26 (KJV) But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. John 11:41-45 (KJV) Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. Matthew 17:2-3 (KJV) And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. |

3. Ayodele Babalola The prayer and fasting exploits of Ayodele Babalola though weren't among those recorded in the Bible as the other 2, since they weren't achieved during Bible days but long afterwards, however they were as good as any recorded in the bible days, hence could have had a good chance for inclusion had Ayodele Babalola lived in the Bible era. The man prayed so much that his knees melted the mountain to leave huge holes on the hard rock which remains there til date. He could pray for three days nonstop. Once he started praying around 9:00 p.m on Sunday and by the time he said a closing “In Jesus’ Name I pray”, it was Wednesday evening. The surprising thing is that, by the time he finished praying, he apologized for prolonging the evening prayer a little longer and then told those praying with him to go and sleep but they all laughed at him and told him, "Baba, you have prayed for three days. We left you most of the time and have been going about our normal duties. Today is not Sunday but Wednesday. You have been standing on your feet praying for three days." Once he had asked his fellow ministers to kneel down for a short prayer and his short prayer lasted about six hours to their astonishment. Moreover apostle Babalola could spend time on the mountain for many days with absolute fasting of neither water nor food. He is said to have fasted dry for 40 days and nights more than twice in his life. Once after praying for hours he heard the sound of a moving object in which the Lord instructed him not to open his eyes. As he continued in prayer without opening his eyes a large python crawled over him. After God instructed him to open his eyes, he opened and saw just a little distance from where he was lying down, the same python had been roasted as if an electric current had shocked it. Hence God told him that he had turned him into the coal of fire and that he had now become untouchable from evil powers. God used him to sack heathen temples, disgrace principalities and gods of the land, raze forbidden forests and ancient territories to stamp apostolic power in the land and in many places where Christ had never been named. He made clear to the land, sea and air that Jehovah reigns and Jesus Christ is the only Lord. Cultic objects and paraphernalia surrendered in his revivals have never been witnessed in the history of this nation either before him or aſter him. There are at least more than 15 persons resuscitated from death confirmed by eyewitnesses through him which we have been able to establish to actual figures. On one particular occasion, he was meant to attend a crusade but his wife locked him up inside his room and refused to open the door despite all his pleas to her. However by the time the crusade had started, he had disappeared from the room and appeared on the crusade ground preach, with the room still locked to his wife's utter shock. God used his servant Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola to trigger a spiritual awakening during his time. This revival ushered people into a season of strange signs, wonders and occurrences. On one occasion during a great revival in Oye, a town in Ilesa in Osun state, in the year 1932, many were healed of a deadly malaria that swept across the land at a point where medical drugs were scarce among countless other mighty works God did via through via his ministry. His dedicated prayer life and the manifestation of signs and wonders through charismatic gifts exposed the weakness and emptiness of most of the existing churches at the same time. Despite passing away in the year 1959, the remarkable prayer life of apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola continues to be a challenge and inspiration to present and future generations of Christians, including some of the leading church leaders of this day. God bless. |

The testimonies and exploits of the extraordinary prayer lives of these 3 men, led by the greatest of all time and prayer Master Himself, Jesus, isn't meant to intimidate or scare anyone but to inspire and challenge us. Even i that shared it here haven't reached their level of fervency in prayer and fasting yet, but I don't feel intimated by their astonishing testimonies, instead I feel profoundly inspired and challenged by them. It's actually the 40 days marathon dry fasting of Jesus and Moses that also inspired my own mini marathon dry fasting which lasted 9 days. That fasting proved to be the crucial launching pad for all the great things God is using me to accomplish today, hence it wasn't surprising that the thread whereby I shared that experience here also turned out to be one of, if not my most impactful thread here til date. https://www.nairaland.com/6443340/what-happened-me-when-attempted#99590178 It's only the shallow-minded christians who are spiritually lazy hence not willing to pay the price and put in the efforts as those mentioned spiritual giants, that would feel intimidated or offended by their sharing of such amazing testimonies and exploits of their prayer lives. Those of us who were not ready to settle for anything less but earnestly desire to be also used by God to such rare dimension of the Spirit, are glad they shared their extraordinary experiences and testimonies of their prayer lives with us, otherwise we may never get to have such to draw inspiration from and be challenged to achieve likewise. God bless. |

When God used me to claim the first Atheist scalp here for NL Christians since the inception of this forum in just the first couples of month of preaching here, I'm pretty certain no one here but myself knew there was once a time I'd left my life of comfort, and gone into a bushy place likened to a wilderness laid down on the bare floor asking God to "use me or I die", and was there for 9 days without food or water under the scorching heat of the sun and freezing cold of the early hours. Many thought the unprecedented feat was merely coincidental but I knew very well the difficult process and preparation I had endured before I was able to produce such outstanding results. It came at a hefty personal cost as a result of the determination not to end up ordinary as the average Christian, but to be used by God to accomplish great and mighty things as He did such spiritual giants, therefore it's hardly by accident that God is using me to also achieve such things that seemed impossible with men. So don't let anyone deceive you that you don't have to be fervent in prayer to be able to achieve such extraordinary results, and that the required process or preparation can be bypassed by grace or faith. Each of the three examples of arguably the most powerful men of God from 3 different eras in history, including this which many call the era of grace, has already proven that idea to be an illusion, since the required process and preparation of fervent prayers and even fasting before they were able to produce such distinctive results didn't change irrespective of the era. This also applied to all those spiritual giants i didn't mention here, including Smith Wigglesworth, who still went through a similar process. The first time i heard about a hardened floor denting to the weight and power of God's presence was with Smith Wigglesworth's fervent prayer life. That was long before I got to hear a similar thing had happened to the hardened rock somewhere in Nigeria because of the fervent prayers of Ayo Babalola, despite being in an entirely different part of the world with Smith Wigglesworth's another spiritual giant God used to display His power and mighty works to a rare at about the same period even though he may have never met or heard about Ayo Babalola while yet alive. So the process is the same and never changes when it comes to be fervent in prayer and also fasting for everyone who want to become a carrier of God's tangible power as those spiritual giants. That's why i won't relent despite how far God has brought me in my prayer life and the distinctive results it's produced thus far, because I know I'm not there yet but still got a long way to go in prayers and fastings to be able to unlock the full potential of the Spirit of God upon my life. It's my earnest prayer before i depart this world that i would have become 100% led by the Spirit of God as Jesus was. God bless. |

Elijah also fasted for 40days and 40nights. It is by special grace, however Jesus has made much more grace to abound in this age that a consistent spiritual life and fellowship with the Holy spirit produces immeasurable power. |

lecowas:None of those 3 actually intended to fast for 40 days. Rather, they ended up spending so much time in the presence of God and forgot to eat, thanks to their God of Israel and all. ![]() Op, however, thinks those compare to a Nigerian make who probably not only prepared himself well to imitate them, but probably also had people on the side to help pack meals and ensure he was able to endure for the 40 day period of his attempt. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 There are infact many other examples of men who also attempted imitating the same feat that his babalola(god of men) there attempted. There is Ghandi, the Buddha...heck many Hindu monks engage in such fasting exercises to date. But those can't be mentioned by OP because he has to ignorantly claim the glory here only for his god of men and even throw in the stewpid fervent prayer nonsense in the basket as well. As if Buddhist and monks don't already hold the record when it comes to such. 🙄 ** For those who are not in the know, Buddhist monks pray more than you all do or can. They are literally bankrolled by their adherents to do exactly that, hence the reason why they dedicate much of their waking hours to such exercises. |
