To those of you who keep emphasizing that one's salary account should ONLY show salary received every month, please don't forget that there are several instances where applicants receive additional income from end of year bonuses/allowances credited to their salary account by their employers.

Let's say someone's regular monthly salary is 880k Naira and the total additional income received over a three-month period is about 1.6 million Naira. This 1.6 million Naira was received between November 2024 and January 2025, including a one-off commission of about 34k Naira received in January 2025. Can this 1.6 million Naira be reported as additional income from the applicant's employer on the application and will it be factored into the disposable income calculation?

Including the regular monthly salary to the bonuses/allowances received, total inflow in November 2024 is at least 1.3 million, and at least 2 million Naira in December 2024. However, expenses in November 2024 were still less than 50% of the total inflows in November, December's expenses were also still less than 50% of the total inflows in December, but increased to about 900k due to increased expenses during the festive season and the higher income.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237:
What’s hard to understand here? The payments you are citing don’t come from nowhere; they originate from your employers, and you need to provide proof of that. I feel you might be overanalyzing the situation and everything concerning visit visa as per most of your comments. Not everything requires over analysis such as this.
You can demonstrate the origin of funds with evidence. I don’t see what’s difficult to grasp about what others have explained.
Your organisation is not the first to pay bonuses. In a year all your bonuses and all your salaries equate to what your annual income is… a monthly average of this total amount is gotten by dividing by 12. Whether you like it or not that is how annual income is calculated.

All the other talk of salary for this month and bonus for month B, expenses for this month and tht month are not needed here.
If you have to mention to make things clearer to the ECO which is very advisable, you have the additional information section on your visa form to explain and tell them everything you need to say- that is what that space is for OR direct them to your cover letter.

Additionally, the comments have said- Make sure the account you submit for your visa is free from unnecessary deposits, as this can raise red flags.
You can have 20 or more accounts left where you withdraw and deposit without any recourse but these would not be submitted. Unexplained deposits in the one you are SUBMITTING might confuse the ECOs and so they are advocating to keep it clean. This is straightforward.

Try and chill please.
It is a visit visa.

I have like 4m already in the account, that would sum up to like 7million by that time , does that work. I am applying with my 10 year old son.For accommodation, I would be staying with my sister and can she write a supporting letter that she will support our expenses there
Yes, that will work. Your sister can give you a letter to confirm she will accomodate you.

Good luck!

Ah, this is honestly very strange! Are they expecting your monthly expenditures to be constant from Month A to Month B to Month C? Don't they know that expenses fluctuate? For instance, if your income increases in a particular month, it only makes sense that there'll be higher expenses in that month.

Merge the cover letter with other documents you're uploading online. If you're doing self-upload online on the VFS portal, you're not required to carry any hardcopy with you for biometrics except for your appointment letter.

Good luck.

Hello

My sister is applying for a masters of research which allows dependants still. Her husband is currently on a graduate visa in the UK.
Can he switch to her visa as a dependant?

Please I have questions to ask about your brother that was given visa with a divine 4m account balance.

1)How much is your brothers monthly income?

2) how much is living expenses?

This will encourage other with low account balance.

I really don’t know how my cousin got that visa honestly , I will just say the officer on duty just liked his face.
He gets about 480k I think, I don’t know his living expenses, all I know his parents left him a big house.
I won’t advice anybody to go apply now with that amount cuz Omo it was a miracle.
Lots of deposit in the account but they didn’t flag any of it.
So it’s just his grace.
I think the rate now is another thing, maybe the person who check his didn’t take note of the oanda rate. But in all just to be on the same side, have good money in the bank.

Please I’m really going to need every single contribution I can get as I’m about to submit my MIL application.
Important to say she was denied twice last year. The first was because of unexplained funds in her account while the second was because she applied 2 months after the first refusal and they said she should have waited for her circumstances to change.
Now she’s retired and it’s been 4 months since the second refusal and we want to apply for her again but I’ve got questions.
1. Her expenses are higher than her pension but she’s still got over a million naira in her account. This is because she’s been using that account to receive salary and obviously hasn’t blown all the money she earned in her working days. So will this be an issue?
2. The place where it asks if she’s got any additional income. Should she choose only pension or both pension and savings?
The dilemma is that even if she chooses both, she has only one account to provide for both.
The pensions part will ask how much pension she receives per annum. It’s easy to calculate by multiplying by 12 but the issue is she hasn’t earned pension for up to a year yet and the balance in the account like I said earlier is money from her employment days like salaries and leave allowances.
If she clicks on savings it asks how much money she has in savings, is it best to write the closing balance of the account in GBP as her savings?
She’s not contributing to the trip anyway but they will ask for her account statement hence why I’m asking.
Thanks all

1. Yes, it might be an issue

2. Additional income can be money she gets from her children. Right now, her pension is her main income. She needs to declare savings somewhere else in the form.

With 2 refusals back to back and another application 4 months after the second refusal - my honest advise is for you to wait at least 6 months before she reapplies. As it is, it appears that her statement of account is not in good shape and another refusal might be loading...

If you decide to proceed, I wish you all the best. Keep us informed.

Like how much is save to budget for flights of economic class for 1 adult?
N2Million is fine. Some tickets are slightly lower or slightly higher - depending on the airline and period of your travel. Summer and Christmas tickets are quite expensive.

Budgeting between N1.3 and 1.5 million using airlines like Kenya Airways, RwandAir or Qatar Airways for instance is also fine.

The most we can wait for is to apply next month (February) because we need her here. I agree her expenses is terribly high but her inflow is pretty decent only from her previous employer where she retired and from the pension board.
Lastly I can tick both the pension and savings on the application form right? Because like I said the balance on her pension account is definitely from her savings while working.

Post the both refusals after redacting personal information. Also careful with ‘the most we can wait talk’… if they deny her again… you will still wait… no matter how sad it is.. you will wait.. even if it means waiting for PAP, review, reconsideration or re-application.

2. She visited our GP about twice when she was not feeling well, she also got registered and had her NHS number. Do I declare it and what impact do you sense it will have in the application.
You have to declare it, if you don’t and they cross check: you’ll get the 10 years ban for telling lies. No 2 ways about it. Better to be safe than sorry.
Pls next time don’t dabble into medical care whilst in the UK on a VISIT visa for free as it is majorly for the residents and tax payers. Emergency care upto staying in Accident and Emergency is what is free for visitors. Getting medicines etc is not a free service. I am sure you know this as per the guidelines.

Any husband? What would be the home ties?
Sometimes they overlook the account statements as long as other documents show strong ties that the person must come back especially for older/aged applicants.

Not necessarily. Even if you download the bank statement directly from your bank app, VFS system could still randomly tag it as virus-infected.
