The hearing in the impersonation case against Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, immediate-past Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki’s appointed deputy by the immediate-past Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has again been adjourned to 11th of March, 2025.

The adjournment followed the appearance of the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie who announced the disengagement of all the respondent(Omobayo)s’ counsel, Ken Mozia, SAN and others by the state government.

The AG told the court that since he assumed office for the past two months, nobody briefed him about the case, hence in his capacity as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state, he has to take over the case.

It would be recalled that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja last year declared null and void the alleged impeachment of Comrade Shaibu in his declarative judgement.

Refused access to his office as deputy governor by the then Governor Obaseki, Shaibu approached the court for contempt against Obaseki’s imposed deputy, Omobayo. First, with form 48 and later, form 49, which is contempt of court and impersonation as deputy governor of the state.

With this latest development, pundits believe that Omobayo may be heading to Kuje prison unless both parties reach for out of court settlement.

However, the case has been adjourned for hearing to 11th March, 2025.

two things I learn from this case.

1. Crush your enemy totally: Apc and Governor Monday are out to finish everything that will make obasaki and pdp smell that power in edo, by doing so they Don't want to leave challenges half-finished, winning is the only option here.

2. Despise the free lunch: Free things are often dangerous because they may involve a trick or hidden obligation.

Omobayo don buy market! Now that Obaseki is out of the picture, e be like say wahala go start for am. Edo State don take over the case, disengage him lawyers, and with all these legal wahala, e fit just end up in Kuje prison if dem no settle am out of court. Politics no get loyalty—one minute you’re untouchable, next minute you’re on your own!

Meaning he's in this government (federal) or has a connect in the presidency. Those condemning him here don't know anything. He's rolling with your bosses.

Pls tell us how he would walk free. I'm not a lawyer but with my experience in Law in my 1st and 2nd degree, I'll handle the Case and he will find himself in Kuje prison.

A Court of competent jurisdiction warned him to stop answering deputy governor, he was still seen at state events being addressed as such. The videos of him in the office of the dep gov, riding in dep gov car, etc are available.

I hope he would go and dobale for Baba oshomhole if he doesn't want to go to jail.

Trust Obaseki, it doesn't concern him.
