An old video where Philip Shaibu, former deputy governor of Edo, said a prayer for Omobayo Godwins, his successor, is making the rounds on the internet.

In the clip, Shaibu can be seen praying for Godwins at an event.

“From strength to strength and from glory to glory. And because I’m older than him, he’s supposed to be better than me and that is why I prayed for him to grow higher than me,” the former deputy governor said in Pidgin English.

TheCable could not immediately ascertain when the video was recorded.

Shaibu was impeached as deputy governor of the state on Monday, following the adoption of the report of a seven-member investigative panel.

He was accused of “misconduct, perjury and disclosure of government secrets”.

Some social media users said Shaibu’s prayer for Godwins was prescient given all that has transpired.

“I think life itself is a mystery. Just months ago, impeached deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, proclaimed that the present deputy governor, Omobayo Marvellous Godwins, would be greater than him,” a social media user posted.

“Months down the line, he took over his office.”

Godwins was sworn in as deputy governor immediately after Shaibu’s impeachment.

It's the prayers of every elder for the younger one.

Becoming a Deputy Governor by this controversial alleged hook and crook of a treacherous Boss is not the kind of promotion he probably referred to when he prayed for him. The new guy is a pawn in the Chess game of betrayal between both Shaibu and his Principal who both betrayed their political benefactor, HE Adams Oshiomhole.

Philips the disgraced and impeached deputy governor.

Obaseki gave him too much power , he was in charge of sports , revenue , local government and 3 times acting governor for one month each, all through their 7 years together .

Obaseki told him you can have the security votes of N500m each of the months he was acting governor.

He attended functions, he saw himself as a co-governor .. He started to move faster than his shadow ..

Imagine a deputy governor, a spare tire saying His choice for speaker of the house is different from that of the governor and it must stand ..

For people saying Philips betrayed Oshiomole ..

Philips never betrayed Oshiomole. Philips was fighting for his deputy governor seat, so that he can advance his evil agenda to become governor.

Did you really think Philips will have sat back and allowed Oshiomole boot him from office to become an ordinary politician?

Remember, in Edo, it’s off cycle elections . That means Philips won’t have access to any political position for the next 3 years if he didn’t fight.

Also, Edos Voted for Obaseki and not because Phillips was on the ballot. Obaseki fought for his disloyal deputy to be on the ballot in PDP, that’s what caused the problem in PDP that brought about the legacy group.

Philips also caused problem between Wike and Obaseki.

Are you seeing what I am seeing now ?

Even if a goat was the running mate for Obaseki , he would have still won the re-election.

Shaibu over estimates himself, he has never won his local government without the help of Oshiomole. Since they both parted ways , his political powers has been exposed to be a fraud.

Shaibu is a liability, as you can see .. nobody even protested in solidarity for him.

How did he ever think the would have been governor ? cheesy

Social media world sha just for post and traffic

This kind of prayer is a normal prayer that a good senior or elder will pray for his junior

In this case the prayer is not playing out because omobayo is not greater than him yet and to be greater than him you don’t need to take his position (before you quote me I know it’s not the doing of Omobayo to take his position)

Let stop twisting prayer because of social media posts/traffic
