‘I Don’t Pretend’ — El-rufai Says He Can’t Be A Nollywood Actor In Governance by Islie(op): 3:54pm On Feb 02, 2025
Nasir el-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna, says he does not pretend and cannot be one of the politicians who become “Nollywood actors” once in government.

Recently, el-Rufai has been involved in a public war of words with some members of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The spat began after the former Kaduna governor criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for “straying away from its core values” and said he no longer recognises his political party.

El-Rufai’s comment struck a chord within the presidency, and Daniel Bwala, a presidential aide, asked el-Rufai if his take on the APC would have been different if he were a member of Tinubu’s cabinet.

Reacting to Bwala’s remark, el-Rufai said he would still criticise APC even if he had been involved in the Tinubu administration.

On Saturday, in a post on his X account, the former Kaduna governor aimed another jibe at those he claimed become actors once they get into political office.

He was responding to a post by a social media user, @irahabib.

The day I read El-Rufai’s book titled Accidental Public Servant, I concluded that no politician would want @elrufai in their cabinet unless they genuinely intend to develop this country. He doesn’t know how to pretend,” Habib wrote.

In response, el-Rufai wrote, “Thanks for your kind words, @irahabib. Truly, I don’t know how to pretend. Being a Nollywood actor in governance is for some others, not some of us. Have a nice day.”

Re: ‘I Don’t Pretend’ — El-rufai Says He Can’t Be A Nollywood Actor In Governance by AMINDA:
Facts. Elrufai is no pretender. Tinubu already knew his confirmation was not going to scale through, so why did he publicly made him promise to stay back and work with him? That move alone by Tinubu is what is costing him the trust and support of Northerners today, because they always thought he was a man of his word.

It was simply a coup done to take Elrufai out of the 2031 conversation. That was a strategic mistake because it came too early and he is a very formidable foe for anyone to have. Elrufai is a career politician and there's nothing wrong with him aspiring for the presidency after Tinubu. Buhari let all aspirants under APC to contest after his tenure. I guess that's a problem for the President because he apparently never forgave all who contested alongside him, including Osibanjo. So much for being a democrat.

If indeed, it was Shettima and co who convinced the president to ditch Elrufai as some people allege, then they simply did it to pave the way for themselves. How is that democratic and where is the internal democracy? Is APC now a monarchy where a successor will be annointed? Say what you will, Elrufai worked sincerely to deliver the President and the results simply proved how unsellable and difficult a task that was. Whosoever he supported before the primaries is irrelevant because he didn't sign any pact with Tinubu.

Whatever El Rufai, Bala Mohammed or Atiku say against this government can't surprise me. With the way southerners like fayose and wike mounted serious opposition against Buhari's government, I expect northerners to replicate the same to Tinubu. I'll even say north has not lived up to my expectations. The biggest critic and opposition against this government should come from the north, not south.

Nigeria is so terrible that this scum, one day, will become president.

That is exactly how we never believed that the filth called Buhari would ever become president, but somehow it happened.

That is how we never believed that the bad dream called Ebola Tifnubu would become president, and here we are.

Now I am no more interested in Nigerian news. I just focus on the news concerning my guy Donald Chukwudi Jibrin Segun Trump (SAW, PBUH).

That even Kaduna rep members rejected El Rufai because of how he governed , yet you blame Tinubu. It is well with your soul
