Multiply the cost of an average sized tuber by 50k pieces and then you know how much these guys are raking in annually. The funny thing is that they're all very frugal in lifestyle.

In a space of a few months, less than 6 months, this is the 3rd person I'm meeting that got quite comfortable, within a short space from Agricultural and farming.
Leased a land, planted crops, harvested, made money.
It was fairly straightforward.
I know others, but these ones I know from very close, not too far, some I've known many years ago, now they now got better financially. Much much better

I like when other professionals who the society applauds are begging me to sell my yams to them like their life depends on it (of course it does 😉).


All those things they do to me in the hospital when I need medication, I do it back to them. I even tell them to get out of they don't want to buy my goods. Lol

Like every other profession, we put in the work when it's time and reap the rewards with time.

Even in Benue that produces yam.... I have met more farmers that farm for self consumption.... We made order couple of weeks ago.... The transport cost alone to Lagos nearly eroded protected margins.... Now if we reject the yam... What other markets can the Farmer go to.... All these senseless topics

You are right. That's the basic training and orientation you get while on internship.

You must not show off your wealth, regardless of the situation. You must be "down to earth so the earth will always bless you with bountiful harvest".

There is also a security reason for that. Remember, even as we make millions, we also put it back into the business and save some for unforeseen circumstances which will definitely happen. Situations such as kidnapping of farm staff, destruction of crops by herders, altercations and disputes with locals, chief settlements etc.


Also remember that we work closely with the locals and If you don't behave like them, they will hurt you.

I have meet many hausas that are farmers that left because of insecurities.... Met many middle belt people who left because of insecurities.... And all have in common is that timing of rain is essentially for certain crops.... Now I ask myself how many hecters of land do this so called rich folks harvest..... What is the demand and supply equation... Don't just put lazy topics and think everyone is gullible....

If you want to go to into farming, make your research very well, I know someone who is farming that has made losses, he even studied agriculture at the university.

Insecurity is the biggest challenge, the second challenge is lack of education in financial management. Do your due diligence before venturing into something that might drain all your resources because of paid influencers on nairaland.

What they experience everyday is shocking.
You will plant acres of corn, when the corn has reached a certain maturity, you sell it to a fulani man or a farmer who dine with the authority. And they sell is really cheap. If you refuse, one day,fulani and their cattle will feast on it and you dare not say a word.
Every month, farmers pay levies.
They will flog you in front of police and nothing happens.

Most of them abandoned their lands and ran. The abandoned lands are taken over by the fulani.

It is hell on earth up there.
And you will never see this on the news.
Talk and they will set your entire generation on fire.
