Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Jeboy(m):
We all know that the international student Open Work Permit mobility program is what international students use in bringing their spouses and dependent children or minor to Canada. Int'l students' status give room for OWP qualification and then dependent children.

Can you apply for dependent children study alone without linking it to a parent who holds/will hold an Intl Student visa or an OWP via the mobility program? There lies the answer, just take the OWP (head) away and dependent (study visa) is cut off. Intl Student brings FDI so it is economically viable to avoid recession.

The whole idea is Canada wants to reduce foreign immigration population to barely 5% due to social infrastructure which they say is currently overstretched.

They can only accommodate spouse with in-demand skills as trade-off to allowing that foreign population number because it comes as a win-win not dependents.

They know foreign dependents takes toll on schools, healthcare, housing and these are the things they want to reduce. It all pure National Immigration Policy to preserve their social infrastructure. Look at the policy with the big picture (goals and objectives).

Yes you are correct owp.

Are you saying what you think it should be or what the law clearly states?
You also forget that there are single parents that don't have spouses that would be interested in taking their kids along or intl students that their spouses aren't even interested in going to Canada. In those cases, the intl student travel with the kids.

The current revised policy is clear, dependent kids eligible for school still get to travel and study in Canada.

You have a strong point here.

I’m just wondering why you choose to apply alongside your mum as dependent…you’re just reducing your chances, sorry to say... Canada is currently hunting down dependents, probably because of one country that will carry their full extended family along. But if you’re a minor, not a bad one.

The best you could’ve done, was to apply alone…using your mum even as home tie. Then apply for her, after your visa has been granted.

Well…I wish you all the best.

As I am still regarded as minor. year of birth 2008. She will be accompaning parent. My cousin did that with his dad last year

You’re good to go bro. Reading your SOP, you’ve cleared my doubt.

Hope you’re coming to BC….the state with one of the best weather in the world, although expensive to live in…but you’ll definitely going to love it 😍

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Jeboy(m):
I am just curious here and let's analyze it.

You guys believe the target for dependents are just for Family Open Work Permits right?

So if someone says oh yeah your kids can come to school as minor in Canada but hey they can't have the privilege for work during or after high school....what is the goal after being a student? Probably they will need to have a post secondary education to earn their pgwp right and not enjoy family open work permit.

That's practically more burden for foreign Nationals as your kids can't qualify for high school jobs like others to help them save towards their education. This is at a time people are saying cost of living is high and there are no jobs. It still boils to my earlier point that for now they are not oriented to allow the foreign immigrant population to grow. They just don't want to tell it to your face that they don't want children dependent of foreign immigrants to come school in Canada.

Welcome to this thread, you need to find a university that accepts your class of graduation, and before you select a program you also need to consider your work experience if you have any.
you will finda university that accepts your grade amd the course must be similar to the one you studied

how about one person goes, then brings his children when they secure permanent residency. With the current situation in the country right now its not advisable to even come with kids unless you coming as PR

Good day house. Trust we all are doing great today.
Please is there any update on when Ontario will issue the new PALS? I've been admitted to study Mobile application development at fanshwe college ontario and my PAL expired on the 21st of January 2025 before I could submit my visa application and I'm for May 2025 intake.
I honestly don't know if I'll be able to get the new PAL in time to submit my visa application and get a visa decision before 5th of May 2025.

They probably want to limit foreigners taking jobs that Canadian children will do including assylum seekers with open work permit waiting for decisions on assylum claims...
And reducing burden on healthcare system owp holder is eligible to province health coverage unlike international student.

Excellent, that PR is the icing on the cake. Thats the strategy foreign immigrants should adopt for life to be easy.

Just saying 😄

Canada dey para major…because of one country wey Dey pack community come per study permit.

Thank God for you.

Congratulations my brother, I’m so happy you didn’t give up…

It’s best you drop it off at their office, and they’ll return it back to your address after stamping.

For your wife and kid…if you can apply for them right away, if you meet the POF criteria and have enough for their flight and living expenses.

Once again, the Great White North, awaits your arrival…Everywhere good here.

Hey,
I would advice you write the school after two weeks, if they have not responded…be so emotional in your situation, that would give them a pointer how badly you need it…

Most schools has been given a cap on PAL…so, don’t sleep on your application.

I guess now is the best time to pay fees, as Naira has become a little stronger.

You should be focusing more on…
* Prayer to the almighty to direct your steps.

1. Writing your SOP.
2. Getting you POF documents ready.
3. Making plans for Upfront medicals.

Finally, Avoid using agent, there are so many resource here to guide you and …make AI is your buddy.

Cheers🥂

Please do you have an idea if DLI's have started issuing new PALS? My PAL expired this January 2025 before I was ready for visa application as I'm for May 2025 intake in Ontario.
Thanks

Hello everyone!

Firstly, please I would like to know if it's possible to secure a study permit to Canada for 2 years diploma program after one has completed a masters program in the UK. I did MSc Automation and Control and the delivery didn't meets my carrier objectives because it was more theoretical than I expected. I like hands-on skills and the college in Canada offers that with internship term for practical and industrial experience. I have already received LOA from college to study Power Engineering Technology, first year fees all paid and I am currently waiting for PAL to be issued so that I can proceed on visa application. My first degree back in Nigeria was in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Power System Engineering Option). Please I need some valid points for my SOP to be convincing enough to secure me a study permit. I know some people might say I should not declare my masters to the visa officer but I have done that already to the college while applying for admission. I think the visa officer might be asking what brought me to the UK because I am still there on my post study work visa. I am open to good ideas and suggestions on how to convince the visa officer that my study plans are genuine. Thank you!

Good evening bro. Congrats on the achievements so far and your LOA being issued to study in Canada. I'm equally waiting for my PAL to be issued before proceeding for my visa application for May intake.
I believe the gurus in the house will give you great advise on how to go about the SOP. Good luck

I would advice you to write to the school or better still, put a call across to school of graduate studies…the government has further cut down PAL to intl students…I got an email as regards this on my school website.

So, brace yourself up and put that call across.

Cheers.
