Two days ago, I was trying to get my students excited about valentine, I was sort of shocked about the response I got.

"Valentine is for boyfriend and girlfriend" one said.

"We Don't celebrate valentine, it's a sin" another added.

Shocked but okay, i saw the problem. I am a new teacher and i don't know what to make of this but I won't let this dangerous notions float in my kids heads.

So i took my time to explain what valentine was about how and how important it was for them to use it as an opportunity always to show gratitude, thankfulness and support to those who care deeply about them and also even the strangers in need of help.

I told them to always ensure they celebrate it. And made them pick their names rolled up to share gifts to one another tomorrow. (14/02/2025)

I told them it was important they learn to express and show gratitude to friends, family and people in their lives who support, guide, advice and care about them always. And told them various stories about the importance of gratitude.

For the first time, i got a feeling they were genuinely excited. I honestly can't wait for tomorrow to see the kids.


However, I wont be celebrating valentine tomorrow, I have never really celebrated it nor my birthdays or really a big fan of celebrations since I knew me.

Back then, it was more of I been shy and timid around people, so i never went on any real successful dates so I accepted and believed celebrations were not my thing.

Until this year, for the first time, i really wanted to celebrated it with the lady in my life who has really been God's blessings to me. For the first time I just wished i could tell her thank you for been a great and wonderful person to me, nothing fancy, nothing out of the ordinary.

I was hoping i could cook some meal and invite her over just to say thank you. However my request for an advance pay from my job has been denied. I got the crushing news too late after i had made plans with her.

I had made plans and now, I have to cancel them. I know she won't say she doesn't mind and really she doesn't, that's how wonderful she is plus she is also not big on valentine, thanks to how some people tend to see the VALENTINE day lol. But I can't help but feel hurt about it. I just wanted to say thank you really.


She has been a supportive, prayerful, strong and trustworthy partner who has dedicated her time to see us work towards our goals of settling down together.

For the first time, I really felt like just surprising her, not the 4 naira text or 100 naira airtime call to say happy new month,happy birthday, happy new year, or something.

I will make it up to her some how even though time and time again, she has proven never to be worried about small beginnings and to stay strong and prayerful in difficult situations. I do wish when i get paid this month end i will get her something eventually.


As for my kids tomorrow, i have to put up a positive energy and attitude and encourage them to show true agape love and gratitude to one another. Thats what I grew up to know valentine day to be.

But Behind the smiles tomorrow , I knew what I would have been able to do better. A simple cooked lunch and a thank you to the one person who God has really used to blessed me so far in life.



How would you be spending your valentine day tomorrow? Please celebrate and say thank you to people in your life tomorrow. Even your voice can be a perfect gift to someone tomorrow.

Well, actually not necessarily. I spoke to her today and told her my intentions she thinks we can work it out. And i trust her to be very resourceful, i believe we are going to get something done together, i a pulling up some change and she is doing too.. . Lol she was like is that why you are unhappy lol... Happy valentine to you all. Just celebrate it doesn't have to be grandeur event

Haha lol i don't really dig celebrations i don't know why, i used to be shy as a kid but now i just don't see them but a quiet dinner, or taking myself out lol no problem however i think this valentine was different. It was me just wanting to appreciate someone else in my life
