Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Gd0007(m): 6:12pm On Feb 13, 2025
Any advice for this below ?

Gd0007:
Good day, everyone. I need quick advice regarding my UK visa application. I've decided to include my wife in the application, and I have a closing balance of ₦10 million.

Here’s my estimated budget:

Air tickets for two: ₦2.8 million

Hotel: ₦1 million (or We may stay with my brother)

Feeding and other expenses: ₦1.5 million

Total: ₦5.3 million

Would this closing balance be sufficient for the application?

You can, but I would strongly advise obtaining a stamped and signed copy of your account statement from one of your Bank's branches, then upload a PDF version of this stamped and signed account statement as supporting documentation.

Having it stamped and signed proves authenticity and reduces the likelihood of them having to conduct background checks, especially if your Bank is a reputable one. Also try to include a reference letter as well, if you can.

To answer this question, may I please know what your average monthly earnings are like (including any additional income from allowances/bonuses) and your average monthly disposable income? You need to ensure that your proposed budget isn't significantly disproportionate to your average monthly earnings and average monthly disposable income when applying, or else wahala go dey.

Your finances and disposable income are not bad at all. There aren't many Nigerians with an average monthly disposable income of at least 600,000 Naira, so you're obviously comfortable financially. If you end up staying with your brother to cut costs (which I highly recommend), I'd say budget anything between 1,200 and 1,500 GBP for a week (including a round-trip flight), but if you choose to stay in a hotel, I'd say budget between 1,500 GBP and 2,000 GBP (max) for a week. Try to be as conservative as possible when budgeting for your trip to increase the likelihood of a successful visa application, then if your visa is granted, you can choose to spend as much as you want to spend in the UK. Good luck!

Yes, assuming you and your wife don't plan to spend extravagantly. You can budget an amount between 1,500 and 2,000 GBP for you and your wife, which is still conservative for two people since I budgeted just 1,200 GBP for myself and was granted. Look for a cheap round-trip flight for two people and try to keep costs minimal for the both of you, then if your visa is granted, you can choose to spend more. It's best to be as conservative as possible with your budget to maximize your chances of being granted the visa.

Ah this amount you quote for 2 people ??

In order to minimize budget can we use African airlines like Rwandair airline and the rest? cos African airlines usually cheaper than others, I hope it will not cause red flags

Hi Nairaland family, I need some guidance, please.
To sponsor someone for a UK visitor visa, can I use my UK bank letter only as the "evidence of funds available to you" or it must be my bank statement, please?
Also, must the person I want to sponsor provide his bank statement or my bank letter/statement alone is sufficient enough as evidence of funds, please for the person's visitor visa application?

Thank you.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by b31164707: 4:49am On Feb 15, 2025
Yes, you can. I used Kenya Airways to show my flight itinerary for the visa application and was granted. However, you can also use Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines. When I checked yesterday, a round-trip flight from Lagos to London via Doha on Qatar Airways was about 1.3m and Turkish Airlines is even cheaper, assuming you're planning to travel in March.

As the sponsor, you must provide your bank statement (covering at least a 3-month period) and the person you want to sponsor must also provide his bank statement (covering at least a 3-month period). To strengthen your case, a bank reference letter can also be provided to confirm the legitimacy of funds and the banking relationship.
