I rejected a financial service company offer in Lagos, because I need to relocate for the Job and the company is not willing to help with accommodation, I told them to take an upfront from my salary and get me a place they refuse.

But I'll have to work on Saturdays. It's remote position, though. I asked for 40 hours weekly and I'll have to decide my schedules.

The recruiter refused.

And I RAN.

Their schedule would have clashed with three other retainer remote jobs that I was on, that even pay FAR better than what they are offering.

Rejected one in Abuja in 2015. After passing all the interview. They said my pay was 50k. Me that was expecting at least 150k grin

. The Job didn't align well with my career path anyway. So I did the craziest thing. I told them I won't be working on Wednesdays as I needed to go for my midweek service. Saturday was also off as they worked on Saturdays, sometimes and impromptu.
The HR looked at me like I've asked for 2 of her kidneys and her entire colon grin

and then after some seconds blurted out a big "we don't do like that here".
Me sef say for my mind "no deal then" and that was it

It didn’t seem right for me to go to Edo State from Lagos with no relocation allowance, plus a lot of goofy behavior from the HR personnel. My wife had just lost a six-month pregnancy, which would have been our first child, our second miscarriage. Plus I had a personal revelation after weeks of praying and ask God, am I really going to Okpella in this condition and everything going on around me at the time??

In the final week before resumption, I got another offer from a fintech company in Ibadan with a relocation allowance, better pay and a more friendly work environment. I knew what to do at that instant. I sent the rejection of offer mail. It was the best decision at that time.

I am back in Lagos now, working for one of the biggest company in the manufacturing sector.

The conditions on the offer - below are the interpretations

You cannot work in a simillar industry within two years after resignation
You cannot engage in any business simillar to the employment within two years after resignation

Note, in this employment I was coming in with experience and ingenuity. Thus, this meant that I will have to remained employed with them for life.
