A bank guarantee is not a direct source of funds. You can’t take a bank guarantee to a multi billion dollar transaction table at the New York stock exchange. Plus the guarantee would have been a loan from the Bank of Qatar. That guy is a joker.

You can have a letter of credit or bank guarantee for emergency or working capital needs, not for a 4.5bn acquisition.

Think about it for a second. Proof of funds is usually a bank letter or investment certificates or evidence showing you personally have the funds for a transaction. Our guy went to a bank for a guarantee which even if accepted, would have been a debt from QNB with the club repaying the debt.

Any bank can provide a guarantee for a billion dollar transaction as long as the billion dollar assets being funded would be considered collateral if the guarantee is used.
