You don't need a degree to learn how to code. Forget the degree and just code

I mean there is no aspect of tech that Coursera doesn't have one or two lessons on. While some are in-depth, others are shallow. But you can be sure you'd have a course lesson on whichever tech skills you want to acquire.

Coursera is relatively free. I did a professional course on Coursera for free. I'm still running other courses as we speak. You can write to apply for aid. In two to three weeks it will be granted. But you have to make sure you finish the course at the time allotted for you to. If not, then you'd have to pay.

Thank you, I think I will check out that of Alison too. You're a great person. Thank you.
Wow, thanks. That was a great compliment. God bless you man!

I read your post on how you are finding it hard to break into tech.

What you need is to change your approach. I don't know what you are doing but you are doing it wrong.

Even if you acquire an extra degree, no one will hand you a role in tech if you are not competent.

You need to take the tech thing serious, learn the trade. Bad as it may be in 2025, people are sending rejection letters to HRs because they got offers from another company on twitter.
Hmmmn... It is well

I can see that from your reply’s you studied Biochemistry. Instead of going for a masters degree please use that savings and start your ICAN journey. You’ll never regret it.
How would BSc Biochen + ICAN help him?

You can register for a tech course, you didn't really need a degree in computer science to start a career in tech.

Since you have a biochemistry background, your focus should be on how to improve biochemistry using tech, find solutions to biochemistry problem using tech and see money flow into your account.
This may be too much for his brain.

@op attach yourself to a small business outfit if you know anyone in the field.

A printing shop, a pharmacy, an agro-feeds store or the likes. You'll learn on the job, get the skills to operate the business, and you will make money too when you refer jobs to the outfit.

Or, you may invest in small fast food roadside points, you can agree on a partnership with a lady or a mama that can run it, while you buy the needed items like pots, pans, nylons, gas, etc.... and you'll agree on a profit sharing percentage.

Those sort of businesses earns so much money on a low.

Coursera has snippets of lessons on any tech skills you'd love to have. Take your time to register and follow the course through. Use the certificate together your Bsc to apply for a master's degree program in that course, especially outside of the country. University of the West of Scotland (UWS) can offer you that.
How would a private school teacher raise money to travel to Scotland?
You guys should be realistic nau

Hello everyone,

I’m at a crossroads in my career and could really use some advice from those with experience. I’m a 30-year-old male, and I’ve been teaching for several years now. While I appreciate the experience, I can’t shake the feeling of stagnation—I haven’t truly advanced in my field or made significant strides related to my course of study.

Now, I want to take a bold step forward, but I’m torn between two paths:

Pursuing a Master’s degree to deepen my expertise and possibly open up better opportunities in my current field.
Starting afresh by enrolling in a university to study a computer-related course, since tech is a field I find intriguing and potentially rewarding.
I’d love to hear from those who have faced similar decisions or have insights into the best path forward. Which option do you think offers better prospects in the long run?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

You're opinionated. While your point may be valid and true, it doesn't hold true in some situations. I am a teacher too. Many of my colleagues are out of the country, if not that my visa wasn't granted on time, I'd have been there too. Hopefully, this may I'll be out. Some teachers earn more than what your mind is picturing.

Education is good but u jave to be strategic with it.

If as a person u don't have connections, ur parent doesn't have a functioning enterprise that can absorb you from the labour market, u don't have a running enterprise which u want to use ur schooling to build higher but all the reason u re schooling all ur life is because u want to have the higher requirements to search for job and probably secure one(just to be doing yes sir/ma) then u have come to life to waste ur youthful time bro.

Don't go masters or utme.
Register for Nocode course training. You can develop apps and wb pages without writing code. You will learn ui ux, WordPress developer or Web flow, you will learn zappier and many related. All are good. You can get full course on YouTube. But best learn from someone who will mentor you. The person will show you how to land jobs and giigs. After all, you need to market the skills using digital tools like tiktok, YouTube Facebook and many. If you sacrifice 6 months you will get it.

In 1918, A young dude who didn't have the opportunity to study Biochemistry like you invented ALABUKUN POWDER using acetylsalicylic as it's active ingredient.

In 1979 Alhaji Safiriyu Tiamiyu popularly known as S.T began what was referred to as S.T Soaps Limited with the amount of 5,000 naira. He didn't study Biochemistry.

2025, Biochemistry graduates are complaining of no jobs and thereby taking up teaching jobs.

As Biochemistry grads dey find jobs up and down, OLOSHO wey no go school dey sell organic creams and cash out big. grin grin grin

May God heal our land and heal all of us.

After going for tech training, any need for polytechnic diploma again?
What's the difference between cert and diploma?
I specified 'Academic' because, when OP wishes to further their education in computing and related fields, the tech training and work experience alone may not be enough for admission. However, with a diploma in Computing, they stand a better chance alongside their work.

Na private school oh
Masters degree is necessary is teaching is a profession you love to grow in. It'll allow You to start looking up for "big" schools and lecturing jobs. There a lots of private and federal universities and Polytechnics being set up around the country.

But this should not stop you nor be an alternative for pursuing professional qualifications.
Find a mentor or cyber college around you for A good i.t course. You're already a graduate you don't need a fresh utme for computer. Companies hire nowadays based on experience and professionalism not paper.
Then after learning the programme perfectly, you go for the professional exams to beef up your CV.
e.g. ICAN or other relevant to your field.
As a teacher, take the Teachers registration council exam and become TRCN certified and get a post graduate diploma in education before your masters.

I'd advise you go for Master. Then focus your research area on application of any computing area to Biochemistry. That will be better than going back for computer degree.
