Good day everyone, I am thinking of applying soon. @giselle and everyone your advice needed. I work for the government but also partner with private individuals on contract basis at my free time and these payments are sent to my salary account. Do I State the private individuals as added source of income because the alert is on my salary bank account and if I should, do I need a document to show I work for these guys? Because I know Giselle keep advising everything should be backed by evidence. And if I can't State them as other sources of income, how do I categorise them. Because in my last application the officer termed these alerts as " unknown" even with my explanations. Thank you for your response. |

Your account balance has no bearing on the length of visa you can apply for. If your balance is sufficient to get you a six-month visa, it is also sufficient to get you even a 10-year visa. Your visa validity period is not related to the amount of money you have. What is necessary is meeting the general requirements for getting a UK visit visa, and then demonstrating why you need a long-term visa and paying the extra costs associated with it. If your visa is going to be refused due to insufficient funds or irregular credits or debits, the visa length you apply for doesn’t matter; six months, two years, 10 years — it will still be refused. Ensure your account statement is clean and that you can actually afford the trip. Then apply for whatever length of visa you want. mamanicole: |

eyinloju1:Bros? Any decision on your visa yet? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by davodyguy: 6:48pm On Mar 05, 2025 |
Demmybim:I as stated, you can apply when the TB is still some days to maturity, so the funds would be available some days to travel date. I'll suggest you package employment status well Pick travel date, Let TV maturity be some days to travel Let's say you're applying on 5th August , TB can be 31st of July, but you must have printed your statement before maturity. Don't let the TB drop into your account, to avoid issues Let your state balance be like 2 or 3 times travel expenses, then TB value would then be stated as travel savings. So you let them know that without TB, balance in your account is still sufficient |

mamanicole:Length is not really the basis- as you can not spend more than 180 days in a calendar year. They just need to be sure you qualify for the visa and have passed the ‘not probable to be come an overstayer fear’ Follow the advice already put above. |

Good day everyone I’m a Doctor in Nigeria planning to travel to the UK to write an exam in a couple of months. The exam is divided into 2 parts . I already wrote the first part in Abuja but the second part can only be written abroad . I have spent about 3.5 million naira for both exams already. To put into perspective, that’s about my total earning in a year. As such, I do not have enough/extra funds to build an account but a friend from medical school who is already a resident in the UK has volunteered to provide supporting documents as my sponsor. I currently work in one of the federal hospitals in the northern part of the country . I also have a visa support letter from the college organizing this exam in UK and I’m also married with children in Nigeria . Although, a couple of my colleagues have used my method of intended application in the past with success but I’m still worried since I won’t be providing my own statement of account to support my trip . I’m afraid my lack of personal funds might affect my application. I intend to use just 5 days in the UK . My aim is to write my exams and return home to my family and continue my job at my current workplace . Also, I’m a prospective first time traveler. I need advices from experienced folks here on how I can maximize my application for a desirable outcome . Thank you and God bless Cc : Davodyguy Cashmadam Ogbenioptimal Giselle237 Crackcrack |

BerbatovDrogba:Having a sponsor can work, but you must accurately demonstrate your own circumstances here in Nigeria. Here are my suggestions: 1. Submit your employment letter, pay slips, and leave letter from the Hospital granting you time off to write the exams. 2. Let your bank account statement be clean. It doesn’t matter how much you have, just ensure that your declared income and expenses on the visa application form matches what’s on your bank statement. You can use a three-month statement. No other credits into the account except your declared salary from the Hospital. 3. Explain your relationship with the sponsor. Provide documents that show you actually know this person and a relationship subsists between the two of you. The sponsor should provide their own bank statements. It should be clean. Also, add the sponsor’s proof of UK residency. 4. You can add evidence of the money you’ve already paid towards the exam. Also add evidence that you’ve written the first part in Abuja. 5. Add your marriage certificate and birth certificates of your children. |

BerbatovDrogba:Since it’s plab2- use sokotogudali’s cover letter here on NL and Naseer Khan’s letters - as samples of a cover letter for plab 2. |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by America001: 6:36pm On Mar 06, 2025 |
giselle237:Oga giselle, adequate funds dey. The whole idea of splitting the budget was just so my wife and I could both be represented. Either of us could have done it as we both work full time and the account statements we each provided attested to that so I don’t think that would have been the problem. On the other hand I know students and PSW holders who have combined funds to bring their parents and got the visa. I genuinely don’t think that was the problem if not they would have mentioned it. As for evidence and stuff, well there was no letter explaining the arrears but there was a payslip, stamped and issued by the pension board. I believe if we had asked for a letter she would have easily gotten one as she retired a senior civil servant and she has her ways. I don’t like crying over spilled milk and I believe obtaining visa is a privilege not a right, I just wanted to touch on some of the points you mentioned. Well done. |
