engrelvis:We are not playing Amorimball. The formation alone does not make it Amorimball. We don't have the players to play it. Right now we're at the same place we were towards the end of ETH's time. |

eph12:So what position and what players do we need before we start playing Amorimball? Again what exactly is Amorimball. |

engrelvis:Amorim fans from way back might be able to give more information but you guys first need to stop equating football formation to football philosophy/style of play. Both Arrigo Sacchi and Tony Pulis coached 4-4-2. Different styles. Pep and Mourinho both coached 4-3-3. Different styles. |

We don't even have the players that can play anything. We need a very fit team, filled with as many above average players as possible. It doesn't matter what formation the coach plays, we don't have the players. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 8:24am On Mar 08, 2025 |
This obsession with system is weird. Was it the system that told Dalot not to square the ball to Hojlund in the last game for a tap in? |

Leyqute:I think the koko here is to identify what Amorim's system is all about because we have been told that he shouldnt change it - the tweak was highlighted as a major reason behind ETH's failure! We need to be sure that Amorim isn't also changing anything so as not to kickstart his doom ![]() |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 9:20am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Leyqute:The number of errors they make individually and collectively is just too much. We have one of the worst attack and I think there has to be a lot of focus in the midfield and attack in the summer. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 9:23am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Whether Amorim is the coach or not, we're going to need those recruitments. If not we will just be suffering the next coach |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:26am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:1. You can identify “Amorim’s system” from his teams at Portugal. Unlike what you may assume, it goes beyond team formation and use of 3 CBs. Athleticism, mentality, creativity, and clever use of space are all part of it. 2. You need to elaborate on the ETH aspect. 3. ?? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:37am On Mar 08, 2025 |
eph12:It is shocking. We have many average players who think they’re geniuses. They believe that their teammates are inferior to them when they themselves are useless. That’s why team cohesion is almost zero. Our attackers struggle to work together, exchange passes, take advantage of spaces and movements and score goals. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 9:41am On Mar 08, 2025 |
eph12:We need to bring in two attackers at least in the next transfer window. Players with decent agility and technical levels. We can’t keep parading average Joes and expect them to be world beaters. |

Leyqute:I don't follow the Portugese league and in the CL, his Sporting weren't exactly eye catching to even pinpoint anything spectacular. Was thinking you were in a position to walk us through the much talked about "Amorim ball" but alas, seems both of us are in the dark about his methods ![]() Leyqute:On numerous occasions, ETH's supposed "change in style" from his Ajax methods has been highlighted as a major contributor to his ill fated regime here. If you go through previous discussions during his tenure, you would see enough references to that effect. Leyqute:The General consensus is for Amorim not to compromise his methods for short term gains that would eventually result in long term losses. We need to know his previous style of play and compare it to what we have been seeing so that we are sure he isn't making the same "mistake" ETH made.. |

With the exception of Benfica,Porto and probably Sporting Lisbon the standard of the remaining clubs in the Portuguese Primeira Liga are very poor. At best majority of those teams are English championship standard. Majority of the managers in the league are average at best. It was easy for Amorim to ride roughshod over such teams playing his so called system. On the other hand the English Premier league is a different kettle of tea. Personally I would be pleasantly surprised if Amorim is able to get over Arsenal tomorrow and Real Sociedad on Thursday. He just does not have the capacity. |

Goosethetruth:Lisandro Martinez, Ugarte, Mainoo, Amad and Marguire are all injured. 5 players that should start. I have said it before United fans are the most unintelligent fan base in football. I have seen an agenda on Dorgu already . Most of today's fans would have written off Evra and Vidic in the first 6 months and asked they should be sold |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Leyqute(m): 10:31am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:You don’t follow the Portuguese league. You don’t know what “Amorim style” is. But your ignorance hasn’t stopped you from complaining excessively about it. Instead of waiting for people to “explain” it to you here, why not watch videos of others who have broken down how his teams play and educate yourself ? It’s easier to be a warrior behind your keyboard I guess. On numerous occasions, ETH's supposed "change in style" from his Ajax methods has been highlighted as a major contributor to his ill fated regime here. If you go through previous discussions during his tenure, you would see enough references to that effect. You can’t really blame him for that. In his first season, Ten Hag had to adjust to the quality of the players he had. He even told the world categorically that he can’t play his Ajax style at United because of the difference in player profiles and quality. That second season, he dammed the consequences and decided to play his favored front-footed footy— without having the right players to do so. The result was Onana facing an average of 20 shots each game and United losing to average teams. He is still a good coach but he’s terrible at identifying talents. Cos 60m for Mount, 80 for Antony and 70 for Hojlund doesn’t make any sense. Recruitment was the main reason for that terrible season and maybe all blames shouldn’t be laid at his feet but he’s got his fair share. The General consensus is for Amorim not to compromise his ways for short term gains that would eventually result in long term losses. We need to know his previous style of play and compare it to what we have been seeing so that we are sure he isn't making the same "mistake" ETH made..It’s like this… For many years this United side have excelled in playing in one manner— defend heavily and counter attack. While this isn’t totally bad, it’s a terrible way to play especially if you’ve got attackers who miss big chances. We play on the back foot. We start each game as if nothing is at stake. Then we concede a goal and start going gung ho. Our attacks become very direct. We try to quickly progress the ball up the pitch and look for any chance for a shot. If the opponent decide to defend in numbers and mark our attackers man to man, we don lose be that. Our players don’t have the skills and technicality to build up the ball, progress it to the opposition’s half, hold the possession there, and create chances upon chances. That’s how to play on the front foot. And that’s what’s expected of United. Sure, we can do the deep defending and counter attack thing and get a result or 2, especially against the big teams, but it’s only a matter of time before that ideology is found out. And since we are parading average Joes who can’t score a tap in, it’s not sustainable for the long term. |

CapitalCee:You get ittt. The squad is thin, we’re putting 17 year olds on the bench, and we risk more injuries with the starters. But noooo. Agenda must agend |

CapitalCee:@Bolded, Please watch your language. You don't want to go that route with me. Post your thoughts and leave me alone to post my own. In all the 140 years of Manchester United's existence only 3 managers have been able to win the Premier league or it's precursor the old first division. Ernest Magnall,Matt Busby and Alex Ferguson. And be informed that Ferguson has 13 out of the total 20 titles. There is reason for this. This is a tough tough league. If you believe Amorim can win the Premier league in the next ten years you are entitled to your opinion but just keep the insults to yourself. My last response to you. |

CapitalCee:Players of Evra n Vidic era r completely different from d one we v now. How many current players in premier league who were in age bracket of 17 -20 ) yrs back v really progress well now?. Pure talent is fading . Is all abt money n soft life now. |

Leyqute:Just like many fans out there, the "it" I have complained excessively about, clearly pertains to the horrendous football on display...highlighting the lethargic and lacklustre performances we see almost on a weekly basis. If by any chance the "it" in this context is Amorim ball that you have been waxing lyrical about, wahala dey o ![]() Leyqute:You that have watched endless videos of Amorim ball, please educate those of us that don't have enough time to waste on a Portugese league that is obviously planets below the EPL in terms of quality Leyqute:Thanks for this. Leyqute:Irelevant to the discussion. Leyqute:I am still not sure how this addresses the initial concerns raised below Jamiuokolaa:Just describe Amorim ball in a few sentences that are clear and concise - no need for the endless shalayes please or is it a phantom style of play ? ![]() |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 11:10am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Leyqute:That's the worst part. Some of these players think they are better than they actually are in reality. They have been together for over two years and most times they play like they don't know each other |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by eph12(m): 11:13am On Mar 08, 2025 |
Leyqute:1 midfielder to share/rotate the midfield with Bruno and Ugarte, 1 WB to put Dalot on the bench, and 2 attackers. If we can loan out Hojlund to go rediscover himself |

lt seems we v to import aliens from other planet to play this almighty Amorimball. Rubbish. lf he cannot implement his style of play den he shud relocate . We r wastin time |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by CapitalCee(m): 11:17am On Mar 08, 2025 |
engrelvis:Thats not my point, Dorgu is on 40k/week. For a player sought after by big clubs, and the way he plays and hustles for ball, doesn’t look as if he is lazy or looking for soft life, there might be few areas where he requires improvement like every player, but writing him off after 4 games is a very stupid thinking. Evra and Vidic were poor in their first 6 months, thereafter they clicked. Gravenberch was shit last season, what happened this season? My point was for that guy that want Amorim to win Arsenal and Sociedad with a depleted squad or it is Armageddon. |

CapitalCee:As if them no dey when the Likes of Crystal Palace and Forest dey kolombi us for OT ![]() CapitalCee:But we are being promised that all the manager needs is new players for us to see changes nau. The assumption was that they were always gonna hit the ground running, stay fit and avoid suspensions immediately they join Are you saying we might wait 6 months into the next season again before we expect to see significant impact from the new signings? |
