Giving to the poor is good! But meeting the needs of the and those lacking within within the church is priority. The church is the means through which God would get His will on the earth done.

The basic principle behind any kind of giving is love for God and willingness to submit your finances to his use and direction. That should be the underlying motive. Anything else is slot machine Christianity which does not work.

Are you disciplined enough to let go of 10% of your increase as tithe?
Nigeria has a lot of poor people. When last did you give someone money or an opportunity that made an impact in their lives? I am not talking of giving N500 or N1000. Even beggars can do that.

I went to a government hospital once. I did not believe the number of people who were discharged but unable to leave because they were owing. How many of you have visited a children's ward to pay off the bills of even one child?

There are orphanages everywhere and many of them are desperately struggling. How about buying the kids in that orphanage even just 5 crates of eggs for their protein needs?

You go to your village. That your village church your parents attended has a lot of old people. How about buying wrappers and distributing to those old ones who attend? Does the building need painting or replastering?

That your village hospital that never has any medicines...how about organizing to buy some of the medical consumables there to last a week at the very least?

Even in your church, you know there are young people who cannot afford a JAMB e-pin. How about buying this for even just 5 persons?

There are so many opportunities to give without having to be coaxed or coerced by a pastor whose intentions may not be right (and there are many in our environment, just as there are good ones too).

Do not wait to be asked to give. There are opportunities around you. Never neglect the poor. God said that he who gives to the poor lends to the Lord. In the days of languishing, the Lord Himself will visit such people on their bed of sickness and raise them up.

If they do, majority members would stop paying big tithes and big donations and this will negate the mission the founders established the church for.. to gather the shepple not sheep. ..and to enrich themselves.

Majority of young christians are apparently disillusioned with the faith because they saw through the deceit and lies they were fed by their pastorprenuer.

When ur giving to God has become a transactional giving, then u have missed it...When u give and expect nothing, it's love; but when giving and expect in return, it is an investment ( gambling for that matter)
