I think you should decide because everyone will say his is the best.

The question was in 3 folds;

5 distractions for Nigerians youths
5 things taking Nigeria backward
A little explanation

First of all, who answered in this regard first before points consideration.

You fail to follow instructions, you fail the whole exams whether you answered correctly.

That's how it's done.

My plate is full of things to do, I can't really reread everybody's post to finally choose. For this, I might give it to the first commenter or the first person that made an effort and it happens to be Newfoundlove. The only thing don't like about her is, my spirit is telling me the person behind the moniker is man, but using (f).

If she can admit that she's not a "she" but a man, I'll send it to him. Or, she can prove she's a woman by giving me a video call on WhatsApp via the number on my page.

Or, you people should choose who you think is the winner.

I know the 5k card is small, but I just added the prize for fun. I know everyone here is bigger than that.

This is a big wooow!shocked

People really put in effort thinking you were actually going to do serious scrutiny.

You should've stated the price is for first to comment.

Jeez, you even gave instructions and I took you serious.

What you type here will even take more time compared to scrolling to check who did right.

The first to comment didn't even answer the question. The moniker gave 4 out of 5 and it's the youths distraction, no Nigeria backwardness points, no explanation.

Is it not easy if I am a male but since you want a video call, i'll just brief a female about the matter at hand and hand her my phone to video call you? Or I'll easily say yes I am a man according to what you said?

Nobody would've commented if we knew it would be so uncoordinated and unstandardized.

If you coordinate a physically public activity like this, believe me, you might be lynched by the crowed for over frustration you caused them.

Your decision is grossly inappropriate except you reconsider it. You'll be promoting mediocrity at the expense of the needed meritocracy which is one of Nigeria's problems. No offence though!

Man, I'm trading. Time is money. If I go through your modification, trust me you'll end up taking 4th position. There are people like CaveAdullam, SuperOnyi, etc. who commented. Those people always make sense and they'll most likely win.

For us to stop going back and forth, I'll send you 2k card as a bribe for the argument to stop. Though, the winner is newfoundlove or whoever you people present to me as the best. Drop number let me send the card.

Clown, why didn't you just tell us that the first commenter takes the price? You kept commenting "keep em coming".
Now that you've seen a potential female, konji don catch you. You want her to "contact" you smh. This is 2025 bro, get a grip on yourself. Don't be a woman wrapper. cheesy

Calm down. Most of my giveaways I do are based on first to comment and that moniker has been commenting and liking my posts lately and I know no Nigeria woman has that time. They're busy doing hookup.

My instinct already told me the person behind it is a man. Nairaland is the last place I'll pick up girls. I can't even finish the ones offline.

So, easy on me. Not all men are needy. Some of us just love honesty.

I have already told you guys to choose who you think has the best, but I only get attacked. If I'm to choose, I might end up been bias by choosing SuperOnyi or CaveAdullam or someone else on the list.

I don't want to interfere, hence my safest bet is the first commenter who made an effort.

I don't do gender segregation even though 90% of the people I impacted or helped financially in this life are men. I hope you won't switch and call me gay.

So, who do you think won?

You can only choose others while others choose you. Who has more mentions wins and only those who have commented are qualified to choose.

If no one is selected in the next 15 hours, I'll give it to the first commenter.

You're too desperate. You'll end up doing fraud or something illegal and you'll surely be caught. When it happens, remember someone called iLegend on Nairaland once told you.

Even without adding prize to it, people have been participating. You're not needed next time. Stop feeling yourself. Which one be "nobody go do this one again." Were you forced with a gun? Go and delete it. People more intelligent than you commented, but they're not crying.

The reason you are pissed is, you actually perpetrated a fraud and got called out. Why would you start a challenge and later say you can't read everyone's selection, then you decide to give it to the first commenter. You have the traits of a Nigerian politician yet I see you condemning them on here. cheesy

1. Social Media Addiction consuming hours that should have been used to better youth lives.
2. Staying glued to Television watching all kinds of films and entertainments.
Online Fraud & Quick Money Syndrome
3. Associating with unfocussed and useless friends / Peer Pressure
4. lack of purpose in life/not knowing what to do with your life and future makes you engage in things that will not have positive impacts in your life
5. Engaging in all kinds of betting/gambling and yahoo yahoo fraudulent activities
Re: What are the 5 Greatest Distraction for Nigerian Youths by Nobody:
Love of quick money: Our elites display their opulent wealth on social media and this creates negative and overambition in the mind of the youth. The ever increasing rate of ritual killing and cyber crime are great indicators of this. This get rich quick syndrome is a virus and has spread evenly to all ages in the Nigerian community.

Women and love of materialism: Infact, most people that engage in cybercrime and ritual do so in a bid to get rich quick to please their girlfriends. Also, women, including girlfriends and housewives, are leaving their men( cheating and divorcing) to live with those that are capable of financing their materialistic lifestyles.

Religion: Not only the youth but the elderly people of the Nigerian and African community are affected by the philosophical influence of religion. Nigerians, including the youth and the elders do not want to work, but instead hope on their hypothetical sky Daddy to help them. Our choice of leaders is a good example of the point I am trying to pass through. Muslims only vote for Muslims and Christians too follow the the same pattern. In a recent study, it was shown that Nigeria occupies the top number one spot in the list of most prayerful countries in the world. It's ironic that the most prayerful country in the world is the headquarter of corruption, infidelity, ritual killing, cyber crime, etc. If we check our facts right, we will see that the most prosperous countries in the world are those countries that are religiously neutral or apathetic to it.

Social media and artificial intelligence: Most youth of nowadays spend most of their productive time on social media platforms like TikTok and Snapchat engaging in frivolities which do not contribute an aorta of good development in them. Also, the advent of AI has robbed them of creative potential. AI now help them with their project works and assignments. It has been demonstrated that although the human IQ is on the rise, their productive and creative potential is on sharp decline. All thanks to AI and social media.

I believe these three are the greatest distractions and hinderance to our youth realising their potential and competing with their global counterparts.

I have the power to choose the winner but I relinquished it to you. Being the Nigerian that you are, you chose yourself. Do you see the selfishness. Messi Never chooses himself as the best, but the world knows he is.

Little power I gave you, you abused it. You even started by abusing me. You see the two offences you committed? I won't be add prize again in my subsequent posts to avoid all these dramas. Those ones without prize get more engagements.

What do you think are the 5 greatest distractions for Nigerian youths

and

5 greatest distractions or hindrance why Nigeria is still backward?
I find this an interesting topic for discussion.

Why is Nigeria Backward?

1. Last I checked, a presidential form costs 100 million naira. The political seats attract the wrong kind of people--those who see political offices as an investment. When someone pays 100 million for an office and he finally wins the election, his first course of action is recouping the money.

2. Great countries are built by great people. Great people are built by great education. We have one of the worst education system in the world. We should be more education focused than the rest of the world.

3. Most of the citizens are political illiterates. They say they don't care about politics, but politics cares a lot about them. We will have to imbibe politics in our education curriculum so the next generation cannot be swayed by sweet words, tribalism, and verbose promises.

4. Contentment should be cheap, and abundance should be subjected to market forces. If the food is cheap, the society is safe, and my people have a good place to sleep, you can steal all the billions in the world and they will still praise you. The most celebrated profession should be farming. And a lot of our budget should go into farming. Food has to be cheap!

5. Forget history, culture and roots. All those things are useless! We ought to burn the bridges with our past and rewrite for ourselves, a new way of life. By this, I mean-- one language, one culture, one tradition.

Why are the youths distracted?
1. Anti-intellectualism is celebrated. Why will I burn candles at school when I can show off my nipples on tiktok?

2. There is not much good in being hardworking. The world rewards smart work, not hard work. Sadly, most of us are not smart

3. Relationship and sex. It is good, but it eats up too much time.

4. Social Media. The dopamine is real

5. Religion. (For some)
