Zakat is only for the categories specified by Allah in the Quran:

“Zakat expenditures are only for the poor, the needy, those employed to collect it, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing slaves, those in debt, in the cause of Allah, and for the wayfarer—an obligation from Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.” (Quran 9:60)

📌 Who Can Receive Zakat?
1️⃣ The Poor (Al-Fuqara) 🏠
Those who lack sufficient income and have less than half of their basic needs.

2️⃣ The Needy (Al-Masakin) 🤲
Those who have more than the poor but still struggle to meet their needs.

3️⃣ Zakat Collectors (Al-‘Amilina Alayha) 🏛️
Appointed officials who collect and distribute Zakat.

4️⃣ Those Whose Hearts Are to Be Reconciled 💛
New Muslims or influential non-Muslims who may benefit the Ummah.

5️⃣ Freeing Slaves & Captives (Ar-Riqab) 🕊️
Zakat can be used to free enslaved people or help release Muslim prisoners.

6️⃣ Those in Debt (Al-Gharimun) ⚖️
People burdened by debt who cannot repay.
Immediate or urgent debts qualify; long-term or manageable debts do not.

7️⃣ In the Cause of Allah (Fi Sabilillah) 📢
Jihad for Allah’s sake, including Dawah efforts, as recognized by scholars.
Zakat can support Islamic propagation, but not general fundraising events.

8️⃣ The Wayfarer (Ibn As-Sabil) 🧳
Stranded travelers who lack funds to return home, even if they are wealthy there.

🚫 Who Cannot Receive Zakat?
❌ Mosque, school, or well construction—Zakat is for people, not structures.
❌ Financially stable relatives or acquaintances—If they no longer qualify, Zakat is invalid.
❌ The wealthy and able-bodied earners—The Prophet ﷺ said:

"There is no share in Zakat for the wealthy or the strong earner."

🤲 O Allah, grant us sincerity in giving Zakat, purify our wealth, and guide us in fulfilling our obligations. Aameen!
