giselle237:
You used them as home ties in December, got your visa, and then, one month later in January- applied for their visas, claiming that you wouldn’t be traveling with them on their application forms now and also then. Eco is most likely concerned and is not stupid- you have acted like you all want to relocate, especially since your wife has a low income. And they applying now even though you claimed earlier a different thing.
Have you traveled together as a family before? It would have been easier if this had already happened. Often, the refusal letters state politically correct reasons that can be defended, while the main reasons for refusal aren't explicitly mentioned.
Also 1million and 5,000 usd may not necessarily be enough for 3 people to travel and return to.

Bottomline, ECO sees them as your home ties- now home ties have come to apply for visa the very next month - japa in waiting..
@giselle237

Many thanks for your contribution and the from the angle you came through. I think the home ties perspective makes sense for the refusal.

What would you advise we do next to avoid another refusal. This is not a japa plan honestly, it's just an honest tourism trip and we plan to be back after a week or so. I also have enough funding to cater for our trip(more than the 5k mentioned earlier). My worry is my wife's bank balance.

Please, how do I get tracking ID for my passport from ikeja VFS? I sent my sister there but they didn’t allow her in.

Thanks ! Will do that

One more question , should we include the interest from the money market fund as part of monthly income ? It’s usually automatically reinvested
You are welcome.

They can include interest earned as additional income/savings. Not monthly income as the interest most likely varies from month to month.

Mine was vfs Abuja, passport was dispatched since Friday afternoon but no tracking number provided. I have called the number on their website but it doesn’t seems to go through.

Hello @davodyguy and everyone in the house. I have been reading this trend and all the advice. To be honest I am learning a lot. Thank you guys.
Please I have a question concerning this statement of account. I would love to apply for a UK visit visa around ending of this year 2025. That is when I will finally return to Nigeria.
But at the moment, I am not in Nigeria, I live in a different country. I work, but not official job. So I am paid my salary at hand. Which is upto 1 million naira if exchanged. I do save about 70% as salary income after expenses.
So my question is as someone who is returning to Nigeria to apply for this visa. How do I go about with the bank statement that will be presented? I want to apply for the visa same month or the next month I will be returning. Definitely at the moment, there is no means to convince the UK officer on how I receive my salary. Because I received it at hand. And if I am coming back, I will have to withdraw all my savings, exchange them to dollar and come back. So I don't think my current bank account will be necessary to present since I will be leaving the country final. So could you guys kindly advice me on how to go about the bank statement. How do I build this bank statement. I have both dollar and naira account back in Nigeria, but can't make transaction with them or send money to it back here. If I come back, take all the money and put either in my dollar account or naira account, then apply for the visa. Do you think it can be granted?
Bring all your savings, deposit them in your bank accounts in Nigeria and run your accounts for a few months before you apply. Also, you need to convince the visa officer that you have a source of income in Nigeria. That should be your biggest concern now.... What will you say you do in Nigeria?

5000 usd is not enough funding for the trip for 3 people as the ECO also takes into cognisance that you need money when you return from your trip as well. You are not expected to finish all your money on a vacation- they will not grant such a visa.

Hello, please does one need a dollar account to make visa payment or can you use a Nigerian atm card? Thanks.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by MsAnonymous: 3:52pm On Mar 18, 2025
Good Day house,

I applied with my husband (family application) to visit UK.
I stood as the family sponsor (I have enough money to sponsor us both)
We didn't submit my husband's acct statement, we only submitted pay slips.

When the decision came back, I was granted, while my husband was denied on the basis that even if I am sponsoring the family, he should still have presented his statement to show his financial status in Nigeria.

When he applies again, we will attach that. However, I wanted to ask if I can still stand as a sponsor?

Doesn't matter. You can add and remove dependants as your personal circumstances change.

For instance, your children may no longer be your dependants once they are adults and are working. Your parents may no longer be your dependants if they are now abroad and living with one of your siblings.

It is not a big deal at all. Just be honest with your individual applications and you will be fine.

Good luck!

Cashmadam thanks for ur response

Pls I want you to help me look into my financial aspect.

For my business, I use my business name to register for P.O.S machine, all the cash we make from selling phones were use to run P.O.S business. But monthly I use to transfer 2.5millions naira to my personal account, from personal account I use to buy markets of 2.2millions by transfer every month, and I use to withdraw 300k by cash for living expenses every month. I use my personal account cos I want to have clean account for the visa,if I use P.O.S account, it has a lot of transactions from unknown sources.any money I transfer to my personal account will show my company name as the source of the funds. Will I be fine if I use my personal account to apply for the visa application?

Yes, you can and should use your personal account for the visa application. You may also include your business account - to prove that you have a legitimate source of income.

However, is it possible for you to buy your goods through your business account - not your personal account?

You have not fully seperated your personal and business accounts if you continue to buy your goods through your personal account. It is important that you fully seperate the accounts to avoid issues.

I hope this helps.

If you are in the UK, and are inviting family members over, it is advisable you fill the application for them and enter your email address and Uk phone number in case ukvi wants to contact you.

Thanks for your reply.
But I am not sure if foreigners without permanent residence are allowed to do so. I only have temporary residence at the moment. Because I wrote to Ireland embassy some time ago, they said foreigners are adviced to go back to their respective home country to apply. So I don't know if UK will do same.
But I will keep trying to get in touch with the UK embassy here, while I continue to go through all this trend till then shaa.
Thank you.

As Cashmadam said, in order not to waste funds, you need to be grounded in Nigeria, make money in Nigeria for at least 6 months to be able to apply from Nigeria.

It is best to apply from where you have spent the last 6 months

Temporary residence is fine. My first UK visit visas were gotten when I was a temporary resident in another country. UK allows you to apply from that location.
However cash in hand jobs with no paper identification of your income source is a big problem and will not be overlooked. Make no mistake about that.

Please is there any relevance of the address in tb test certificate, if the address in UK on tb test is different from the address when applying for visa, is this an issue?

Retired parent didn’t submit a bank statement as part of their last visit visa application that was granted. Should they submit one now for renewal?

No council tax bill, does an electricity bill suffice as proof of address?

Thank you

Can someone assist with VFS Ikeja contact number. I applied for visit visa for my mother in-law. Biometric done on the 25/02/2025. I reached out to ukvi via paid mail and I was told that decision as been made seen 12/03/2025. VFS Ikeja didn't provide any delivery details after I was debited twice for DHL delivery. No update on application. I tried reaching +2348070199993 but to no avail.
