‌The Commission Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe, has revealed that Nigeria’s crude oil reserve of 37.5 billion barrels and its 209.26 trillion cubic feet of natural gas is projected to sustain the nation’s energy needs for the next 70 and 90 years, respectively.

The CCE made the declaration on Tuesday at the Decarbonisation and Energy Sustainability Forum in Abuja.

The NUPRC boss who spoke on the theme, “Navigating the Global Energy Transition: Leveraging Decarbonisation in Nigeria’s Upstream Oil & Gas for Sustainable Value Creation.” also made a strong appeal to stakeholders in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, urging them to work together in navigating the energy transition.

He emphasised the importance of establishing a pathway toward a cleaner, more resilient, and prosperous future for Nigeria.

He also underscored the imperative of balancing energy security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability as Nigeria navigates its transition towards decarbonisation and net zero emissions by 2060.

“With 37.5 billion barrels of crude oil and 209.26 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and life indices of 70 and 90 years, respectively, the stakes are even higher for Nigeria. As you are aware, the oil and gas sector contributes nearly 90 per cent of our foreign exchange earnings and 70 percent of national revenues.

“The key question before us today is: How do we
leverage our vast hydrocarbon resources while embracing decarbonisation to ensure long-term
sustainability and competitiveness?,” he said.

Probably you've not been to Edo State.
The well reserve in Ologbo community will outlive that of the whole east combined together.
If not that they have brain issue you would have known that crude is not seen with the naked eyes until it is drilled and brought to the surface, so a visit to Ologbo wont give any data better than the one from the agencies responsible for documenting the outputs

Can you post the reserves in barrels that you who lives there sees everyday on the grounds of Ologbo

You are sick Sir. I mean that in the nicest way. Go and seek help. You wake daily, ignoring facts and researched reality, seeking lies to tell of some Igbo greatness coming at the detriment and downgrading of Yorubas. You have done this for decades ow. Yet nothing.

Yes Lagos is on it's "last spin". Same lunatic claim you have been making that for 20 years now, like a broken record, and getting disgraced as Lagos goes from strength to strength. One innovation after the other.

With one of the latest been "Detty December" and the sheer amount of money it brought to Lagos showing the vast and new potentials of tourism and hospitality for the State Abuja will never attract let alone your godforsaken Anambra or anywhere in your barren to andd unwelcoming five plots of land.

The old lunatic is claiming Abuja is overtaking Lagos whereas researched input (see conclusion below) confirm that not only is Lagos far superior to Abuja, as Nigeria's economic powerhouse, but that "Abuja's economic growth is likely to be slower than Lagos's: in the coming years, as Lagos continues to benefit from its location, infrastructure, and historical role as a commercial and industrial hub".

We won't even bother talk of Anambra the old asylum candidate claims he sees becoming economically greater than Lagos. Laughable but lunacy, especially that encoded in genetic allele of some, will manifest in such ways I.e making bizarre and outlandish claims reality disproves.
The sky is big enough for every state to thrive..

Anambra has already surpassed Lagos that's what every Yoruba person should start saying so that igbos will make Anambra their new Lagos and start migrating there in millions and reduce pressure on SW infrastructure..

So just agree with them because in the every state will win.

Keep deceiving yourself with the GDP nonsense

GDP of which year ?

Let any GDP stats come out this year and let me see if Ogun and Oyo won't trash Anambra

The only thing saving your sorry ass in the east is crude oil and gas resources you seem to have that overinflate your GDP when it comes to real service economy you are nothing
Their GDP will always be higher because they have a smaller population compared to Yoruba people.

So we should be rejoicing over this news? Has the oil been a blessing or a curse to the people of the Niger Delta region for all the years it has been discovered there? Resources will always be a curse in a country like Nigeria where the few rich rogues in power are always seeking to corner the wealth of the entire country.
If you are looking for places where the oil has been a blessing look at places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qutar, and the rest.

This is only crude oil —when the gas plants open their valves, the entire landscape shifts. For over 50 years, the land was stripped bare, looted by vultures and jackals wearing human skin. But the tide is turning. Let’s see them crawl out now, weeping their hollow, deceitful tears.

Let's not stop here , I see Anambra over taking Lagos economy very soon . Abuja is already overtaking, and it is not a big deal. Thank you soludo for remain visionary even in the midst of pressure .

There is really no big deal about Lagos besides the oil industry headquarters and the banking industry headquarters .
Cry harder.

Saying Anambra will overtake Lagos show the level of your intelligence.

Your delusion is out of this world

Anambra that can not even compete with Ogun state or Oyo is the one that will overtake Lagos?

Fake drugs is affecting your brain
Anambra overtaking Lagos is a good thing and bad thing.

A good thing because it will take their eyes off Lagos.

A bad thing because it will give them more money to sponsor anti Yoruba politicians like CRV so expect half igbo half Yoruba politicians that are pro-igbos to start vying for political positions in the SW and relegate indigenous Yorubas out of Yoruba politics.

What is sad is the fact he is a grandfather, in age terms, to many here. Imagine being so elderly and lacking wisdom. Meaning he has gone through life but the lessons of life, that confers wisdom on an individual, has not gone through him.

That sad reality can only be found in Igbo culture where hate turns old men and even Professors into slaves of illiterate cultist killers and hate preachers, like Kanu and Ekpa, because of the belief those sort will help them overcome and subjugate their 'enemies'.

They are emptily supremacist but their pain is compounded by the fact Yoruba have been and will always be ahead of them. When do you see a topic of Anambra greater than Edo, Benue, Kaduna, Kano or Delta State?

Never because they see those as beneath them. It is always Lagos and SW States, for obvious reasons, they try to compete with and downgrade. Classic behaviour of those who suffer from feelings of inferiority complex against others as Igbos harbour for Yorubas who are silent achievers with that fact even adding to their pain tenfold.

With human beings, the people we speak about daily and non-stop are those we are fascinated and/or obsessed with. Nairalanders should work out why Igbos daily engagement with others online must always be malevolently about Yorubas.

Can't they celebrate Anambra's positive achievements without claiming she is overtaking Lagos specifically when Nigeria has 36 States and an FCT?
No they can't celebrate without downplaying a non-igbo person, business or state..

While this is obviously a great news for Anambra state, I'm not swooned by Oyel news anymore...gas is the present and the future, and the Anambra/Imo basin has that in abundance- natural gas deposits in that axis is projected as having the biggest deposits in Africa (which explains why government sponsored non-state actors became so active there lately).

The South East is in a very good place futuristically, abundance of oil and gas in that region could only signal a very promising future for Alaigbo if these resources are well managed and not usurped by fifth columnist brigands. What Igbos need now is a visionary leadership to harness all these great resources and potentials.

Appletek:
The honest truth is that the average igbo person has an inherent inferiority complex passed on from generation to generation. Every step he takes in his life is to mask the inferiority complex but the more he tries to mask it, the more apparent it becomes.

That explains why you see that in chieftaincy titles, they add 1 behind the chieftaincy title. Ebubedike 1 of EponOjuku Autonomous Community; Kerewawa 1 of Ozubulu Genocidal Community, etc. Each one seeks egotistical gratification to show he's better than his fellows.

That inferiority complex is what drives the clannishness and unintelligent herd-mentality displayed by a lot of them. Unfortunately, it has evolved into a chronic case of persecution complex.

Chronic case of persecution complex is what makes the thought process of the average igbo man very incoherent, unfortunate, bereft of common sense and opposed to logic.
Hmmmm cool
