While I understand that Nigeria is not a producing nation and depends on importations, it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that local industries are revived, and reduce over dependence on dollar. Thank God for I&E window that has closed the exchange rate gap between parallel and official market. We know how people took advantage of the loopholes to enrich themselves. oluplus:Not an economist ... just a layman. Various administrations have lead us to where we are by having economic policies that do not support our economic development. We keep borrowing and borrowing ... then borrowing to pay back what was borrowed ...with nothing to show for the monies borrowed. Then the conditions set by the lender we never know ...how can the Naira ever maintain its level or get stronger? The US currency is pretty much stable ...so far ...it is the Naira that keeps depreciating .... drowning ...and every few months the FG pours a lot of money to float it a bit then be shouting it is appreciating.
