I am a 17 year old that graduated from secondary school at July 1st 2023 (I had to wait 2 years at home because I wasn’t mature enough) and I applied for the Software Development program at SAIT at February 28th 2025 and got my LOA on the same day. I got my PAL at March 17th 2025. How can I write my LOE and SOP in such a way that will convince the visa officer that my study plan is good and I’ll come back after my studies. All my siblings have gone through this process and they all stay in Canada, I also have a US B1/B2 visa and a Schengen visa. I always came back on time, will my travel history be enough to convince the visa officer. |

Alex092:I would have advised you to pursue US admission with funding options. Well for your SOP you will need to show the VO how the course will help your career in your home country, how it will elevate you and give you the needed skills to excel back home. The main issue you have to tackle will be your home ties since all your family members are over there, that being said you can use your good travel history and parents as ties and the fact that you will have good job prospects back home. Then leverage on the experience of your siblings they have more experience than us since they have gone through the process. |

Jeboy:Please don’t make it seem impossible. I know more than three people who enrolled in French Village in Togo from September to March, wrote the French exam, and all passed. Fortunately, there was a draw this month, and they all received an ITA. Meanwhile, many Nigerian students in Canada like my brother are still piling up debt, running a second program, or have had their PGWP expire without getting PR. Some are even trying to claim past experiences not stated on their student application and end up with an ADR. Don’t be deceived by the few sharing success stories about the student route. The reality is that many are struggling with debt, no jobs, and uncertainty about their PR ![]() |

Mamagirls3:It can fly. Let her just give explanation why she wants to do that second program. She can say while doing the PSW, she volunteered at so so places and that spiked her interest in taking a second program in social works or ECE. If the place she is currently working at in Canada has anything related to do with the second program, that will be better. But just stating that volunteering will also fly. Done it for quite a handful of ppl. Finally, the most important thing is for the vo to be convinced that she has the pof to cover the second program. If she has completed tuition for the first PSW program, let her draw the vo attention to it. |

Alex092:You will need to come up with solid convincing home ties because your canada ties are looking very solid assuming your siblings that all left are still in Canada |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by zubizareta(m): 2:11pm On Mar 23, 2025 |
Essential01:First, if she wants to apply for a visit visa, I will advise you get in first and stay atleast a month before you invite them so you have a solid logical reasoning of inviting them. The challenge is your program is just 8 months and the application could easily be rejected for purpose of visit as why are you suddenly inviting them when your program will be done in next u months and you are returning to your country. You understand my point right? But you can give it a try, in the past, it use to easily fly but since the whole thing became tighter, getting a visit visa has become difficult and most applications are easily dismissed for purpose of visit. As for her going to school, isn't that waste of funds? It's not going to be easy both of you studying and having to try work part time and still take care of the kids. If you don't want to explore the option of doing the visit visa which I advise you wait till you enter first, then explore option of getting in, try change to a 16months masters program, get a study permit extension then apply for sowp for your wife and visit/study permit for your kids. Changing to masters program depends on alot though. |

adigun27:Save your money if you want to use ut for study permit application. It's not a useful or required document that can alter the decision of your application |

A well-written Letter of Explanation (LOE) and Statement of Purpose (SOP) can significantly strengthen your study permit application. Since you have a strong travel history, a precise study plan, and strong family ties in Canada, it's crucial to structure your letter effectively to convince the visa officer that your intentions are genuine and you will return to your home country after completing your studies. Acknowledge that your siblings are in Canada but emphasize that you will return, and focus on your personal commitments and career prospects back home. Highlight your B1/B2 visa and Schengen visa as evidence of compliance, and emphasize that you have always returned home after international visits. Alex092: |

Gurus in the house please which app would you guys recommend that I use to pay for my application fee . As I have tried my Firstbank bank card but it's not working. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Kaykaychizzy: 5:44pm On Mar 24, 2025 |
kayceelingz:You should go to your bank and pay the fees and also include your reference number or student ID number given to you by the school. Atleast that's how I did mine and it was received by the school within 24 hrs. |

Good day say, is this possible? and will I need new study permit or mere extension once this one expires? zubizareta: |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by kayceelingz(m): 7:11am On Mar 25, 2025 |
Kaykaychizzy:Thank you, but from the payment instruction, one can only pay with a bank card . The school account number was not provided. |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Kaykaychizzy: 8:58am On Mar 25, 2025 |
kayceelingz:Maybe you should contact the school to verify before paying with your bank card and moreover, I don't think naira cards can be used to pay for international transactions anymore. Try using a dollar card for the payment as it's the new CBN rule for all international transactions/transfers. |

Essential01:Yes it's possible but the few ppl I knew that did it actually did it within same school. So it was easier for them. You will need to extend your study permit almost immediately especially if you are changing to a different school. |
