LAGOS STREET LIGHTS UPDATE

Lagos State Expands Light Up Lagos Project & Solar Retrofitting Across Key Locations through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, continues to drive its commitment to a well-lit, secure, and energy-efficient Lagos with the ONGOING Light Up Lagos Streetlight Project and Solar Retrofitting Initiative.

From Mobolaji Johnson Avenue to Ikeja, Ketu, and Kosofe, streetlights are being installed and upgraded to enhance security, improve visibility, and boost economic activity across communities. This initiative aligns with the state’s sustainability goals, ensuring a cleaner energy mix through solar retrofitting of existing streetlights.

This is just the beginning! The Light Up Lagos project is expanding to every corner of the state, reaching streets, highways, and neighborhoods to create a safer, more vibrant, and energy-efficient environment for all residents.

A Brighter, Safer, and Greener Lagos is Here!

Now that Tinubu is president. Still no constant light for Lagos.

Smh, only EKEDP knows what they're doing. The rest are just playing.
I thought Lagos State wanted to generate a separate source of electricity b4?

Why are there so much delays. The use of petrol is causing tmso much overhead cost

Sometimes I wonder if the ministry of works/commission for works in Lagos State truly understood their department/appointment.

All this skill acquisition incentive program they created across some LGA - why is it that they can't engage the services of youths who are enrolled in the program to do some of this projects. This is another means of indirect and direct employment.

This is how some Asian Countries started and making progress till this moment.

the whole point of solar powered lights is that 90% of the challenges are eliminated
for your regular floodlights urchins and hustlers will steal the power supply cable
they also require generator when there is no nepa which means variable running cost

but your solar powered floodlight is largely a one off cost - you just have to replace the batteries every 2 to 5 years
most important thing - buy high quality solar floodlights
and you have to periodically clean the solar panel. but the risk of vandalization and abuse is significantly reduced

i say this as a person who has seen people ta[p power from lighting poles to charge phones

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

A 45-year-old resident and father of three, Mr.Fatai Lamide told PUNCH HealthWise that no building in the community has toilet facilities.

The Oyo State-born mechanic said, “We don’t have toilet in this area, including our compound. This canal that you see serves as toilet to all of us living in this area. We defecate inside nylon and throw it inside the canal.

“For people that don’t want to use nylon, they have a special bucket that they use after which they pour it inside the canal too.

That is the propaganda that has been used to keep 20 million Lagosians hostage to the crass looter who squeezes IGR out of the hardworking people but does nothing in return for them. Nothing! Absolutely nothing!!!

Propaganda in the absence of any proper agenda governance outcome.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday evening boasted that he could provide uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents between six and eight months.

Fashola spoke at the commissioning of 8.5 megawatts Lekki Independent Power Project (IPP), the fifth of such power projects in the last five years in the state.

The governor said the addition of the Lekki IPP was a testament to the fact that stable power does not require rocket science to achieve in the country.

While challenging power distribution companies in the state, Fashola said, “Let the Eko DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government, in about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State,” Fashola said.

He added, “So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated. So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible”.

The project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with Heritage Bank, is to serve Lagos State Water Corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lightening in the Lekki axis.

Commissioning the project, Fashola said he felt fulfilled with the conduct of youths that delivered the project, despite the difficulties in getting to the finishing point.

He said it also showed that the money to improve the Nigerian economy is here, “since we don’t need the World Bank to come and do this for us.”

A young man died in Aba last week Thursday, what killed him ? He was a scrap dealer who bought metals from scavengers around the hood, on that faithful Thursday evening he was being a good Samaritan by trying to help some officials who were installing solar street lights along the roadside, mind you these guys are technicians without any safety gadgets or advanced mechanisms, to cut the long story short, they raised the metallic pole near a high tension wire, a little contact happened and three individuals were electrocuted, the scrap dealer guy was the only one to die, one of the officials ran mad and the other is doing fine now.

I appreciate how these workers made use of advanced and modern systems to install these stuffs in Lagos, if it was applied in Aba last week Thursday, maybe Joseph would have been alive today.

It was the slapping senator, who slapped an Abuja Uber driver that was in charge of this dreadful project

Tapping light is okay ba? But Senator stealing N1bln is corrupt.

Nigerians are the most hypocritical people on the planet.

The ones on 3rd mainland don pass 6 montha ba. And so far I have only seen 2 that stopped working. And it could be that the sensor had not switched it on.

If they install quality and ensure the vendor guarantees it from fault for say 5 years, then we should be fine.
