You are talking like an illiterate. Should we blame you? What steps is he taking to fix power in the country? It's from those steps that you'll know whether he's effective or not. What is even the problem that has been building for years?

The only thing he’s proficient at is increasing power tariff rates. I think he gets a certain kind of satisfaction in that

How did you arrive at the conclusion that 80% of customers are not paying? huh

If prepaid meters have been distributed as expected, won't people pay for the units they consume?!

There is no excuse that can be made on behalf of this people!
Even if 80% are not paying like the guy said, aren't they supposed to meter them or developed an alternate payment or sanction methodhuh

cheesy

When you run a business where 80% of consumers are not paying anything or underpaying, you expect that business to succeed?
Wait wait.. what do you mean by 80% of consumers arent paying anything?? Let us even get your point before we even know how to respond to you.. Just to be sure

Ehen now i get your point.. Same way network users dont pay for the bad network service and consistent rip off we continuously get. Infact Nigeria is the only country that pays for what it doesnt get so saying we dont pay is the height of psychosis from someone who doesnt know what he is saying.. People will just open their mouth waaa and be talking rubbish while giving excuse for failure.. 80% and they didn't declare a Emergency all these while.. They overcharge people for estimated billing and hike the price disproportionately and you say 80%.. Nigga go sleep abeg

Do you also know that south Africa has never had subsides on power?
My younger brother lived in Pretoria for 5 years before relocating to Vancouver in Canada and he told me we paid more than what they were paying back then in DA considering the fact that we were paying for invisible light.
During the days of estimated Billings we went two good months without light and still paid for the two months, will that ever happened in SA ?

Do you know that most of the people in those countries pay for power as and at when due, and the government does not control their prices?

SO, you expect 24 hour light, when only less than 20 per cent of consumers pay for power at market rate?

Would you sell bread at N200 per loaf just to help the poor?

I am defending your right to set your prices. Not the government, not the discos even. But you just want to abuse me.

Stop trying to rationalize your low level thinking on a public platform. So let's even assume for a minute that the wild claim (which u obviously got from your rear end) of only 20% of Nigerians paying for energy services is true.. Whose fault is it that the power producers have refused to provide adequate metering system across board. Should Nigerians too be the ones to go source for meters themselves for a business entity just like many pay through their noses to get a meter or like the way Nigerians buy transformers for them.. Even in urban areas where almost everywhere is metered using prepaid meters, do you know how long it takes to even replace one not to talk of new requests or procurement?? And even that waiting period, the users are still charged more through estimated billing which I have personally experienced. If the telecommution sector comes out and tells Nigeria that 80% of the people making calls and using data dont pay, would that sound reasonable to you?? So why should it sound reasonable for the power sector which has seen trillions of investment sunk into it since the Obasanjo administration with nothing to show for it. Yet you decide to senselessly blame Nigerians for the gross incompetence of government and the power wereys when Nigeria is one of the only nations that pays for darkness.. How many industries are connected to the power grid becos they arent reliable?? Its obvious you are not in this country which is why u are where u are talking rubbish you have no clue about. Band A is suppose to give people at least 15 - 20 hrs of light. Go round and conduct a survey to see if they are meeting even half of that target but people are still be ripped off paying for something they dont get value for just same way as other sectors yet you wanna talk smart and shift blame to Nigerians who are been ripped off. I really wish i could slap you hard on the neck for this annoying rubbish u just said cos its freaking sad and annoying angry. Nigga or Nigress STFU please if you dont know what to say rather than giving a sickening, annoying and never ending excuses for systemic government failures. Like WTF

As much as Wike is troublesome, no one can dismiss the fact that he's been taking responsibility for his portfolio as the FCT minister. Argue in that line with the power minister.

The Power Sector is in a mess. Indeed,in a mess.

Tinubu should see beyond partisan politics and bring in a competent person to handle the Sector.

Prof Barth Nnaji comes to mind. The man is a guru and could help rejig the sector at its lowest ebb.

The president should act fast. The country is losing!

The POWER SECTOR CONODRUM:
•The Purpose and Why the Minister of Power Adebayo-Adelalabu - Accepted the Minister Position - was to bring in POSITIVE CHANGES INTO POWER SECTOR - but alas, same, Darkness is what NIGERIANS are Experiencing.
Everywhere and today- after 2- yrs in the Saddle. -That he inherited decades of Accumulated Problems cannot hold again.
So,his Story is Stale,Now.
- He failed because he underrated the Rotten and the Huge Corruption in the Power- Sector,e.g the first thing - governor Bola Ige did( when he was appointed the Power Minister -under OBJ- then( although- he was Warned by NADECO Members to reject the appointment then) - was to take a Strategic Look - at the Power itself .he got to Apapa/ Ijora to their Equipment Rooms/ Stores - Only to discovered that - many New Transformers - but Now Aged - were lying fallow ( unused)🤥 there - inside the Stores! Is that Not ridiculous?
These Are Equipments - that should have been fixed For the People to Use - but are just in the Stores - for Ages.We are very Wicked to Ourselves!
What happened to ALL THE POWER SECTOR ANNUAL BUDGETS OF THE GOVT?
- WHEN LAST DID THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY MEMBERS - CARRIED OUT THEIR- OVERSIGHTS FUNCTIONS- ON MINISTRIES AND DEPTS/ AGENCIES? e.g the last 4yrs -Ago- the Elumelu House Committee On Power Sector - was,
-Embroidered in Corruption Allegations - but did that Stop them from Conducting Others OR
-Are they Not Collecting Salaries and Allowances - since?
The NLC- too have been Collecting the Power Sector Dues From their Union Members - without Saying Anything Wrong - For Nigerians- to remain in Perpetual Darkness - While the American Elon musk,Bezzos,etc- uses Same Power - Energy-to go to the Moon - in America on Regular Basis.
-Your NLC is Part of Nigeria Big Problems - For Keeping Quiet,on a Serious Matters as this- for Decades Now!
Questions- For The Power Minister:
•1- how Many-Transformers Do We Have In Areas and of the 6- Geopolitical -Zones in Nigeria today ? CAN THE The Minister give you accurate information/ Accounts - afterall,we are told- he is an Accountant!
- How Many New Transformers have they Imported into Nigeria and Established that it's Working?
2.How Many Pre- Paid - Meters has he Acquired and Distributed ,to Nigeria and- to which Zones?
3- How Many of the DISCOS - are Performing 🎭 today, yet the Minister had No Methods - or at least we don't hear him to ever Sanction 1 or 2 of these DISCOS - Or Sacked them Entirely - for Nonperformance - for their Failures in giving Regular Light 🚨 but what we have been experiencing is more Darkness!
- Same was Fashola then- as Power Minister - telling Nigerians were under Contracts - With DISCOS - Owners - that were Not Performing! (Who their Contracts Help Now?
•Who Owns the DISCOS - that have held Nigeria Morribond in Darkness till today?
4.it seems the Minister have no Audacity to Change the way both DISCOS, GENCO,TNT,etc - are doing business,so you hardly hear from him his Modes of Operations- even his BAND A ,B,C - IS DEAD ALREADY - Because there is No Regular Lights to Supply to Anyone,so may be 4 or 3- hours!
•the Facts is that these Institutions,( DISCOS , GENCO,TCN, Others)- Are Very Corrupt,Full of Gross Incompetence and and the Minister chose to be in Conformity- without doing anything about them!
- how many Megawatts of Lights has he added?
-5.Did you know that Lagos State alone can Feed the Whole Nigeria-with 24/7 lights,if the Minister decides to Build - 3- Hydro-electricity in:
• Ikorodu,
•Epe and
• Badagry - these Areas have Pools of Sea and Ocean 🌊 Water -that can Drive the Turban of the Electricity 💡?
-For Example-The Minister and NIGERIANS - Should go to China, where Hydro- Electricity Alone -in a Regions generating 356,000Megawhats -of LIGHTS 🚨!
e.g Lagos with a Population of Over 25 Millions Needs at least 6- Different Power Distribution - to make it Closer to the Consumer.
-But here We( Nigeria) is Sleeping 😌 on 4,000 Megawatts - since Decades- No Wander there is Persistent Darkness - Day and Night 🌉,in Nigeria!
And the Govt - is telling the Youths Not To JAPA,Abi?
The ONLY WAY TO INDUSTRIALIZATION:
•President Tinubu - should know - there can't be Industrialization-Development - anywhere in Nigeria- without Regular Lights 🚨- 24/7 LIGHTS OR 365 DAYS REGULAR LIGHTS.
This is Obviously Lacking in Nigeria Today!
Kiss 💋 the TRUTH .

Okay, it costs N170 to make a unit of power. As things stand only band A pays above that...so the power sector is making profit from only sales to 20% of its customers.

If you think that is sane economics, you really need to change your thinking pattern

Before the band A thing, it was 100% of consumers underpaying for electricity in the name of subsidy.

DeLaRue:
Actually, the past dry season has been the first time in several years that there has not been any marked reduction in the power availability in my area compared to the preceeding rainy season.

That is a good improvement, though it may well be that some other people's experiences are different.

The challenges in electricity generation and distribution in this country are multi decade old. The country needs to spend tens of billions of dollars every year for the next 10 years or more.

Nigeria simply don't have that sort of money.

So whatever improvements there is in that sector is going to be inadequate.
If the political class cut 70% of their salaries and stop wasteful spending and stealing we'd realise enough money to fix power issue in 4years

You want to know how much we need to improve power in Nigeria? 10 to 15 trillion naira per annum

You want to know how much we would earn from cutting salaries of political class...even up to 90%? Not up to 3 trillion.

The only way is for e veryone to pay for electricity at 200 naira or more per unit. Once investors see that money is flowing they will invest in our power sector.

I checked those guys defending this government on Nairaland and I realised that majority of them are not human beings at all. I supported Tinubu in 2023 but when I saw the handwriting on the wall, I have to check myself again. How will u support a government that took away the happiness of the masses. Things are becoming harder on daily basis. No progress whatsoever but the president and his wife are moving about with convoy of over 100 escort at a go. To what end? They are asking masses to continue to bear but they are sharing money on daily basis. If you are still supporting this government, just be ready for the curse of the masses.
The next step for you is to stop attacking Igbos, I told you in 2023 that you don't know who Tinubu was and I'm telling you now that you don't know the Igbos, yes there are crime committers from Igbo land just like every other tribe but when it comes to politics an average Igbo man just wants a country that works, he doesn't really care where the president comes from.

Forget the propaganda you hear, there is a whole lot of bullshit flying around with nonsense narratives, I'm just telling you so you may not regret it in future, there is a whole lot you may not know but time will reveal it like I told you about Tinubu...

FirstlyI an old man old enough to be your father, secondly my house was empty for seven whole years after the engineer that built it delivered the keys and NEPA were bringing electricity bills to an empty house for 7 years.
I was forced to settle those bills when I applied for prepaid meter, where else do you think such happens around the world ?
