lavida001:lol. I've consistently picked up on your advice(s) to Africa and Africans. Sadly, you're flying solo here. There is no interest by Africans to fight for and build Africa. Not entirely their fault tho, cos the system is just stacked against you, but I do know that the whites were able to do it. Fought with blood and sweat to build working and functional societies......one of the reason I beef them, cos I don't accept they are better than me in any way, but the reality is the reality. They are different and better, which makes me beef them even more...na raging conflict 🤣🤣🤣 |

Taal17:Okay, let's say that the Home Office is accountable for all CoS fraud committed until the changes in 2024. However, who do we hold accountable for the CoS abuse that is still going on? H/O or individuals that are determined to circumvent due process by any means possible and those who are determined to get rich off the suffering and desperation of their fellow man? At some point you have to hold people responsible for their actions. Even if someone left their front door unlocked and they were burgled, the burglar wouldn't get a free pass just because the door was unlocked. I think the coverage has been widespread enough. Some may not have heard directly from the government but there are other modes of communication. For example, I've seen multiple threads on Nairaland discussing CoS shams. Google, Twitter, word of mouth, Nigerian publications have also highlighted this issue, so I find it hard to believe that anyone who is seriously interested in getting a care visa is still unaware of the illegality and risks associated with buying CoS. |

You people have triggered Zahra now. Look what you've done. Can we please try to change the topic (how about swapping recipes on how to cook the chlorinated chicken that will soon be coming to a supermarket near you?) before we are made to understand that we and our ancestors should be most grateful for the slave trade, colonialism, economic colonialism and the opportunity to emigrate to the United Kingdom from the dark continent. |

Goke7:You have a point there. In fact, it should be a thing. Starting from Saturday, in rotation, Nigerian members of the Boriswave should form groups and start doing monthly "environmental" in London. They should take night bus to Victoria, foregather there with their cleaning materials, then humbly walk down to the Palace to chant humble thanks for the opportunity to serve, before spreading out to central London to clean elsewhere, starting from the Home Office and including Heathrow Terminal 5, which was where a large number most likely first glimpsed this promised land. After everything they gather again at Victoria, then disperse again till the next month. Indeed we are not worthy. |

Goke7:😂 Not at all. You live in a democracy so you're free to continue the endless moaning and complaining. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Jamesclooney: 9:38pm On Apr 03, 2025 |
Cyberknight:Zahra29 is right though. I have friends/family back home who would jump at the opportunity to japa to anywhere, but it seems there are no viable options. UK, Canada, Australia and US —every major Western country—all seem to be slamming their doors shut to new immigrants. So what do they do now? If this had happened when we were making our decision to relocate. we would be trapped/stranded too. Personally, I’m glad to be on this side. It’s not perfect, but as they say, there are no perfect solutions—only trade-offs. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Cyberknight: 9:43pm On Apr 03, 2025 |
Jamesclooney:Interesting viewpoint, but that's not what I was referring to. I shan't argue though - I don't do that anymore on this thread ever since I learned that quite a lot of folk on here support racial profiling. I bid you good night, sir. |

Zahra29:😂 You know our complaints and moaning is not even up to one tenth of that of the Brits themselves if we are being honest. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Goke7: 10:18pm On Apr 03, 2025 |
Cyberknight:Had a conversation with someone today who actually made me realise how much and very hardworking immigrants and all who have come in are which surpasses all the funny narratives that’s always been brought forward. Even what you stated above despite how sarcastic the reality is you go to those places mentioned and you see immigrants actually doing those environmental and cleaning jobs so indeed they are grateful and happy to be in a place giving them a chance. Most of what we see or hear from those who think otherwise are just unnecessary irritations to be ignored jare! |

Goke7:I'm not sure about that going by how much you complain on this thread 😂 But yes, Brits, like Germans, are known for moaning about everything from the weather to tea lol However for all their complaining, the vast majority are good citizens, patriotic and actively desire the country to succeed as they see it as their only home. Many volunteer in the NHS, schools etc, most are law/rule abiding, hardworking and honest, vote with their conscience etc |

Zahra29:I see you reverted your intro date from August to Feb. A quick search will show a lot if media reportage of abuse in 2022. I see you now say 'the home office should have done better'. Thats some improvement. |

Jamesclooney:💯 The UK is far from perfect, but then nowhere is, and when I see or hear what goes on in many places, including the countries we or our forebears emigrated from e.g. the lack of QOL, freedoms and services we take for granted here, then I'm most grateful that this is my home. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 8:19am On Apr 04, 2025 |
jedisco:I don't know what you mean here. I've never said that the Home Office was/ is blameless. There are many issues I've had with them over the years, and still have with them. But unlike you I'm fair and open minded enough to consider both sides instead of pointing fingers at only ONE party and absolving the other, also complicit party, of all accountability - even though it is their actions that have directly resulted in the impoverishment and suffering of many people who trusted them. |

lavida001:This is false equivalence. Doing that (as many have continued to do) does not stop those who decide to migrate from also speaking up against harms and issues they've encountered. There are over 200m Nigerians back home that continue to strive. You should always remember that when it comes to more recent migration, we as a group have hardly moved. In same vein, you can also go back and ask the Windrush boat arrivals why they didn't put thesame effort in rebuilding their home nations and instead started kicking up a fuss when asked to return home. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by jedisco(m): 8:32am On Apr 04, 2025 |
Zahra29:Lol.. I'm very happy we now agree the home office/British government were not 'unaware' of the numbers coming in or abuse many suffered. They acted irresponsibly in not being able to reign-in on rampant abuse quick enough in a system they introduced. Well, it's good that despite challenges, an overwhelming majority of care workers have continued on their pathway to longterm stay. |

| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Goodenoch: 8:42am On Apr 04, 2025 |
Zahra29:Correct but irrelevant. You were the one who started with the complaining comparisons, and there was no mention of being law abiding and patriotic etc because that’s irrelevant. The vast majority of immigrants are incredibly hard working and law abiding as well, so that’s irrelevant as well. The only reason you’re bringing these up now is because you want to reinforce that immigrants shouldn’t be speaking up about anything, like the way you said black people (not even just people from that person’s country) shouldn’t be crying when they are profiled after the crimes by a random black person. |
| Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Zahra29: 9:09am On Apr 04, 2025 |
jedisco:Erm don't put words in my mouth. I agree with the findings of the former Border chief that the Home Office should have forecast numbers/demand better and should have had much better resources in place to oversee the sponsorship process. Your prejudice doesn't allow you accept the culpability of the other party in actually perpetuating the "rampant abuse". It's okay, it's your prerogative to keep excusing them. I'm sure however that you'd think differently if you were a victim. |

I already said that it's a free country and so you are free to moan, complain and be as negative about the UK as much as your heart desires. |
