How would you rate these EPL strikers in terms of goal scoring ability as a CF and general football technique ?

1)Alan Shearer
2) Harry Kane
3) Wayne Rooney
4) Andrew Cole
5) Sergio Aguero
6) Henry
7) RVN

Shearer holds the record of the highest goals scored, but I don’t think he’s as talented as some of the guys on this list.

Looks like Garnacho is leaving at the end of the season. There are rumors he’s put his house in Manchester up for sale.

I didn't watch enough of Shearer and Andy Cole to form an opinion about them. But for the rest, I'll rate in terms of the goal scoring ability in the following order

1. Sergio Aguero
2. Henry
3. Harry Kane
4. RVN
5. Wayne Rooney

Everyone on this list played almost their entire careers as the central striker, except Rooney.

For their overall play, not judged by their goal-scoring ability, my ranking will be
1. Wayne Rooney
2. Harry Kane
3. Henry
4. Sergio Aguero
5. RVN

I could easily swap Kane and Rooney, though

It's a pity he is unable to get to that height I hoped he would with us. But if any good money comes for him, he can go please.

It is very difficult to rank them but what I would say is that Shearer is underrated by many people despite his goals.

Young Shearer was basically Harry Kane with better pace, power, shooting ability but less playmaking ability. If he had moved to Man Utd like SAF wanted this might not be a debate now.

Overall natural football ability it is Rooney and it’s not even close to be honest.

Rooney is the only player in EPL top 4 in goals and assists, and he did this despite never fulfilling his full potential. Rooney is the best talent the EPL has ever seen. Other players just ate better, drank alcohol less, and trained better.

Ranking Harry Kane ahead of Henry for ability is interesting
I'd also argue that Harry Kane and Henry are better goalscorers than Aguero
It's a difficult one really
RVN is probably the most underrated goalscorer of all time

I have always enjoyed Kane's ability to bring others into play as the striker and still end up in the box. I think he is probably the most team player in that list behind Rooney. And he didn't play alongside some very good players like the others on this list in the EPL.

As for Kane and Henry being better goal scorers than Aguero, I think it's very very close. All three have the same stats when you look at their goals per match stats

As for RVN you're probably right as an underrated goal scorer of all time. But when you look at his numbers in the EPL compared to others in that list, its not out of place for him to be considered the least.

As a pure 9. Shearer is still number one for me. Evey type of finish under the sun consistently. Extremely deadly. His eye for goal was 2nd to none. I truly believe if he had joined man utd instead of Newcastle SAF would have minimum 2 more champions league titles. Maybe more. Henry and Rooney are the best overall footballers. Kane, RvN and Aguero are similar level behind Shearer with Cole slightly behind.

Sound point.

I’d rate Henry above Harry Kane in terms of general football technique though. He’s got speed, close control , and his finishing is one of the best in his time. There’s a reason he’s called Igwe.

Seems Alan Shearer’s longevity is the major reason he’s on that list. It’d be interesting what his goal to game ratio would be compared with the likes of Henry, RVN, Aguero and Kane.

Probably. Heard he won the golden boot for 3 consecutive seasons. Harry Kane is the only guy that comes to mind who has repeated that feat.

But the ish is that other strikers of that era are spoken about more than Shearer. Henry, RVN, and others outside of England. Like Kane, he never won a medal and after finishing second in his first couple of seasons, Newcastle struggled majorly, in spite of his goals.

Rooney was a kind of jack of all trades, master of most guy. The guy can play anywhere in midfield and in the attack line, AND DELIVER. That’s probably why he wasn’t able to beat Shearer’s goal record.

This doesn’t take away from other fantastic talents like Henry and co though.

I read online about this kid. Basically a project baby from birth bred to be a footballer. Doesnt attend a school as he's homeschooled and trains nearly everyday since he could walk. Already signed to a PR company and has a Nike deal. Will be interesting to see how he turns out.

Maybe it's recency bias because I have watched Kane play both as a striker and in the 10 role in the same match at the same time in that Tottenham team. His short and long passes were good and used to switch play easily. I think he deserves to be rated more. He probably didn't have that trickery to go past defenders most times but close control and finishing? He had them. It's just unfortunate he made a decision to not play for any other club aside Tottenham in England.

He is technically very, very good. The question is if his physical development will match his technically ability. I watched him an Under-12 or Under-13 tournament a couple of years ago when CR7 was still here and the team had CR7's son, Shoretire's younger brother, Rooney's son and he was far better than all of them. Under-18 is another level though and then the senior team is a whole different kettle of fish.

A major issue is potential attitude problems because it seems his father (like you alluded too) has groomed him from early childhood to be a money-making machine for the family. He is always threatening to pull the boy from the academy because we are not promoting him early enough. Shoretire's father did the same thing, and it affected the boy's development.

Many clubs are after him and something tells me he will leave, and it could be City, Chelsea, or Barca.

I don’t disagree. I just see Henry as a very devastating player individually. He can create something from nothing consistently. Kane (and Shearer probably) need people around them for you to see their talent. That’s probably why Rooney is rated higher more often. He can be dangerous individually and he’s also superb at creating with others. It’s a pity he didn’t win any ballon d’or or consistently get close to winning it.

Shearer won the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers. He and Sutton formed the SAS attack to win the league in 1994-1995. He won the Golden Boot in Euro 1996 and made the team of the tournament. He also made both Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year podiums.

After age 27 Shearer was physically not the same player because of injuries. For one, his acceleration was gone but he still retained his heading and shooting ability. As a striker he had more tools than most of those guys on that list even though i would say Rooney and Henry are the best footballers in the list.

Calm down. These are kids.

Also this was a completely different starting 11 from the Villa game apart from Dan Armer.

It says something about our depth that our 2nd team can win a game 13-1. If not that City are also incredibly loaded we would have been talking about a repeat as league champions.
