Hello everyone! Greetings of the day!
Please advise me on this issue:
I've just gotten admission for a 2 years master course at Mount saint Vincent University but I want to differ this admission till next year due to some unforseen circumstances. Is it possible I apply for my study permit before the diferral as their requirements keep changing every year. Is it possible I apply and keep my visa with me till next year when I'm ready to go? Thank you

HI guys, does the info below mean that spouses of 1 year Masters degree students don't get work permit any longer?

Who can apply
Your spouse or common-law partner must meet the eligibility criteria listed below to be eligible for an open work permit.

Starting January 21, 2025, your spouse or common-law partner may be eligible for an open work permit if you have a valid study permit and you’re either

studying in a master’s degree program of 16 months or longer
studying in a doctoral degree program
participating in an eligible program, or
studying in one of the following professional degree programs at a university:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS, DMD)
Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor (LLB, JD, BCL)
Doctor of Medicine (MD)
Doctor of Optometry (OD)
Pharmacy (PharmD, BS, BSc, BPharm)

Not normal, are they using an agent?

The primary applicant who is her fiancée did his biometrics some years back when he wanted to travel but she has not been called for biometrics and there has not been a request for their passport since may of 2024 that’s when they have been on this that’s why I asked what the issue could be

May 2024, till now and someone has not been called for biometrics is too long. That is why I asked if they are using an agent who is not giving them the real facts about the application.

They are using an agent but is it possible for it to take so long for a spouse to be called for biometrics ?

Something has probably gone wrong with the application. Probably a communication problem. It's time you request for login details to access your acct.

Thanks for your response, I finished school 2022.

zubizareta:
The honest truth is from my personal observation on various GCMs notes I have seen recently, no matter who your sponsor is, the applicant's economic/employment establishment in his/her country is greatly influential in these applications especially those applicant's that have finished school atleast 5 years ago. Newly school leavers in their late 20s can be excused. Don't know your age or when you finished school. But these stuffs are factors that also now affect applications.
Apart from making sure you show relationship between your dad and you, show his source of income and all supporting docs, if possible demonstrate further by making further Expenses from his acct, you will need to convince the VO that you are economically established in your country if you have finished school significant years ago.

I saw an application rejected for this same reason. GCMS notes stated the person wasn't economically established because his salary was about 300dollars(VO converted the naira months salary of the person). This is despite the person fully paying tuition and doing 20k GIC for a 1 year program that his brother fully sponsored him for.
I understood the VO logic cos the person was presumed to have finished school years back and been working for over 6 to 7years. VO is probably asking himself, will this person return to naija after study in Canada? Am sure you understand my point.

Yes, it is possible, but I won't advise you to change program.

Hello everyone, I'm new on this thread, I submitted my study application in January got a refusal in about 3 weeks stating insufficient funds(12m in personal account, 16m in investment account plus paid first semester tuition fees. I added 2 inherited properties in my name valued at 88m (one of which is rented and i stay in the 2nd with my wife and son). Documents submitted includes:
Statements and reference letters from banks
Work appointment letter and ID
Affidavit of gift deed from wife (12m)
Property gift deed from late father
Property evaluation
SOP/LOE

I reapplied showing same amount in my accounts as well as a GIC account in canada with 10k CAD deposited. It's over 6 weeks with no updates. Please are there any additional documents I should upload via webform?

NB: I have a job that pays 300k monthly with a reputable organization, i receive a combined annual rental income of 2.5m

Thanks so much
damyzel:
Hi EseFUF,

1. Ensure your spouse is eligible for it, depending on the course and duration of your study.
2. Write a well detailed statement of purpose (with heading: Application for Spouse open work permit)
3. Fill the required form on the application portal.
4. check for utube video and watch.
5. Check previous post on this platform.
6. Commit it to God's hands in prayer.
I pray this helps as i don't have info on what you have done so far. Regards,

Hello guys
I applied for study visa last month , I received a refusal letter this week. Pls I need advice on the next step and is there a probability I will get the visa if I reapply
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Anndav(f): 10:31pm On Apr 10, 2025
Sorry for your refusal, only the visa officer can answer that

But fromyour own side order a GCMS notes and know the real reason for refusal, adress all the visa officer's concerns and resubmit.

That GCMS is what I can order myself right with no external help, and is there a fee for it

6 months? You aren't eligible for a Study permit as an intl student.

People have gotten visa approvals on the 3rd or 4th attemp after initial refusal(s). So the answer is yes if you can address the concerns of the VO. Be ready to prove the funds you have aren't for demonstrative purposes anyway
