PrinceofAgoAre:Of course, it's not familiar. It's not our regular sound. Nigerians can put words to any sound, then claim it, if you give them the chance. PrinceofAgoAre:Exactly. That is how Nigerians "borrow" stuff, then add something to it to make it their own. |
| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by PrinceofAgoAre(m): 3:16pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Mariangeles:well it's called afro fusion for a start.. |

Samantha125:Wow very interesting.. Amapiano is the least interesting here. Gqom, kwaito and 3-steps are bomb beats. At least now I know where to source for the right samples to infuse in my stuff now 😁 |

There are still other genres that I didn't post... We have a variety of music to listen to here in SA, it's not only amapiano... In fact, there are some provinces whereby even though we do listen to amapiano, but it's not a big genre there. Oh! You're a musician?😃😃😃 dkidd: |

PrinceofAgoAre:In other words, steal. 😌 When they want to steal a sound, they add "afro" into it. You people will soon cook up afro-reggaeton. |

Samantha125:Cool... Not a musician. I write songs and design sounds |
| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Nobody: 4:46pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Mariangeles:Lol not stealing... It's just emulating a style U find appealing and making a unique blend with it. It's done the world over. That's actually how sounds evolve |

dkidd:Of course, art births art. The issue is some Nigerians don't like giving credit to whom it is due. They hate to admit where they get inspiration from. Nigerians are very creative people, but they should learn to give credit. |

Samantha125, here's a typical Nigerian sound. Have you heard this song? It's one of my favorites. The sound is simple and well put together. It is what attracted me to the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pDQjwaH3qk?si=Cp6f7ht0M78s4s9n |

| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 6:53pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Yes, this is the kind of sound we want to hear when some of us foreign nationals listen to Nigeria's Afrobeat... Everything about it is pure Nigerian... This is AFROBEAT... It's clean, simple, and I love it. Not all these amapiano, lekompo, hip hop, or whatever genre your people would be referring to as Afrobeat when there's nothing afrobeating about them. Mariangeles:you call it a steal .. I call it being creative ... We fuse different sound to create a a new sound .. I don't see how it's steal... |

Samantha125:This is Afrobeat (Hip-hop) The same beat as the 'Jerusalema' song. |
| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 9:10pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
That's what I'm saying, it's lekompo and not Afrobeat... Jerusalem falls under lekompo music. But I like the fact that you were able to tell the similarities between both songs. placeofallure: |
| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Nobody: 9:18pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Samantha125:Lol... Yeah ask |

| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by placeofallure(f): 9:39pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Samantha125:I care little what beat or genre songs fall into. I like to vibe to songs that are sweet in my ears and songs with great lyrics too. Before now, I don't know anything about Lekompo beats but I love SA songs and artistes....Lucky Dube, Ringo, Hugh Masekela, Jeff Maluleke, Brenda Fassie and Joyous Celebration. My playlist is flooded with their songs. To me, music is a universal language. |

| Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Nobody: 10:11pm On Apr 08, 2025 |
Samantha125:Lol I don't oo... Only in Naija there are also different classes of music too not everything is afrobeats. It's mostly the untrained ears that term every music afrobeats. There's afrobeats and there's afrobeat, JuJu, Fuji, highlife, different types of ingenious rap, afro JuJu,afro pop, ogene, all the over 200+ ethnicities have their own music too to name a few |
