Cousin9999:
It's afropiano, an alternative for people who like amapiano, but don't want to support racist mulattos from South Africa.

ETA: But yes, technically it's house music. Shout out to Frankie Knuckles and Chitown.
Never heard of a afropiano ..

It's just afro fusion.. that's all...

Unfamiliar lol ..

I can't tell you don't really listen to music on a wide range ..
Of course, it's not familiar.
It's not our regular sound.

Nigerians can put words to any sound, then claim it, if you give them the chance.

Exactly. That is how Nigerians "borrow" stuff, then add something to it to make it their own.

I might not be a music expert, but I'll try to explain since I love music.

1. Amapiano
It's a fusion of deep house, kwaito, and soul with a high pitched piano melodies and log drum bassline.

2. Barcadi music
It has a wobbly bassline and a local style of drumming.

4. Lekompo music

Already I posted two other videos.

5. Kwaito music
It has a slower tempo and it's a fusion of house, hip hop, and traditional SA music... It's the father to all the above-mentioned genres.

Wow very interesting.. Amapiano is the least interesting here. Gqom, kwaito and 3-steps are bomb beats. At least now I know where to source for the right samples to infuse in my stuff now 😁

Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 4:18pm On Apr 08, 2025
There are still other genres that I didn't post... We have a variety of music to listen to here in SA, it's not only amapiano... In fact, there are some provinces whereby even though we do listen to amapiano, but it's not a big genre there.

Oh! You're a musician?😃😃😃

In other words, steal. 😌

When they want to steal a sound, they add "afro" into it.

You people will soon cook up afro-reggaeton.

Lol not stealing... It's just emulating a style U find appealing and making a unique blend with it. It's done the world over. That's actually how sounds evolve

Of course, art births art.

The issue is some Nigerians don't like giving credit to whom it is due.
They hate to admit where they get inspiration from.

Nigerians are very creative people, but they should learn to give credit.

Samantha125, here's a typical Nigerian sound.

Have you heard this song?
It's one of my favorites.
The sound is simple and well put together.
It is what attracted me to the song.

You're a music producer?
Do you have a studio or you pay for studio sessions?
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 6:53pm On Apr 08, 2025
Yes, this is the kind of sound we want to hear when some of us foreign nationals listen to Nigeria's Afrobeat... Everything about it is pure Nigerian... This is AFROBEAT... It's clean, simple, and I love it.

Not all these amapiano, lekompo, hip hop, or whatever genre your people would be referring to as Afrobeat when there's nothing afrobeating about them.

This is Afrobeat (Hip-hop) The same beat as the 'Jerusalema' song.
Re: Nigerians, What Genre Of Music Is This? by Samantha125(op): 9:10pm On Apr 08, 2025
That's what I'm saying, it's lekompo and not Afrobeat... Jerusalem falls under lekompo music.

But I like the fact that you were able to tell the similarities between both songs.

I care little what beat or genre songs fall into. I like to vibe to songs that are sweet in my ears and songs with great lyrics too.
Before now, I don't know anything about Lekompo beats but I love SA songs and artistes....Lucky Dube, Ringo, Hugh Masekela, Jeff Maluleke, Brenda Fassie and Joyous Celebration. My playlist is flooded with their songs. To me, music is a universal language.
