kettykings:This is really beautiful and, for the first time, an intellectual departure from the usual NZOGBU NZOGBU threats & chestbeatings of the SE and its people. However, when you say the region has been marginalised, the question is by whom? The SE region was in the corridors of power from 1999 to 2015 and throughout those 16 years, not once did we hear any complaints of marginalisation from you and your people. The region chose to put all its eggs in one basket in all presidential elections since 1999, serving the PDP from 1999 till 2022 and then going wholly for Labour Party in 2023, choosing then to even badly beat up any of its own people who dared express a different opinion by voting for opposing parties. Why should the ruling party then share out all its offices to the SE that has no time for it, especially one that still hates it to the core today and is still desperate to vote it’s own in 2027? Should the ruling party then leave those who worked hard for it, only to appoint those who hate it and will still not vote for it in subsequent elections? I don’t get it. I just don’t get these marginalisation LIES? |

owobokiri:I don't think the argument of the superiority of political power over economic power is a correct one. Neither do I think it is a 'chicken or egg, what came first' one. You certainly cannot try to build one before and over the other. They are both sides of a coin in my opinion. |

Asidy:I tell you this, if there is a region among the three southern regions that fits the northern region perspective, it's the SW region! Oh boy, that region and its people are completely unfit to be part of the south. They are off the southern grid by a wider margin! ![]() |

OgaSeun:Where's the joke? Go and ask your forefathers of the origin of the word "Igbo made". They laughed at the quality and shunned it, while embracing Italian, UK, Brazil, America etc. If the leadership had funded such enterprises who tried to create a value chain, they would upgrade but religion and tribalism was used to siphon the national wealth overseas. |

kettykings:Igbos are a bit one dimensional to be honest. Everything to you all is aggression, hate etc. I can't say I blame you though. If I have been locked out of the topmost position in national politics, maybe I would react that way too. Even though I suspect it's just the way you are. In my opinion, what you really need is not the anger of the lion, but the cunning of the fox and the smarts of the hare. Not every time ogbunigwe. |

Gerrard59:that is a question I can't answer. But I'm certain the insecurities in the South East has nothing to do with the govt. Our youths should get themselves engaged in productive activities and leave criminality. The govt might show little or no concern if you blow-up Ur region, but I'm certain govt has no hand in it. 1 in every 10boys in Nigeria is into yahoo, cultism etc, why won't there be insecurity? Nnamdi Kanu's style of advocacy birthed the violence in the South East. There are better ways of clamouring for inclusion and common responsibility, his methodology is disastrous. Our senators and house of reps members, what are they doing? A walkout of the dealings in the national assembly and an agreement not to return unless we discuss Nigeria and agree on a common goal for the benefit of all Nigerians will achieve much more. But they blv in primitive accumulation. |

kettykings:While your points are nicely articulated and action plans well enunciated, I doubt if the Igbo elites( business and politics) and intelligentsia are ready for this beautiful transition. Politically, none of the South East Governors, appointed officials like ministers, board chairmen, Senators and other ranking guys seem to toe this line. Individualism, zero commitment, and lack of cooperation among the Igbo elites seem to be taking the winds out of the sail of the Igbo question. Senator Abaribe is the lone voice that has been pontificating on the sidelining of Igbos in the affairs of Nigeria. Others in the Senate do not care as far as they are getting their undeserved millions on a monthly basis. If the Senators, HOR members and Ministers from the SE consciously legislate on the need for a viable port in the SE, I can tell you that the shift you are kindly advising and clamouring for will be organic and effortless. The captains of industry from the Igbo stock do not help either. I used to be in marine logistics and I can tell you that most of what makes the Lagos seaport tick is the volume of commerce originating from Igbo traders. Why is there no FUNCTIONAL port that has proximity to the South East? Why should an importer of materials be bothering himself with extra road haulage costs from Lagos to Aba, Onitsha, Enugu etc when there is Onne and Port Harcourt. There are subtle ways that legislators can be canvassed by businessmen for a bill or a motion of this nature to be moved. But the truth is, they don’t really care, as far as they glean some profits for them selves. This seem largely because they are benefiting from the status quo, and don’t want the apple cart to be overturned until they've had their fill. Individual and self-centred pursuit is the bane of this seemingly utopian transition. |

Bintasukai:You know this because you have stayed with igbo people for a long time or you have lived in the east with them? By being cunning as a fox you mean supporting lopsided appointments or clapping for corruption? I ask you this because no igbo person worth his/her salt will ever do so By the way ogbunigwe in the context you used it is wrong for your post That bomb ceased to exist in the 70s Cheers |

LZAA:I've interacted with enough Igbo people to know the score. That's okay if you think it's beneath you and you can not stoop to conquer. To be clear, I have not asked you to do anything unethical or immoral so your inability to do it just speaks to your not having the skill to do so, even though I know you are not speaking for all igbos. The original post referenced ogbunigwe. |
