Air Peace Suspends Operations At Enugu Airport by InfoGuru118(op): 6:27am On Apr 19, 2025

One of the major airlines in the country, Air Peace, has announced suspension of flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, until further notice, News360 Nigeria reports.

A statement signed by Head of Corporate Communications of the airline, Ejike Ndiulo, on Friday, said the move was prompted by safety concerns.

It reads: “Dear Esteemed Passenger,
“We regret to inform you that all flights scheduled to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu are temporarily suspended due to safety concerns of the Enugu airport runway. The situation of the Enugu runway has been causing major disruptions to Air Peace flights, hence the decision to temporarily suspend further flights into this airport until further notice.

“At Air Peace, we prioritize Safety first over convenience. We believe that if flights are not operated into this aerodrome for the next few days, it will allow FAAN the opportunity to perform the necessary repairs on the runway.

“To this end, please be informed that all flights scheduled into and out of Enugu will now be operated into and out of Asaba airport. We regret any inconvenience this change might have caused.”

The situation of the Enugu runway has been causing major disruptions to Air Peace flights, hence the decision to temporarily suspend further flights into this airport until further notice

Maintenance culture is one of our problems in Nigeria.

It may be because Asaba Airport is less busy and in better position to handle the extra traffic without resulting in further delays.

Ebonyi Airport is not ready to handle regular commercial flights.

I can tell you that APC govt in truth,has no true vision or political will to fix every part of Nigeria and this is why since they took over governance,Nigeria has been on the downward drive. I am not holding brief for PDP,but PDP is far more nationalistic than those tribal supremacists in APC.

It is Igbos stealing the rail tracks in Igboland, but maintenance is what you are crying about.
Oregun road in Ikeja was done by Julius Berger with a warranty of 14 years. It's almost 20 years now. Go there, no single pothole on that road. Thousands of vehicles and trucks pass there every day. But Enugu tarmac has turned to Auchi road road 10 years.

Even the airport that the Igbo minister did in Igboland, have you forgotten how it got flooded when the first rain fell after it was commissioned?

You may not know that we've had 2 Igbos as aviation ministers in the past 10 years. So, your marginalization tears won't fly.

No one is afraid of the SE leaving. There are more vehicles of people running from the SE to other parts of Nigeria than there are vehicles taking people to SE.
