You don't know what you are talking about.
Igala communities in Anambra west are co existing with the Igbo ones there, they are not migrants that were welcomed.
However, there are tons of Igbo speaking communities in Kogi East, so maybe could do boundary adjustment there.

I just heard an igbanke guy say on a twitter space. He went to the the government office in benin city to get some form of identification document. They denied him at first because he had an igbo name. He had to call someone else working in the ministry to help me confirm that he was actually from Edo state. Yet Edo will say, Igbanke are Edo and they discriminated the guy because he had an igbo name. I also heard today that Rema's dad is Justice chukwuma Ikubor. Rema is from Igbanke in Edo state.

I am a true born Edo Man, and I say if the people Igbanke which to be associated and identified as Igbo, then good luck to them. We Edo's should not be loose any sleep over this. One thing I will say to the wider Igbo community, Edo has ALWAYS been a very tolereant and welcoming state. Many Igbo people have lived and prospered in our state and NEVER have the igbo been intermidated in anyway. After the Civil War, not a single Igbo person Edo land lost their property or land. In Edo we strive for fairness, in the past Benin people have votted for Oshimole against a Benin man, and in the last election most Benin people insisted the governor must come from the central for fairness.
We've been kind and welcoming to the Igbos, and supported Obi with our sweat, money and prayers. What do we now get in return? Our revered Monarch being insulted all over social media. It's ok. Maybe our Youruba cousins were correct all along when it comes to Igbo people. We may be slow learners, but we learn. Lets see how things change going forward.

You are right, as ex-military governor he still had some level of influence in subsequent military regimes including the 90s.

When the military council wants to create states, they consult their military friends colleagues who are indigenous from that area for recommendations.

I attended a military school during Abacha's day, I know how military camaraderie and esprit de corp works.

The fact that Kwara spoke Yoruba and were mainly Yorubas in Yorubaland didn't stop Azikiwe and their fathers from insisting that Kwara belonged to the North.
