Apologies, I read that in a refusal letter in a post just above yours. The circumstances are identical.

The gist is still the same

Knowlegeseeking:
I think you are mistaken mine with someone else. No where in the refusal email did the ECO state anything relating to rental income or evidence of proof of it coming to her.

You are right to try to look at things from the ECO’s point of view. But in this case, the ECO has clearly misrepresented what was submitted on the application form. Unemployed is different from Retired — and the difference is not a small one. Retired implies pension income, which the Poster said they submitted evidence of. That’s a home tie right there. They also submitted evidence of rental income. Another home tie.

A lack of dependents in Nigeria is not a criteria to have your visa refused. I have no dependents — not married, no kids, no elderly parent that needs me — and yet, my visas have never been refused. Applied for my mother, who also has no dependents, and she too received her visa.

A lot of these ECOs are beyond incompetent, to say the least. Read some refusal letters and you’ll see fantastic errors, from grammatical blunders to downright misstating of facts. We should never take their words as gospel.

I cannot guarantee that the Home Office will backtrack and grant the visa, but I believe a complaint is in order in this case.
I support your stance 100%

It is not every refusal that should be accepted hook, line and sinker. They make mistakes. Big time.

In Nigerian slang, they are only Visa Officers, they are not God.

Refusal loading.

Abort mission.

You are expected to use your personal statement of account - not your business statement of account.

If you use one account for your personal stuff and business transactions, you need to seperate them asap

Hi guys,

My mother in-law's uk visit visa was rejected.

We intend to try again in 3 to 4 months time and will like to seek advise on what we should or can do better to boost her chances.

Many thanks.
How much was the balance in the account of your sponsors?

Where do they live? Rented apartment or theirs?

Good morning guys!!
Please, I need help..
1. My sister is on postgraduate visa working in the UK.
2. My wife is currently on a student visa in the UK too.

Now, here is my case:
I want to apply for a visit visa to go visit my wife, as it's been almost a year now( body no be firewood).

I am confused on whether to use my sister or my wife as partial sponsor.

I have over 6 million in my salary account and earns above 700k/M.

I want to use my sister as partial sponsor as she wants to support with £1000.

But I'm going to visit my wife(I can't use her as sponsor as she recently works above the allowed number of hours).

But my wife is the one inviting me and all.

I intend to spend £1500 total on the trip..that is, my sister £1000 and myself £500..

Then her payslip and all.

NB: I have 2 kids in Nigeria, I own properties, I work, and also a pastor in a church..

Please, is this feasible?
Someone please help evaluate my profile

Good morning house, Pls I want to be sure that I have seen some post here before, addressing how much one should fill for the questions. How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit to the UK?

Answer should be £1 or the amount the sponsor is paying towards the visit?

Thank you 🙏🏾

Remove your sister’s sponsorship. A grown adult who says he can afford a holiday to see his wife— why does his sister need to bring in money?
If you can not fully sponsor yourself to visit your wife then why do you need the trip?— that’s the question on the ECO’s mind.
Sponsor yourself. You should be able to sponsor with £1300. Put the trip as 1 week. Your wife is providing accommodation and feeding so you dont have to.
Your children in Nigeria can be seen to be your ties- provide every proof that they are in Nigeria and in school and also make sure you mention that you have made arrangements for their 24/7 care for the period you will be out of the country.
Sponsor ur trip. If your account statement is in shambles and you have no travel history to a 1st world country pls delay this trip and put things in order.
Again present all your ties.
Leave letted, employment letter, promotion letter, work id and pictures at work very important. Establish that you have a stable job to add to your ties as your children will be the main tie.
Lastly, fill the application form very carefully.

If applicant is sponsored—- the question which asks how much applicant is personally spending is £1 or 1 naira—- whichever you fancy.

How do one know if Visa was approved or denied?

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by borryworld: 2:22pm On May 02, 2025
Thanks. I really appreciate this response.
volticvox:
Sure! A complaint is different from an appeal. If you feel the ECO has made an error in your decision and you want to call their attention to it, send an email to complaints@homeoffice.gov.uk. Since you’re looking to do it yourself, make sure you present your issue in a sensible and professional manner. Identify all the areas you feel they overlooked with reasonable measures and make them see why it was a flawed decision. The Home Office can be tricky as they might come back with a different reason for refusal. That is why your case must be foolproof before you try to pushback. I suggest you analyse your case thoroughly and ensure you understand the merits before proceeding with a complaint. You are not guaranteed a response, but if you feel you have a shot and want to shake them further, get a lawyer to send a PAP.

I think once you see this email and you did not receive any other mail like refusal mail .. it means your visa is granted .

Respectfully, a dependent is an home tie.

I have a Sierra Leone passport with different surname and Nigeria passport with another surname, my Sierra Leone passport have been denied a USA visa on it in 2017, but my Nigeria passport have not been denied a visa on it. I want to apply for a uk student visa with my Nigeria passport because the surname on it have the name on all my credentials, I heard uk and USA share data to thier self, I want to know if this wount cause an issues for me or what are my chances for the uk visa application.
When applying for a visa, tell the truth. You can still get a visa regardless of whether your previous application was denied or not.

What's the purpose of carrying 2 passports with different names?

In any case, your DNA will always reveal who you are regardless of the name or passport you choose to use.

The Sierra leone passport have expired am not renewing it. I have sworn an affidavit for the change of name, and will also declare have been refused a visa before in the application.I hope this will be enough to convince them in getting the visa.

Those are not enough. You will need more convincing documents to support your application.

Documents that can show that you have home ties here in Nigeria, like family evidence, a letter from your employer, and evidence of landed or house property, if you have any.

Also, documents to prove your financial status, like bank statements, payslips, etc.

If you are a business owner, include your company registration documents.
