The law allows anyone to file for full-custody of the children in a divorce case. During the proceedings, both may decide to negotiate and settle for shared custody instead. Stop making unnecessary noise for zero-value attention. If your case is in court, you are best to be on your best behavior and maybe leave social media until after the case is done.

The man should get a lawyer if his case is complicated.

What I know is that if the man is not a criminal, a drug addict and no proof of him being abusive to his children, he can get 50pct custody in court by just showing up in court even without a lawyer.

Women requesting full custody and all assets when they file for divorce in western countries is a general standard template. It doesn't mean she will get all the "wish list" on the template in court.

I saw the post on Facebook. I think women are same worldwide and the only reason the ones in Nigeria appear normal is because of extant laws; traditional & secular. The day we in Africa get to that point where women think they are in FREE in feminist terms, expect men to start dropping like flies. Gradually the boy child is becoming an endangered sex.

Joint custody is not always in the best interest of the kids. That is why each situation is treated on a case by case basis in the courts.

Says the Law, Psychiatrists, and other Childcare experts whose opinions may be called upon to weigh in on the situation.

From the little I've seen and know, he's as good as kissing his family goodbye.
.. some folks may lose it and take things to the extreme when they can take it no more.
It might be better that the man makes his way back home and starts life all over again.

Errr, don't think this always works. I know a couple that the man is divorcing his 2nd wife here and she's filed abroad (and sued him for a bazillion $$). As long as both of them are domiciled abroad, the other person will have her lawyer argue that the man filed in Nigeria because he's trying to take advantage of a corrupt judicial system (which is exactly what the 2nd wife argued in US court and she got that).

I mean, what oyinbo judge won't hear that and nod in agreement, especially now that people are now faking legal divorce documents because they want to japa and they're rejecting them abroad because of verification?

NO, both the man and the woman forgot that marriage is , basically, both man and woman serving each other.
