Good afternoon everyone,
My mum in law biometric was on the 22nd of April, standard application. Her passport was dispatched today through the courier around 14:44, without any attached document, does that mean it was approved?

Hi guys.

Recently started following this forum and it's been quite informative (wish I saw it sooner). Big ups to everyone involved.

At the moment, I am in a fix and I'm looking for advice on this.

On April 16th I went for my biometrics at VFS VI in which this is my first attempt at it, and I wasn't having prior knowledge of the process / duration it takes, blindly assuming that whatever the outcome was I would have gotten a response before May 10th as I would be traveling on that day (not to the UK) and will be requiring my passport.

Still no word from my application as at today.

My question, is there any way whatsoever I can get my passport out?

If I can get it on Friday, that's ok as well but really need it by then.

Yes, if no email attachment from ukvi. Where was her biometric? I also have someone who captured on the 22nd at Ikeja.

@kentdealer you tried to create a ‘big’ profile and they knew something was not right in the tea. That’s why they said they do not know how you came about your income.
You chose not to add the business account statements because this was a generated profile to obtain a visa.
Also no travel history from you for them to ignore this.
From your write up you mentioned you have over 9.7m in your account so according to you this is enough reason for them to give you a visa but unfortunately it does not work that way for UK visa in this 2025.
Things have changed.

You will most likely receive your decision by tomorrow, as tomorrow make it the 15th working day.

Ur 15th working day is May 12th as there was a public holiday yesterday as well as Good friday on April 17th and Easter monday April 21st— home office timelines not counted on PH.

If a response comes before May the 12th count yourself lucky.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by champagne00:
Funny, got a response last night and it's laughable.

The first reason is my dads address and I do not live with him anymore since I opened the account when I got into the university and graduated already, also my dads address was clearly filled in the form for family.

The second reason I do not understand because I have been saving for a long time and when GTBank moved their CBS redeposited my money that's why the opening balance is high, not even for the UK, opening balance is money that you have saved till the point the bank statement started. Plus, I was even transacting on the account and the remaining balance was about 3.5KGBP and I said I had 5K GBP in savings so included my salary account statement which had $6K and clearly shows my salary coming in and transaction made as well.

I even included different pictures of me and my dad, family (even picture with my aunt that invited me we took when she was in nigeria) also me at my work place because I still traveled there this year.

My salary was inconsistent without me explaining and money I stated to be spent was much (£4k).

What do you think please
Any advice
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Kwati:
@kentdealer, so sorry to hear about your refusal.
I think one thing to look out according to the refusal letter is your disposal income and cost of the planned trip.
Looking at the documents you listed it shows that you can afford the trip with ease; however, it looks like the ECO seems to be concerned you planned to spend more than 6 months of your disposal income for the trip.
May be it's something for you to double check also.

kentdealer:
Refusal!!!

First time of applying

Guru in the house please me what I can do to make it better in my next application, Obviously not this year again.

Pics of my family
Clean personal account with no money lodgment. Just salary and monthly expenses were withdrawn. Additional incomes are from Interest on savings and mutual funds account.

Address them before reapplying

Clean your account

Ticket is N1.3m
Hotel is about 50 pounds a night
feeding 50 pounds a day
Transportation 300 pounds
tourism 200 pounds

Your closing balance should be 3 times total proposed spending

Make sure its only one source of inflow to your account and your monthly expenses must be exactly what you stated in the form
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by kentdealer(m): 2:45pm On May 07, 2025
@Kwati

It’s unrealistic for them to expect a £1,300 budget when the flight alone is £700. I actually have three times that amount in my account, but if they’re in a hurry to refuse the application, they likely won’t take the time to look closely.

They should hold their visa for now, let me carry my money to another country to enjoy and come back home.
Okay thank you very much.
The treasury bill I did in January liquidated last month making the balance 17m. Hope the amount isn't too much?
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by davodyguy: 3:04pm On May 07, 2025

You better wait another 6 months afresh

Do not let any 17million be in your account.

Count 6 months from this May

Move out the 17million for another treasury bill or fixed deposit that will mature in November, 2025

Then use you statement in October, 2025 to apply.

Move that money out of the account

Does anyone have any idea why my mum's visit visa is being delayed. Biometric on 28th Feb and till date nothing. Just generic responses each time we follow up.

I'm fine, thanks. Not yet. With the crowd I met at VFS Ikeja on that day, 17th, the day before the good Friday, I already know getting a feedback may not be as quick as current trend before that day. I guess a lot of people wanted to get their application in before the Easter holiday.
I do not know how VFS did it, but the place was in total chaos on that day with multitude of people. There was a lot of pushing and shoving to get access into the facility. It was unbelievable. Total breakdown of order.

Since someone is just refused because of over 6months disposable income.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by volticvox: 6:14pm On May 07, 2025
First of all, sorry about the refusal. It is frustrating to say the least.

In my opinion, these refusal reasons do not hold so much weight and you potentially have a good case to send the Home Office a complaint challenging both reasons.

For reason 1, people change addresses every time and they forget to update their bank accounts to reflect that sometimes. As it is, the ECO did not question or declare your bank statement as fraudulent/fake. They actually acknowledged its authenticity. Now, the burden of proof rests on you to confirm that you are the owner of the account. If you have anything to show when you opened the account or even to prove that the address on the statement is your dad’s address, then I suggest you get these documents together, and send in a complaint challenging the first refusal reason.

For reason 2, if indeed your opening balance is what they question, and not a huge deposit that appears in the first month of your bank statement, I suggest you counter this reason by proving that you have always been in possession of the stated amount. People can build their bank accounts overtime, so I suggest that you furnish your claim with historical bank statements of up to a year to prove that the money is indeed yours and it has naturally accrued. As long as the statements are clean and devoid of any large unexplained sums, attach as evidence in the same complaint email.

This is only a suggestion and you can choose to make an attempt on it, or make a fresh application, but including sufficient evidence addressing all the reasons for the previous rejection.

Just my two cents!

P.s. another thing to think about is whether your application was refused due to your immigration history. That point was highlighted as one of the things considered in your case.

The months don't matter.

What matters is for you to prove the source of your savings and home ties to Nigeria.

Sorry about the refusal.

The point on address doesn't make sense to me honestly. The visa officer was just fishing for a reason - any reason.

Same thing for point on opening balance.

Do you have any travel history? If you don't try schengen or US visa. For now, they are not so strict on what goes in and out of your account like the UK. Use them to build your travel history.

As for this refusal, I'm honestly trying to understand the reasons for the refusal. They do not make sense to me.

Schengen is more focused on closing balance.

Italy and France for emphasis, none stressed, and visas were issued at first attempt respectively
