I think subscribe is more appropriate term to use, not buy, since the term buy suggests he can own her—loyalty included—for life with just a one-time payment. He has to keep bringing money to the table to keep the woman's loyalty, along with her submission, as his own. That is the traditional relationship/marriage system in Nigeria. The man is the provider while the woman submits wholly to him during this time.

But what happens when the man is no longer able to provide? What happens when the traditional marriage/relationship system requirement can no longer be met by the man, when he becomes unemployed or incapacitated? Well, once the money runs out, the system subscription is over, leaving the woman with the option to move on to other subscribers or renegotiate the contract that initially existed with her and the man. Either choice is reasonable.

Yes, go to any Nigerian hospital...there are children who suffer from severe malnutrition in the wards. And you see their mothers and they do not look happy at all...until the child is about to be discharged having gained some weight.
