I want to dig a well on a huge plot of land to do small farming but I don't know the best a d cheapest means of automated watering. I should be able to connect the device into the well and to the sprayers, so I can spray for at least 2 hours in the morning and two hours before 6pm.
Get a good and experienced plumber to do that for you.

I understand but shouldn't I know the machineries involved so I will understand what to expect?

You will need sprinklers, water hose, water pipe, and connectors.

The plumber will help in connecting them properly.

This is well understood but what is the device that pulls up the water? I don't want to instal a pumping machine that would consume fuel or anything similar

There's no way you can achieve proper sprinkling of water without installing pressure pump. It is the pressure in the machine that will facilitate the movement of the water for even distribution. I hope you get it now.

There was this Chinese man called Mr Lot who worked on one of my then client's big farms. He made a device, connecting the huge farm with a nearby river. Everyday and in all the seasons, the farm was always green and produced wonders. There was no pressure pump there o! I wish I knew what he ready did that time.

There is this man not far from my house, he doesn't use sprinkler on his one plot. He only used hoses laying down along the straight ridges and connected to the main bigger hose which was connected to the overhead tank. You should have seen his tomato plants

A plot of land is not too big anyway, to save cost you can use hose connected to an overhead tank to water your farm (morning and evening) or at least evening time.

My previous thread about melon and water melon farm during the last raining season https://www.nairaland.com/8074655/me-working-melon-egusi-farm

I know that this is coming a bit late for me to post as everything has come to an end from the start to the harvest. I forgot completely to do this, may be na Tinubu's palava caused it cheesy
I planted one plot of dry season maize intercropping it with few tomato and okro plants and they all came out well. Some maize plants even carried two cobs. Tomatoes too did exceptionally well (we gave a lots of them out) while we harvested okro too a few times, those of them that survived the snails attacks after germination BTW.
And of course, there was another three separate plots that turned out to be a disaster, waste of resources and my efforts, I waited a bit long to start. Labour cost, herbicides cost, fertiliser cost and my time and effort went down the drain. But, that's farming without source of irrigation for you anyway. And to think that many people spent hugely on this dry season maize farming without seeing positive result is heartbreaking.
Let me add this: this is me using home gardening to kill boredom 😜
Pic 1. One plot that turned out well
Pic 2. Harvest from pic 1
Pic 3. Three plots that didn't get to the promised land

Laughing.
It is not really a business, just doing it to keep myself busy as my work didn't keep me busy enough. Transportation management is my business. Though I'm with Fed fire now but I still manage to get home gardening going this season as I love farming.
A. 160 ridges I made for tomatoes and peppers.
B. Maize and melon inter cropping on half plot with few okro.
C. Cassava on half plot with few okro, melon and maize
D. Another area for melon only with few maize
