[quote author=champagne00 post=135296446]Same issue as me, got decision since May 6th not gotten any response from VFS, went there yesterday but they said my passport has not been dispatched, called the embassy but not a positive response on when I can get my passport. I will go back today because I am to travel tomorrow.

I went there also, and they told me I will get response within 10 working days after the decision mail. I also need the passport too and it's urgent

Ur 15th working day is May 12th as there was a public holiday yesterday as well as Good friday on April 17th and Easter monday April 21st— home office timelines not counted on PH.

If a response comes before May the 12th count yourself lucky.

Can you please shed more light on how I can start the complaint process?
To complain to the Home Office, you should send an email to complaints@homeoffice.gov.uk. Make sure to include your personal details, GWF reference number, a detailed description of the problem you are complaining about (I suggest you write this in paragraphs with sufficient details and points to counter the refusal reasons), and attach your supporting documents.

Hope it goes well.

Good afternoon all. I am finding this trend very useful. A big thank you to all the contributors. I am supporting my husband for a visiting visa application and I provided my bank statements. We intend to travel together. I already have my visa. I got a call from the bank today saying they want to confirm if I provided the statements in support of his application as they have to confirm to the visa office. I thought it was a bit weird as I wasn’t aware this was a thing . That was all she asked and I answered in the affirmative. I just want to know if this is normal procedure as I haven’t heard about it before. Thank you.

It would be weird if you didn’t provide your documentation for his application and out of the blues, home office goes to your bank— you and him provided the information so they are checking what was provided to his application. Standard procedure.

Depends on the bank, as well as the customer's relationship with their account officer.

I haven't gotten any mail...How was your ..what was the response ....
Biometrics on 17th April, Ikeja.
Decision email yesterday 8th May.
Collected today 9th May.

It was successful.
2 yrs given

I got 6 months, which I used once last year after 2 previous refusals. After my last year UK visit, I've also made 2 separate Euro trips.

I applied with the usual documents, but didn't write cover letter this time around. Last year I wrote detailed cover letter addressing previous refusals. This time, I packaged my thoughts in the extra notes column at the last section of the form.

Documents
- hotel reservation
- employment letter
- promotion letter
- letter from employer indicating I've been approved to go on leave and also that employer is sponsoring the vacation.
- Employer account statement
- Employer CAC documents & tax clearance.
- 4 months personal account statement with 2m plus.
- 6 months personal USD account statement with $3,000 plus.
- family documents -marriage and children birth certificates.
- previous visas and stamps.
- pictures taken during previous travel and also that of family.
- monthly expense declaration of 1m.
- budget for trip 3,500 pounds.
-Personal amount committed towards trip 500 pounds.

Did not put cover letter, ticket reservation, pension account, personal tax clearance and landed property this time around eventhough I put all of them for my 1st UK visa last year.

I saw space to upload educational qualifications, which I'm not sure I noticed and uploaded in time past. Anyways, I uploaded my BSc & MSc cert there.

Thank you Nairaland folks for your free advice and tips from time to time. 🙏🏾 🙏🏾

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by D1O(m):
Successful standard (non-priority) visa application timeline, if it helps anyone.

Visa type: 10 years visit visa
Biometrics @ Abuja VFS: 29/04.
Awaiting consideration email: 30/04.
VFS 'decision received' email: 09/05 (making a total processing time of 6 working days as 05/05 was a UK bank holiday)
VFS courier passport return email: 09/05
Passport delivered by courier: 14/05

Purpose of trip is to visit children and grandchildren. Applicant is self funding the trip and simply included 2 months bank statements, 2 months payslips, leave approval letter from employer and invitation letter (with inviter's UK passport biopage). Applicant once only visited UK mid 2019 (on 6 months visa) and also visited Canada last year.

Good evening all, I wanted to ask if anyone here has ever sent a complaint letter to home office regarding their visa refusal and it got overturned. I also want to know how long the whole process took.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Knowlegeseeking: 10:40pm On May 09, 2025
Hi guys,

So i got a response from UKVI from the complaint i raised last week. They acknowledged that the Entry clearance manager has agreed that my application should be reconsidered. They also noted it does not mean the refusal will be overturned but a reconsideration is ongoing and even though they cannot give a timeframe for how long it would take, that i will be notified of their decision.

Even if they come back with the same decision, they should give a concrete reason that can be addressed in the next application. I'll keep you guys updated when a decision is reached.

Please can one apply for a visa renewal when the current visa has not expired? my twin's 6 months visa expires on the 21st of this month and he is looking at visiting by month end or latest first week of June. He wants to know if he can put in an application for renewal of the visa before it expires this month so he can get the updated visa and travel by month end.

Thank you.

Knowlegeseeking:
Same issue with my mum's application which just came in today. second refusal. The first was in November 2023 inviting her and my twin for my graduation. My twin was her sponsor and she was only refused because my twin was refused. My twin applied again last October and got his visa. Came last December 2024, spent 3 weeks and went back to Nigeria. Re-applied for my mum earlier this month and just got another rejection for her with 2 flimsy excuses.

1. You state that you are Unemployed have no other source of income. In consideration of your family ties I note the statements made by you in your visa application whereby you mention there are no remaining dependants in your home country. This, in conjunction with the concerns relating to your economic ties stated above, gives me reason to further doubt that you will depart the UK at the end of the period stated by you.

First, in her application, we never stated unemployed. My mum is a retired civil servant of Lagos which we stated attaching all her employment letters, promotion letters to level 17 and retirement letter. We also attached her landed properties including the one she resides in, bank statement showing pension income and rental income from her properties and additional income she receives from us her children, all explained in the cover letter. Nowhere in her application did we state she has no remaining dependants in her home country. Infact, on her cover letter, we stated that she has three other children including my twin who is resident in Nigeria, attaching their passport as well.

2. Second reason was "You have indicated that your sponsor will pay £1,500 towards the cost of your trip. In support of this you have provided a bank statement from Lloyds Bank (account number ending in 2463) However, the funds are regularly depleted indicating that your sponsor utilises nearly all their income each month. For example, as recently as 27th March 2025 the balance of their account was £0.50. I am therefore not satisfied that your sponsor can and will provide you with support for the intended duration of your stay. Your application is therefore refused under paragraph V4.3 (c) of the Immigration Rules"

This is another nonsense because the six months bank statement i submitted alongside with six months payslips shows steady savings into my moneybox simple saver and cash ISA accounts with balance of over 10k pounds (i attached these account statements as well). The EO just picked that date out of the 6 months which is ridiculous as that same statement shows a balance of almost 3k balance as at 31 March.

I have drafted a response to send to complaints@homeoffice.gov.uk highlighting these discrepancies.

Should i go this route or through PAP? it's okay to refuse an application but not on flimsy excuses that were evidently provided for.

Good day all, I have looked through the several pages on this thread but looking to ask again, I have got a third class and I am looking to do a masters in the UK for September 2025, what schools can be recommended and possible courses related with management that will give me a chance, likewise flexible fee plan. I will appreciate any help towards this. Thank you

Hello all. I am a skilled worker residing in the UK. I am in the process of applying for my mum's 2nd Uk visit ( 1st visit in 2022 for my graduation).
She wants come along with my 2 nieces to spend the summer holiday. While i have 'managed' to package my mum's application to the best of my abilities. I am somewhat confused on how to do outline the finances part for my 12/14yr old nieces.
I have attached the finance section. Kindly guide me on the best budget amount to put for minor. I read somewhere here that i should put £1/#1 in a section here.

N.B their dad who resides in the U.S will be providing bank statement as sponsor. While i will be the accommodating them and providing payslips.
