A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has attributed the recent defections of opposition leaders to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to threats of a witch-hunt by the ruling party.

Ologbondiyan stated that the governors and other opposition leaders defecting to the APC are merely seeking refuge to avoid being hounded by the ruling party.

“You must not forget that the former National Chairman of APC told Nigerians that just come over here, we will forgive all your sins, so people are looking for where sins are forgiven,” Ologbodiyan said on the programme.

The former PDP spokesperson, however, maintained that no matter how many opposition leaders the APC manages to attract, the party will still have to contend with millions of Nigerians in its bid to retain power in 2027.

“But you know one thing, at the end of it all, it is going to be about the Nigerians’ position. “You may pack all the 36 governors and put them in one boardroom and say they should declare for you. Have you packed the over 200 million Nigerians into the same boardroom? The answer is no,” he said.

If you were a politician and someone told you that merely joining the ruling party would make you free from prosecution after stealing more than 1 trillion, won't you heed the advice? grin

Jesus had to shed his blood to make forgiveness possible

But the evil APC uses Nigerians blood, their
sufferings, to forgive the sins of thieves.

they walk freely while Nigerians wallow in penury

To be a Nigerian politician, you must not have conscience, must not listen to public opinion, you must know how to siphon resources. You can add yours. Writing from Abuja this morning

Certainly.

'He' understands that having money is not enough in Nigerian politics. You must have leverage to manipulate people.

The tactics was to first financially cripple the main opposition by taking thier most financially viable states creating funding issues and making it easy to capture the hungry ones. Those who cannot survive financially outside political power.

Then he manipulated some opposition members with issues in two ways. First, to use them to create problems in thier parties so there would be instability and give room for others to decamp. Then secondly to silence those who would not decamp.

These tactics are not only used on the opposition though because even within his own camp, he ensures they are put in check by any means possible.

That said, the opposition also needs to get its act together.

Regardless, come 2027, it is going to be the masses vs apc.

Oshiomhole has already said it. Once you defect to APC all your sins are forgiven. So they are all going to APC to seek forgiveness of their sins.

Some of these opposition leaders are plain stupid to be honest. So you know them to be sinners and never complained about their sins when they were in your party? You accommodated them in your party and gave them position despite knowing they are sinners but you start crying and calling them names once they move to another party. Does that not make you hypocritically stupid? Are sinners meant for your party alone?

Which masses?

The decampings might end up favouring ordinary nigerians it just looks like all the greedy, wicked and extremely corrupt politicians in nigeria are all regrouping in one party thereby making themselves available and easy for the thunder that's about to strike in nigeria not to miss it's target.

My question is, who truly has the power to forgive the treasury looters among men? Is it the people who were victims of their heinous acts or someone who never experienced the effect of the looting but by privilege believes he can dictate who is pardoned and who is not?
