In the Duplex where I live, I have a Neighbour, a 70+ year old man who watches porn like his life depends on it.

He stays alone most of the time as his kids are all grown and on their own. His hearing is not so good so when he watches TV he raises the volume. 75% of what he watches daily is Porn and its very audible when am in my room.

How can I get him to stop or least reduce the volume

Increase the volume of your sound system and withdraw your attention from the sound coming from his apartment.

Use noise blockers, put up your music or use ear plugs, meet the man and explain your frustrationsto him so he can reduce the noise, if all fails, move out of the place.

I can assure you that you’re not the only one hearing that sound other neighbors who are also close to his apartment should also be hearing the same noise. One day, someone will trace the noise when it gets too much and unbearable. A real definition of 70 years old man I hope you don’t have little girls around and if you do, pls watch them closely

Call the police and report him for noise pollution. If he has money for porn, he should also have money for a hearing aid.

This reminds me of a friend back in uni who had a crazy roommate. Apart from the bad company and weed smoke in the room, this guy plays porn at the loudest volume possible and he dared not caution him because the guy belonged.

My friend then was a Deeper lifer. He would go on his knees severally to ask for Gods forgiveness. Also stay outside the room at his inconvenience when the sound becomes unbearable.

And that is partly the reason why the Nigerian police, rather than develop, remains the incompetent setup it is today. When I was a kid in that same country, the police were a more effective group, even in my own little town of Ikorodu back in the days. Anyone who lived in Ikorodu back in the 80s/early 90s could attest to this. People in the communities knew their police officers well.

A complicated situation, that's an old man.

It's difficult teaching an old new tricks.

His children will be in the best position to handling that.

Either by finding him a partner, or seizing the TV set.

The best you can do is to contact his children.

You can just write a short letter or note, something like dis.

Mention it to him that everyone can hear the porn he watches so if he could turn down the volume so people won’t know what he’s up to.

If he’s reasonable he should be grateful for the heads-up.
