To me, the significance lies not in how much money I spend, but in the joy and fulfilment we derive from it. I strive diligently to ensure that my family finds happiness and contentment in whatever I can provide each day, no matter the amount. It’s important to me that we cherish the experiences and moments together, creating memories that overshadow any financial concerns.
You missed the road, you went from answering the question to licking your wounds. The question was how much do you spend not what motivates your spending.

Your past heroes are not the main problem. Focus on the foolish people leading the country now. They are your problem.
Nothing heroine about the past leaders or people. If our forefathers are that good, we will never be in this situation we are today. They're in best position to lay down a good foundation for us like reknown scholars in Europe, America and Asia, but failed. The few ones left are wicked than the youths. It disgust me anytime elderly person open their mouths to talk about their days.

If you want to know why our society became so useless today, go and deal with the so called elders and see first hands corruption and wickedness in them. Infact, this generation are far more emphatic, tolerance, and have foresight than the so called elders.

There's difference between elders and hoes past. Also, y'all should stop blaming the past heroes. They can't change anything now. In fact, they did better than the im.beciles people are voting for now.

Awolowo built the Western Region with money from agriculture. Agriculture in Nigeria continues to decline after the heroes departed. Dr. Olikoye Ransome-Kuti brought the idea of primary health care center to Nigeria. It's a British health care model. How many people can get good health care in primary health centers now in Nigeria?

So many examples I could highlight.

But in Nigeria cry
10 dollar is not like 10 naira in USA. $10 in USA can get you close to half tank of petrol in your car depending on what type of car. How much petrol can 10 naira get you?

$10 can get you lunch in the USA. Can 10 naira get you lunch in Nigeria? When you have $10 in your wallet in USA, you hold it tight literarily. When last did you see 10 naira in your wallet?

I really can't track the amount anymore though I used to.
The happiness that comes with fulfilment of my responsibility is second to none.

We are truly in hard times. Sir, if you can squeeze out a budget of 1 million and buy all the dry ingredients in bulk. Thus, monthly, you would spend less than 50k on perishables.

You could buy Rice in bags, meats in bulk (half cow, full goat, etc)
Bulk shopping for 6 months saves cost.

Need I also say that a scale of preference needs to be drafted out and implemented. If I had a family, we would go minimal on cereals because those are actually poisonous to our bodies. That can be replaced with healthier alternatives.
You're very correct in the bulk buying. But a man with 4 kids and a wife might think twice before coughing out the money for bulk buying, that's even if he can put such punt together without been tempted to touch. I do bulk buying and i stay in Ibadan. With even less than a million I stock up the house even with drinks and other edibles. I just have learnt to stay off lounges and money syphoning places.

For a family of 4 I spend close to 200k monthly on just feeding, we can no longer buy food stuffs the house because even if u take like 150k to buy food stuffs, u won't see anything.

I want to know if others are spending more or less and if there's a way around it.

Thanks

Stopped years ago trying to do that math.
Ensure the family feeds well!
No wastage of any kind!

Note: I usually buy in bulks. Buy rice once in a year (but this year no pay shall) Others every quarter.
Just thank God for the ability to provide and bless Him always for putting food on our table!

If you have dependent in-laws they will finish it for you in one month.

Remove ur eyes from generator every evening...

Buy only bags of rice or half bags ( join Watsap group that buy directly from cheap places)

If ur wife is not working, go to the market urself to buy bulky essentials...most house wives inflat prices to get pocket money

Lower your love for top brands...

Adopt the use of electric cooker also with gas..but like 80% gas..

Tell ur wife to avoid over cook ND over feeding where children run to toilet immidiately after eating...

I dnt see why 150k won't last one month... except u want to live in a very high lifestyle...like buying fastfood breads for the family instead of equally good open market displayed bread ..etc
150k lasts only one week in my house. Family of 7. So it depends on the size of the family and not the amount of money.

I don't believe this, I and my siblings spend below 100k for food that last for a month, the only thing we contribute for is weekend is stew and soup.

All these men complaining about how their wives inflate commodity prices, should endeavor to give their wives money (no matter how you deem it small), as you can afford.

Those little change you give your wife might come to your rescue one day.

P.S. I don't support deceivers disguised as budget padders, or encourage wasteful spending.

Your advice is mostly sound. However if one has a housewife, wouldn't it be nicer to give her an allowance regularly if he has the capacity. At least it'll help her solve some personal stuffs without needing to ask him every single time.

600k plus, 500k plus, 400k plus, and the least is 300k plus.

As a man of 4 offsprings, living in Benin city isn't for the meek and weak.

You are right about the past leadership. Unfortunately, when the opportunity of foreign studies were available and abundant, they all went for courses like classics, law, philosophy and the rest at the time the whole world was looking in the direction of industrial revolution.

I spend 200k monthly on food, gas and bills... For a year now, I totally banned buying fuel for gen use. Sold my car for peace of mind 3 years ago. And we no die. Next is to cut off occasional beer. We're a family of 4, going to 5 soon. I'd rather save up for a solar/ inverter system than to buy a single liter of fuel for gen again.
