I’m not a fan of Nigel or Reform (for obvious reasons), but boy oh boy — his delivery of today’s speech was excellent. Head and shoulders above Kemi Badenoch, Keir Starmer, Trump & co. That’s what political leaders should sound like.

If he wasn't white British no one will mention mental health, the police will definitely call it a terrorist attack.

Even before the police disclosed the identity of the suspect they have start spreading misinformation about his identity

I just thank God that’s it’s not otherwise we would have shut ourselves indoors for another week or two!

And then when we speak they will say we should not speak with emotions.

Lol. People will be literally out in the streets looking to kill people who look like me and someone will be tone-policing on Nairaland while making snide comments.

We would be reminded about communities that have been deprived to justify the wanton destruction. But now no community is being deprived and everyone is quiet 🤐

Leadership is not by "cho cho cho" though 😂 (according to some on here)

We want quiet, competent leaders like KS who stick to their principles no matter the political or public pressure 👀

I'm guessing anyone who's ever spoken out against the US or Israel faces an automatic rejection/ ban

Potentially great news for the UK however. I see Oxbridge, Imperial, LSE etc rubbing their hands with glee cos students who could qualify for and afford the likes of Harvard might start to look at other prestigious options.

As I said couple days ago, it's all Swings and Roundabouts lol

I honestly believe that Trump is working so hard to be noticed as a dictator. This is all part of his fight with Harvard university. By the time he is done with US that country will more like Russia.

Yet another reason not to post controversial content from accounts that show your full identity. I’m mortified seeing people do this on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and elsewhere.

Whenever I apply for US visa, I always tick no social media accounts.

Be careful what you wish for. wink Politics as entertainment usually ends badly; politics as quiet delivery more useful to mankind.
In any event, what Mr. Farage said is more interesting that how he said it. Effectively Labour have allowed him to capture the narrative, so after trying to move right on immigration to please his voters, they'll now be forced to consider moving left again in line with what Reform has just announced as policy in order to please their own voters who Reform is trying to steal. This is sure to make Diane Abbott and Jeremy Corbyn feel very fulfilled.

With constant parroting of “there was no rioting in my town” so we know they don’t live among “those people”. As if the point was where the riots took place this time as opposed to whether the inflammatory rhetoric from certain figures is likely to make them occur again to a greater degree, or with greater frequency.

Plus, what if you’re not in your own town next time?

No thinking about any of that, for some.

Not sure I will call it politics for entertainment (no one does it better than The Donald; I’ve cancelled my Netflix just to watch all the tomfoolery in the Whitehouse). What I’m really talking about is the art of crafting a strong argument— logical thinking, persuasive delivery & even a bit of charisma. Remember Ronald Reagan? Bill Clinton? Barack Obama? Tony Blair? Those are some of the most memorable politicians in the last four decades and they all had their ‘achievements’ to reel out as evidence of their presidency/premiership.

Now compare that with Keir Starmer—every PMQs response seems to circle back to a “£22 billion black hole” or accusations like “Farage is a Putin admirer.” Illogical and zero cut through, hence the shellacking at the local elections.

Then there’s Kemi Badenoch, who’s a straight talker unless it’s about Trump/MAGA, Israel or her alternative proposal (Renewal Programme). Not to mention her extremely hardline stance on immigration, despite the irony that her own mother took advantage of from the very system she now criticises. The hypocrisy isn’t lost on anyone. Anyway she’s a goner, total lame duck.

Back to the topic, it’s not just political leaders who are judged by their rhetorical abilities. Just like we assess people in everyday life—in interviews, conversations, at parties—the public is doing the same with these leaders. At the end of the day, come election time, people have to vote between the options available… unless Cyberknight decides to run, in which case you tick all the boxes and have my full backing (in Naija style, unalloyed support, Your Excellency).

Thanks for this, it's a very salient point.

Especially as Starmer has actually joined in the immigrant bashing, complaining about an "island of strangers", it's highly likely that there will be a national race riot very soon, in every borough and city, with even middle class white folk chasing out all their black neighbours.

Oh dear, sounds like it's time to activate a migration plan asap to the US where racism has thankfully ceased to exist in the 5 years since George Floyd/Black Lives Matter.

To be honest I have no idea what point you’re attempting to make with this collection of ridiculous false equivalences but it’s a bright sunny day and I’m not going to waste it, so whatever makes you happy eh.

I'm not attempting to make any point sir, I'm simply agreeing with the rational comment you made earlier, - ergo inflammatory rhetoric from the likes of Starmer& co is likely to spark a national race riot(s) very soon , so as a black person it sounds like a good idea to start exploring non-racist lands.

👍🏿

Edit: Actually I’ll make the point that you have to either be in a completely different world (la la land, I’d guess) to think that Starmer’s statement matches the deluge of attacks on immigrants by Kemi, Suella and co under the preceding government, or you’re being deliberately disingenuous.

Or…maybe you’re just too far removed from the issues to actually understand them, which might be why you thought it appropriate to be making all those jokes while the riots were ongoing and people were expressing fear for their lives.

Anyway, it’s not worth me wasting time on so I’ll just say you should go out and touch grass this beautiful afternoon.
