I think you are muddling up two entirely different arguments here...

Is it that man utd don't spend enough or man utd dont spend wisely - which is which?
Which argument are you on about?

"Man utd not spending enough" is the crux of the matter here...

Spending wisely and efficiently is another argument entirely with so many things to look at.

Let's even disagree to agree about netspend (the assumption is that FFP and Business Continuity dont matter), below is the gross spend on players by PL clubs in the last 3 years...

Mbuemo's purchase would take spendings to about 140m within the last 6 months thereabout...
Mbuemo and Cunha would take it to 800million plus spent in 3 and half seasons with more to be added as the window progresses. Those clowns just come here to chat shit.

Trevor012:
700million in 3 seasons na paracetamol lmao. Klopp spent ten years at Liverpool and his total spending was 900million . Una nor really dey think sha. Na United board wey dey pamper managers with too much money I blame.

Lol. Didn’t expect any less from you.

Net spend depends on sales plus purchases. Since United hardly sell their players for anything tangible and often overpay for their targets, their net spend will definitely be on the high side. It doesn’t mean they’ve been wiser in the transfer market.

When we won the treble in 99, we had 4 really good strikers even though only 2 can play - Yorke, Cole, Ole and one other guy.

When we won the double in 2008, we had that fearless attack with enough cover for most positions.

Today, we’ve got an inexperienced attack, with youth players being thrusted to deliver every week. But since our net spend is on par with City ‘in the last five years’, let’s fold hands and wait for the stressed monkey to defecate akara and honey.
You have not said anything tangible in this post.

Leyqute:
Wetin concern purchases with net spend?

Do you know how many players Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa brought in in the last 2 seasons? I’m not talking about 80m splashes on unproven buys from Ajax o.

City realized how poor they were last season and they’ve quickly replaced worn out legs . Keep expecting your manager to perform magic with the exquisite shiiiiite Richard Arnold purchased 3-5 years ago.
City haven't even bought anyone. Why is it only City that are bankrolled by a country you are always comparing United too when it comes to spending and even at that we are keeping up with them. Tell us about Arsenal and Liverpool spending 🤡🤡

But in terms of netspend, we have been ahead of them in the last 5 years thereabout..

The other 13 teams that finished above us, how much have they been spending?
Leyqute and his alternate larride will never cease to dazy us with gibberish.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 7:45am On Jun 03, 2025
If we sign Mbeumo and Gyokeres then we have added real firepower in our attack...Cunha + Gyokeres + Mbeumo is 60 - 70 goals...That's our attack going from 0 to 100...

Sell Garnacho to fund the purchase of Mbeumo, sell or loan Hojlund for 2 seasons, sell Casemiro to a Saudi club for 25m, release Eriksen, sell Maguire, release Shaw, sell Onana, if we get a good offer for Bruno, sell him, you can use his fee to fund the purchase of Gyokeres and still have some balance.

Mbeumo plus Cunha is a step in the right direction. They’re not at the twilight of their career and still have something to offer. We just need a few additions in other positions, especially in the striking department. With or without Amorim, that would be a good squad.

Like I’ve said multiple times before, our recruitment is improving. We just need to build on it with more quality players and sensible transfers.

INEOS still on serious watch though.

The bigger issues here is that Amorim would most likely shoehorn him into his style/formation - his captain must always start.

Bruno's best position is that free role infront of 2 CMs behind the #9 in a 4-2-3-1 formation but since that 3-4-2-1 has come to stay, it would be interesting to see how the manager addresses this problem that has been lingering since he joined the club

I told you guys INEOS are not playing around. If Delap had chosen us we would had a front three by now.

Bruno can play as one of the two deep midfielders as long as he has an energetic partner so no worries. After getting a Striker, I feel we would add another midfielder to the team then with extra funds a goalkeeper.

Unless we sell Hojuju, I don’t really think Delap would be a good addition. For me, there isn’t much difference between the two of them.

Even if we have one or both of them we’ll still need a good striker who is not inexperienced and can score goals without needing his teammates to work for him.

We’re building a squad, not a starting XI. By the time season starts and injuries start cropping up, we’ll understand how important this is.

Let’s not drag this argument unnecessarily.

My main point is that if we’re going to catch up with City, Liverpool and the likes, we have to match and probably do better than them in terms of spending and spending wisely.

Do you disagree with that?

yeah our recruitment has really improved since ineos took over.

I want us to really enforce more on midfield especially the defensive midfield. That is where we are seriously lacking. We conceded lots of goals this past season so it shouldn't happen again

Football formations are not always rigid, yuno.

In the PSG-Inter UCL final, for one of the goals Vitinho started from RB, went into CB, carried the ball through the midfield and received a back heel from Dembele in the AM position to set up Doue for a perfect finish.

If Bruno plays as one of the AMs, he can be a third midfielder for better defensive solidity. He can also be the focal point of attack when we’re on the offensive.

If he’s part of the midfield 2, he can start attacks and be the much needed balance in midfield.

I personally think we’d get more out of Bruno if we limit his roaming activity tho. I also don’t like how he almost always telling players how and who to pass the ball to, especially when they don’t look confused or flustered.

Delap would have been a fantastic addition. Apart from age he's not similar to Holjund in any way and besides Holjund scored 10 league goals and another 5 in the champions league in his first season. With a competent competition like delap he might pick up form again but that's by the way. Our back up to Delap is Mateta, Osimhen and Gyokeres have been ruled out. What do you think about Mateta?

Last season we were 10th in terms of goals conceded. Not good but not that bad either. In terms of goal scored, we placed 16th with 44 goals.

Our problem is goals. We don’t score enough of them. We need more attackers and more players who can finish chances and outperform their xG

Maino needs to step up in that role. I see no reason why Ugarte( Despite his limitations he's a still brilliant ball winner with high energy) and Maino/Bruno can't work. With Mbuemo and Cunha coming in , Maino only position to get game time is in that role.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by spillo1: 9:28am On Jun 03, 2025
Two players we all ignoring is Zirkzee and Maino. I feel both players would perform better this coming season. Zirkzee was picking up form before his unfortunate injury and he would link up well with both Cunha and Mbuemo.

Mateta is not bad. He’s the kind of CF you want when you have fast wingers or AMs beside him. He can hold up the ball and can finish chances. He can definitely play a role and might be a really good addition.

He offers a completely different profile to the likes of Gyokeres, Delap and Hojlund as he lacks pace. But he’s a good player.

we concede cheap goals last season. What am saying is that there are some goals we conceded last that shouldn't have been conceded. Cheap goals that could have been avoided. Am not too certain on ugarte. Erickson is going. So whom fo we have, mainoo, bruno. We should get good defensive and attacking midfielder since the front is a little bit ok now with cunha and mbuemo

am not writing mainoo off, but that guy has really disappointed me. Ugarte for me is good defensive but offensively he is found wanting.

Let get another defensive midfielder or promote some of the academy. Maybe kone

We are linked with Atalanta Ederson and Wharton but nothing concrete yet. I think it depends on Casemiro staying or leaving.

Maino/ Bruno then Ugarte/ New player if Casemiro leaves. I expect Collyer to take Eriksen minutes this season if he stays. They were also reports Amorim plans on using Cunha deeper.

Spot on. Also next season hopefully we get a constant first Eleven, no changes unless needed. The only benefit of no European football. We can rotate for Cup games
