[quote author=Milito post=135607580]They believe you have more incentive to stay over there with your lover than return here. As you can earn far more over there on a monthly basis doing petty jobs than what you are earning here with reference to your stated incomes. And being with your lover is an added benefit. For Oyinbo mind, as an adult, love love things has a stronger hold and pull on you than family. Ohh thank you But please any idea what can serve as a stronger tie (to convince them I’ll return home) |

When you apply for a UK visa, you are paying money for them to consider you and your circumstances. If they deny your application citing circumstances that clearly do not apply to you, then it is an error on their part, period. It is not your responsibility to start guessing what the actual reason for the denial was; you only have what is written in their letter. If they quoted Cedis when you earn in Naira, that’s their error. If they said you are unemployed when you are, in fact, employed with proof, that’s their error. If they said your company has no online presence when it clearly does, that is their error. Always complain and/or file a PAP. Stop taking these ECOs as infallible gods over your life. They are human, and a lot of them are, quite frankly, dumb as bricks. I’ve seen too many applications overturned at the complaint/PAP stage when the application is reviewed by a more senior (and sensible) person. Don’t ever be discouraged to complain if you see that your application was clearly not properly considered. The worst that’ll happen is they’ll still say no. But they’ll give a more sensible reason, which can help you in future applications. |

crackcrack:I second you with my full chest and gbam. The current refusal rates are overwhelming and filled with errors. I wonder who hired this new group of officers making these mistakes. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Debbieeeeeee: 9:47am On Jun 03, 2025 |
Milito:Someone I know had both they still used address on statement is different from where he currently resides. I laughed because the officer just didn’t want to give. I haven’t updated the address on my account since uni and I use it to renew all the time, proof of address is a big thing in the western world but not in our side. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Debbieeeeeee: 9:50am On Jun 03, 2025 |
I think this whole white paper immigration proposal is what’s making these officers misbehave. |

humbleboyy:Maybe you should go to VSF and check oh. I recall 2 years back, this happened to some of my guys that we applied roughly same time. We all did priority and only 2 of us got feedback within time frame. The remaining guys' application stayed up to 6 weeks to our bewilderment. After several paid calls and emails and waiting, it was discovered the applications have been treated way back. The system just didn't alert us that the passports have been returned. And interestingly, they were all issued with visas. The visa stamp date also confirmed it has been treated way back. This was with TLS though. |

Debbieeeeeee:. Sincerely all of us were shocked when we saw that address thing. The address on my personal statements I’ve used for successful applications are different from current home address stated in my application and it scaled through. Even the company account statements I dropped had different addresses all different from official company address on company CAC documents. These guys always have their agendas and then come up with an excuse as justification. Or sometimes, some strong areas of an application counteracts some red flags. Recently, I assisted someone in looking over his 1st-time application to the UK and he had 3 lump sums, which gave me serious headache and concern. We couldn't get receipts of what he used those monies for, but luckily he transferred some of the money out in like 2 days after and we strongly emphasisd this. We also just did an explanation and also put the bank transaction receipt from the originator and it scaled through. He has been to an European country for a short visit the previous year though. I believe this travel history worked in his favour. You see, that's why I said 'sometimes', the actual reasons for refusal is not disclosed. They just fish around for booby traps to put on the letter as they are mandated to do so. Some of these booby traps if it shows clear cut error can be used to successfully challenge the refusal. While others that are a bit ambiguous are more difficult. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Debbieeeeeee: 11:07am On Jun 03, 2025 |
@milito I agree, they’re only looking for traps. Vague refusal reasons make no sense. |

I would advice you to file a complaint and attach this picture and state where you think they got it wrong in detail. Busy2018: |

milekhuoba7:Use your bank card and show the money. If they decide to follow us and deception — then you will not have an escape route as you can be asked for the cash and/or credit card to show your proof of funds. In real life scenarios, these tricks do not work because if you are not actually trying to trick them then surely you can walk into your bank and get an updated statement with a recent date? No? Pls travel. |

| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 12:56pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
Maryjane62:Remove the tourism budget or half it. Hope the employment you are claiming is verifiable? How long is the trip for? 7 to 10 days is fine and max £1500 budget. Also the fixed deposit- hope it is also verifiable especially it’s origin. Also length of employment must tally with these figures. You can’t stay you started working 4 to 5 months ago and claim these figures without paper proof. Good luck |

Why not book a hostel if you are traveling alone as to cut the cost also reduce the feeding cost. You should be touring free tourist attractions. Do all you can to cut your travel budget. Don't forget to draft your day to day itinerary. Maryjane62: |

Hello everyone, I want to apply for UK visit visa for one week this month. this is my profile and I need your opinion. I work as an analyst and earn 60k. (Very low,I know) I have my business registered and active with a CAC for sale of fashion products and have a business account. I have a landed property with documents. I have been to Dubai, Tanzania, Ghana and South Africa. These trips were alone but sponsored by my Mum. I have obtained leave letter, six months pay slips and introduction letter from my employer. The issue is the financing My mum wants to sponsor the trip, but she has to put the money in my account. It will be a lump sum and we are looking at putting it in my personal account between 7-8m. My mum has the money. I have a salary account, a business account and my personal account. The personal has majority of my transactions. Do I submit my bank statement alone with the funds and my mum's profile, or should I just submit her profile with her OWN statement. I am.thinking the funds should be in my account. But I am concerned of the lump sum thing But I have read here that if you trip exceeds three times your salary, the ECO will refuse such. My trip will exceed my salary by a large gap but I can explain the source of the funds. What can I do?. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 2:20pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
@ayobami227 1. What is the purpose of the trip 2. What is your age? You can state a range. 3. What is the importance of this trip particularly as you can not afford it? You have a very risky profile. Travel history is non existent. Dubai, south Africa etc is practically not valuable here. 60k income… nah! If you get in you would seek asylum as you can decide to work cash in hand jobs which would pay you more whilst waiting for your asylum to materialise. If you decide to use the business angle… le worst. No husband, no dependent children to drag your conscience to return quickly .. risk I genuinely don’t see how you can get away with the issues in your profile. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 2:23pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
Maryjane62:Okay Pls you need to jot down a day to day itinerary You also need to attach proofs of your husband will be in the country during the trip. Present all your employment documents and details as this would serve as a great tie for you. Anyone earning over 1m from/in Nigeria stands a better chance. Again fill your application form carefully. Provide proof of everything you claim down to your savings. |

giselle237:My age range is 28-35. The purpose of this trip is for tourism only and to strengthen my travel history. Although I earn 60k from my salary, I make above 800k monthly from my business. I sell fashion items, and also do bridal make up and event planning almost every weekend. I also receive annual rent payments of 1m naira into my personal account from my 2bedroom housing. These are my other sources of income. Beyond the low salary threshold My immediate family are all based here in Nigeria. My travel history doesn't count because of the countries? I went there on vacation and also have my travel stamps on my passport, I thought it counted for something. Please enlighten me, that's why I posted my profile here |

@ayobami227 It won’t work unfortunately . This is 2025. Looks like your mom has or could have a good profile but all the torchlighting 🔦 would be on you the applicant in a UK tourist application. As for the travel history- UAE, Tanzania, Ghana? It does not count. |

Ayobami227:Your low salary will be an issue. Why not use your business instead? Is it registered and do you have a seperate bank account for the business? Your previous travel history won't add much value as far as UK visa officers are concerned. As an adult, you are expected to have your own money. So, the focus will be on you and your finances and not your sponsor. |

Thank you for your response and offering a recommendation. Yes, I have a business account, and it's registered with CAC, and I have tax clearance certificate from FIRS for the business, I don't know if it counts. I receive large payments into it as well. Yes, my salary is low, but my major expenses are from my other sources of income: the rental property, my fashion and beauty business. Okay, do you advise I use my business account for the bank statement? Or submit more than one statement. Cause my company opened a salary account for us, but I don't use that account as much. Just my personal account and business account have large transactions. I receive the rent payments into my personal account. And business payments into the business account I'd appreciate your opinion on this. Cashmadam: |

I’m planning book a flight from Lagos to Germany for my studies. Can I pay in Naira? Should I use Google Flights or Skyscanner, or is it better to book directly with the airline? I’m currently considering Turkish Airlines. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 11:53pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
PHEEEMMMY:KLM or Air France might be cheaper... |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 11:56pm On Jun 03, 2025 |
Ayobami227:You are welcome. Use your personal account. Add your business account just to prove you truly run a business that generates income for you. Ultimately, it is your personal account they will focus on. |

Cashmadam:Thanks! The travel date is July 1st or 2nd. Turkish seems cheaper and faster, though it only allows one 23kg bag. By the way, can one pay in Naira for international flights? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Debbieeeeeee: 7:44am On Jun 04, 2025 |
PHEEEMMMY:Just a side advise buy a ticket with two bags since you’re going for studies, one suitcase may not be sufficient to pack what you need. |
