Arguing with someone who chooses to be deliberately obtuse. Which team in the world go let their most priced asset leave for free when the have an option to extend their contract, LoL. |

CapitalCee:Fans of this club will criticise the players every match day but once you talk about selling the player, he becomes irreplaceable... I saw a couple of guys try to downplay Cherki when someone suggested we sign him...I think it was you or Spillo that mentioned Cherki... |

akwesenana:The discussion circled around his current contract situation which expires next summer, and not Brendford's future plans to extend Mbappe - best player in the world at that time, also had the "option to extend" at Psg. He later joined Madrid without them paying a dime in transfer fees. A lot could happen within a short period of time - Personal decisions, financial struggles of the club etc but that's even another conversation entirely. *sneezes*

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by spillo1: 3:09am On Jun 06, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:Why are your examples always so far off. The option was for Mbappe alone to decide to extend for a year not Psg, there was nothing the club could do. In this case Brentford are the one with the option not Mbuemo. I really don't get how something so simple is complicated for you to understand.

spillo1:That's exactly the point - the way Mbappe wasn't obligated to extend is also the same way Brendford have no obligation whatsoever to trigger the extension. None of the parties are obliged to trigger the extension by fire by force so it cant be included as part of the contractual years signed. That is why it is clearly stated that Mbuemo's contract expires next summer. Your attempts at maneovering with semantics are just as futile as pissing in the wind, even in the face of stone walled evidence!

patrickmuf:I have mentioned Cherki here more than twice, but every time you talk am, they will tell you he has attitude, which attitude kwanu nobody knows. If he has bad attitude, well structured Liverpool and City will be chasing him, Dortmund nearly bought him in January. They said he was not good against us, I brought out stats that showed otherwise, they twisted and started bringing inuendos. Every time he had the ball over the 2 legs, there was panic, infact it was when he was substituted after they went 4-2 and the coach thought they had won, then we made a comback because he retreated. Look at that his stoppage time equaliser after onana spilled the ball, very intelligent finish. When Teilemans was free after Leicester, our fans said he was rubbish and finished, now look at him at Villa, infact that guy is what we actually needed for our advanced pivot, a younger Eriksen. I think our board go on social media and gather our fans opinions and act on it, to remain popular, which eventually backfires. If you noticed, I once told someone here that because he felt that Mbeumo is not good enough, they club should do anything to buy him, because our fan’s opinion is usually off points 90% of the time. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by akwesenana: 7:43am On Jun 06, 2025 |
If you think Brentford wouldn't use the option to extend the contract as a bargaining chip, I've got nothing left to say to you. |

CapitalCee:Bro do you realise United will not play European football next season? What type of player can we realistically attract without paying crazy transfer fee plus crazy salary? United finished 15th this season, it will take pure love or financial inducement to convince our major targets to join. Make you try dey calm down |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by TrebleChamp(m): 9:02am On Jun 06, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:Bro this your argument no follow, Brentford hold the ace and will definitely trigger the extension so they don't lose him for free next season. Clubs will only opto out of triggering the extension for players they are eager to get rid off (e.g Scancho) |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jamiuokolaa: 9:13am On Jun 06, 2025*. Modified: 9:53am On Jun 06, 2025 |
TrebleChamp:For the club to have made it an "option" clearly shows the uncertainty around the extension. They are obviously looking to reassess the player's form, club's financial status etc - a direct contradiction to the definitive statement you are trying to credit them with. For the avoidance of doubt, What Brentford intend to do or not do in future is not relevant here - the current situation of the contract was the genesis of the conversation as highlighted below; Mrviktor:I am not interested in the reasons why players or clubs would decide to extend or not because that was not in the convo till it managed to sneak in. Like i said earlier, the actual expiration of the current contract is what is being discussed here.

Jamiuokolaa:How do you discuss that without looking at the option the club has to renew for a season? That's technically two years... To base all your argument on the position that he has one year left, even when you can clearly see the club has an option to renew for a year, is you being disingenuous with the truth... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jamiuokolaa: 10:14am On Jun 06, 2025*. Modified: 10:31am On Jun 06, 2025 |
patrickmuf:His current contract expires next summer and that was the premise of the initial discussion below... MrVictor:If you want to discuss the probability of futuristic/optional contract extensions, that is a different topic entirely. It is you who has decided to be disingenuous with the truth concerning the expiry date of Mbuemo's current contract which is crystal clear!

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 10:39am On Jun 06, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:The club hold the aces, we are negotiating with the club. If Mrviktor was wrong in his consideration, does it mean we all must follow the same path even when it is clearly stated there that the club has an option to extend his deal for a year? Mbeumo has one year left on his contract, and the club has the exclusive right to extend it for another year. This effectively means they have him for the next two seasons. Also, the club is aware that he is a forward who can ensure a strong goal return, which significantly increases their chances of remaining a Premier League team over the next two seasons. This stability translates into greater earnings, so any potential suitor will be informed that the club can exercise its option to renew the contract for another year as a strong bargaining tool. |

patrickmuf:And it is also clearly stated that his current contract expires next year - Mrvict.or was quite clear about that, same with the evidence at our disposal.... patrickmuf:Like I said earlier, the bolded was the basis of the original convo and it has been found to be factually correct Reasons and probabilities for extension are moot here... Can Mbuemo leave for Free as we speak? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Can he leave for free by this time next year? ABSOLUTELY YES, IF BRENTFORD DECIDE NOT TO ACTIVATE THE OPTION OF EXTENSION AND/OR THE PLAYER ISNT HAPPY WITH THE NEW TERMS! Like I said, I am not interested in the probability of the futuristic extension, as it is irrelevant here.

Jamiuokolaa:Brentford will let their best player leave for free when they have the option to extend even without his permission...A good joke... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jamiuokolaa: 11:36am On Jun 06, 2025 |
patrickmuf:The "option" is obviously to reassess the situation and check wether a new contract would be in the club's best interest. The definitive contract he signed expires by this time next year.
|
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 11:40am On Jun 06, 2025 |
Jamiuokolaa:The club might also decide to keep for another season instead of losing him a season earlier...His goals will most likely see them stay up and earn big from the league's TV rights revenue... The point in all these is that the club will most likely use the option to extend his deal as a bargaining chip, which is why they're likely holding out for a bit more money. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Jamiuokolaa: 11:43am On Jun 06, 2025*. Modified: 12:07pm On Jun 06, 2025 |
patrickmuf:AGAIN, the convo was never about the likelihood of futuristic events and options - it was about the current contractual situation which has been proven to cease to exist by this time next year...
