Hi all. Gurus in the house please I need to confirm this. I received an email from VFS this Monday that a decision has been made. I tracked my application on their website and saw this. Do I need to wait for another email or can I go to their office to pick up my passport? Thank you for your response.

aragbaboy:Correct, well done! One of the things this thread recently established which makes so much sense is correcting the notion that 6 months bank statement is compulsory for UK visa application. Assuming this info came to me earlier, I woukdnt have suffered a refusal I had in the past as the area of my account which was flagged for inflows was the 1st month out of 6. This year, I had increase in salary 4 months back and I didn't want different salaries to show in my salary account statement to avoid raising questions, I decided to put 4 months statement with same salary and it scaled through for my 2 years application. Even the company account put alongside, was too bulky and had to limit it to just 3 months. |

Good evening to you all! Please, my brother wants to apply for admission in the UK - an MRes program. He is currently writing his personal statement. Is it compulsory to state where he got the money that he intends using for the traveling purpose? Is it a must to demonstrate his home ties to his country in the personal statement? |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by wttsven: 7:57am On Jun 08, 2025 |
Doesn't matter , Your monthly income doesn't affect that because it is what you declare to FIRS that determine your VAT. whatever you pay is good. have been doing 14k for over a year now! The main point is you are paying your tax and you have receipt for it. onile1975: |

Please between UK and Germany which country is better to japa to. Canada is my first choice but they denied me visit visa recently after I waited for so long, and recent news is saying that right now Canada is denying a lot of visa applications from Nigeria. I don’t know whether I should try applying for study in Canada, whether they will deny me again. Or I should just leave Canada and try another country. I have UK and Germany in mind as plan B. Also please suggest other good countries for me. Please someone should advice me on what to do. |

giselle237:Hi, I'm just reading through various bits of this thread to update my knowledge and be able to advise a relative. I didn't know the Home Office contacts banks now... Do they contact in all cases and do you know what details they verify? I'm guessung it will be best to not carry out any transactions that will significantly change the account balance during the visa application period... |

Dear all, I'm trying to help my aunt prep for application, Your answers and any input will be really appreciated please. My aunt works for our family business since 2022. Her salary is currently 320k per month . Now she wants to visit to the UK later in the year with some other family members who have visas already. Her brothers are happy to pay her flight ticket, no issues there. She is mid 40s, isn't married and has no child, so no real family ties. She will stay in my house so I'm going to be taking care of accommodation and feeding. She has been denied twice dec 2020 and Jan 2021 due to the fact she we said she was unemployed in the 1st app (family was sponsoring 100%), and we tried to change to self employed in the 2nd app. (she was in fact self employed informally, as in not cac registered and her income was irregular hence our reason) I'm wondering what to advise on her application now, .... I'm thinking it may be better to have her sponsor herself or at least sponsor her flight at the minimum. Obviously, as it's a family business, we can decide to increase her salary so that she can have a healthy balance for her application.. My questions are: 1. [s]For how long should her bank statement be[/s]? Edit I have seen that 2 to 3 months is fine 2. What should be a reasonable salary and bank balance for self sponsorship? 3. We want to put a 3wk visit, hope that is fine? 4. How much is OK to indicate she will spend on flight ticket? I don't think it should be too high compared to her salary but not so low that it will be impossible. 5. How early before her trip can she apply? 6. Her only strong tie so far is her job, any advice on how to make a strong case for return Nija for her? Thanks for your input |

Trust2021:Your husband's admission letter in Nigeria is not relevant to boosting you home ties to Nigeria . A letter is just a letter it doesn't even prove your husband is in Nigeria There are many married people who live in different countries |

Good morning here please I will like to ask a question does 4 million is okay and enough to show on closing balance as at the time applying for UK visiting visa also all this documents is it okay to present for application 1 year statement of accounts my salary was increase twice during this 1 year, fixed deposit with some amount of 1 million, treasure bill 350k, marriage certificate, CAC certificate to show that I also have a personal business I'm running aside of my salary work, my boss I work for is sending an invite he hold a British passport 1 year payslip and then leave letter. But I use my savings salary account for my personal business transaction as well I will like to hear from gurus if all this are good to go or if I will need additional documents thanks. |
| Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by jmoore(m): 7:33am On Jun 09, 2025 |
Trust2021:My sister used 4 million plus in her account last year. I don't see the need to present 1 year statement of account. You can explain in your cover letter that you have had your salary increased many times. Using your savings/salary account for your personal business is never recommended. The UKVI wants to see that the funds you're using to support your visa application are genuinely yours and not tied to your business. |

TonyC247:UK is currently doing the same - denying people left, right and centre for flimsy reasons. Getting a COS these days isn't even the ultimate anymore. The current Labour Govt is trying to pander or impress the rising wave of far rights especially Reform UK with impressive stats on immigration. You know, immigrants to them are the reasons why they can't go on vacations the way they like. They are the cause of inflation too. If you intend coming to UK, make sure your plug know what they are doing before you waste your money. |

Hello UK gurus in the house, please I'm at the verge of submitting my visa application. For the POF, my agent said I shouldn't bother that they'll get a government sponsorship letter for me. I'm really curious about the authenticity of this letter. Kindly advice me. Thank you. |

ebele123:I guess you meant the UK home office interview? Yes! It happens online but at the UK visa centre and not your home. However, you'll be given ample time to prepare. Make sure you are conversant of the organisation you have applied for especially their postal code. Secondly, accommodation is another strong point. Is your sponsor providing any and whats the postcode? Do you have any family member over here? Charity visa which is a tier 5 one is not expected to earn wages or salaries but stipends to cover groceries. This is where family ties comes in. I have noticed, if you have a travel history to any of the developed world. Interview will be waved. |
