GudluckIBB:
The decision
I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the
requirements of paragraph(s) 4.2 of Appendix V because of the reasons detailed:

• You have applied to visit the UK for 5 days for tourism, and sightseeing.
• You intend to travel with your husband on a visit to the UK.  Your husband was
issued entry clearance as a visitor on 07/02/2025 However, your husband indicated
on his application form that you would not be accompanying him to the UK.  Whilst I
accept that circumstances may change, I must consider that the Entry Clearance
Officer had issued your husband’s visa considering his immediate family members
would be remaining in your country of residence. Your family’s travel plans have now
changed just a short time after your husband’s UK visa was issued, and no
explanation for this change of plans has been made in your application.
• The onus is on you, the applicant, to show that you meet the requirements of the
immigration rules based on your overall personal circumstances and that you will
comply with all the conditions associated with any visa.
• To come to my decision, I have considered, not only those documents stated above,
but all the documents you have provided regarding your circumstances. Your
application is therefore refused under paragraph V 4.2 (a) and (c) of the Immigration
Rules

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am writing to seek your advice following a recent refusal of UK visitor visa applications for my family of three.

For context, I previously studied in the UK and returned to Nigeria immediately after completing my studies. Earlier this year, I was granted a visitor visa to attend my graduation ceremony in February. I travelled alone and returned to Nigeria just three days after the event. At the time of that application, I clearly indicated that my family would not be accompanying me, as they had ongoing academic and business obligations.

Recently, my family applied for visitor visas with the intention of travelling to the UK for a short vacation, during which I would accompany them using my still-valid visa. However, their applications were refused, and the primary reason cited was that my previous application stated they would not be travelling, implying that our current travel plans raised concerns.

It appears the decision may have been based on a misinterpretation of our changed circumstances, using details from my previous application without context.

I would appreciate your guidance on how best to proceed. Should my family reapply immediately with a detailed explanation of why they didn’t travel with me previously, or would it be wiser to wait some time before reapplying?

Thank you very much for your time and attention. I look forward to your advice

Thank you
Well, your husband would have written a cover letter and this will not happen.

However, if not for wickedness, why should your husband write?

Husband has a visa and in getting says my wife is not travelling with me.

Few months later, wife got a win in her life and decided to go enjoy her win in UK, she's refused because husband said several months ago, he's not traveling with wife. What rubbish is this?

It's their country and I'll suggest you reapply and tell them that you chose to specifically address the refusal, premises on the fact that your circumstances changed and if it had not changed you may not have considered traveling after your husband didn't initially intend it.

You need to take them on squarely

Hello UK gurus in the house, please I'm at the verge of submitting my visa application. For the POF, my agent said I shouldn't bother that they'll get a government sponsorship letter for me. I'm really curious about the authenticity of this letter. Kindly advice me. Thank you.

Why use an agent when you can read through threads here? This doesn't seem well and might result to 10 years ban.

Get all the necessary documents from him and confirm its authenticity before submission

You are curious about your own application? Is the government sponsoring you? If the government is not sponsoring you, your agent is putting you into big problem.

The letter is most likely fake and can put you in trouble.

Do not use an agent. You can do everything yourself.

Good morning here please I will like to ask a question does 4 million is okay and enough to show on closing balance as at the time applying for UK visiting visa also all this documents is it okay to present for application 1 year statement of accounts my salary was increase twice during this 1 year, fixed deposit with some amount of 1 million, treasure bill 350k, marriage certificate, CAC certificate to show that I also have a personal business I'm running aside of my salary work, my boss I work for is sending an invite he hold a British passport 1 year payslip and then leave letter. But I use my savings salary account for my personal business transaction as well I will like to hear from gurus if all this are good to go or if I will need additional documents thanks.
N4M is fine - if that is all that you genuinely have.

You don't need statement for one year. Max 6 months. Same thing for payslips.

1M fixed deposit is not much but it's something. Same for the treasury bills. Add your marriage certificate.

Your personal business will cause a lot of confusion that can lead to a denial. Why don't you seperate your personal and business accounts? It has been reiterated many times on this platform.

Your boss' invitation letter will not add any value.

If your account is not clean, do not proceed. Mixing your personal and business transactions is a disaster waiting to happen.

Dear all,

I'm trying to help my aunt prep for application, Your answers and any input will be really appreciated please.

My aunt works for our family business since 2022. Her salary is currently 320k per month . Now she wants to visit to the UK later in the year with some other family members who have visas already. Her brothers are happy to pay her flight ticket, no issues there.
She is mid 40s, isn't married and has no child, so no real family ties.
She will stay in my house so I'm going to be taking care of accommodation and feeding.

She has been denied twice dec 2020 and Jan 2021 due to the fact she we said she was unemployed in the 1st app (family was sponsoring 100%), and we tried to change to self employed in the 2nd app. (she was in fact self employed informally, as in not cac registered and her income was irregular hence our reason)

I'm wondering what to advise on her application now, .... I'm thinking it may be better to have her sponsor herself or at least sponsor her flight at the minimum.
Obviously, as it's a family business, we can decide to increase her salary so that she can have a healthy balance for her application..

My questions are:

1. [s]For how long should her bank statement be[/s]? Edit I have seen that 2 to 3 months is fine - 6 months is ok
2. What should be a reasonable salary and bank balance for self sponsorship? - There is no answer to this. You want to work towards the anwer and it might back fire...
3. We want to put a 3wk visit, hope that is fine? - Please reduce this to 10 days or 2 weeks.
4. How much is OK to indicate she will spend on flight ticket? I don't think it should be too high compared to her salary but not so low that it will be impossible. - Minimum ticket should be about N1.2M or thereabout. You can check wakanow or ajala.ng
5. How early before her trip can she apply? - 3 months I think.
6. Her only strong tie so far is her job, any advice on how to make a strong case for return Nija for her? - Aged parents, religious activities, property can work as ties...

Thanks for your input

Thank you for your insight please can you talk more on family ties? Are you referring to having family members in the uk or Nigeria? Which aspect are they keen on?

kel4soft:
I guess you meant the UK home office interview? Yes! It happens online but at the UK visa centre and not your home. However, you'll be given ample time to prepare. Make sure you are conversant of the organisation you have applied for especially their postal code. Secondly, accommodation is another strong point. Is your sponsor providing any and whats the postcode?
Do you have any family member over here?
Charity visa which is a tier 5 one is not expected to earn wages or salaries but stipends to cover groceries. This is where family ties comes in.

I have noticed, if you have a travel history to any of the developed world. Interview will be waved.

Hello Cashmadam and all the gurus in the house. I applied for a dependent visa (partner) and was asked to submit additional documents for proof that we have met in person and subsisting relationship evidence last Sunday which i did.
I got another email today requesting "Evidence supporting the divorce of your sponsor, and any previous spouses". He has never been married.
I am a widow and I submitted my late husband's death certificate with my documents uploaded during application.
How do i go about this please?

Interrogate him well to understand if actually he has never been married. Because they see everything in their system

Hi, I'm just reading through various bits of this thread to update my knowledge and be able to advise a relative.
I didn't know the Home Office contacts banks now...
Do they contact in all cases and do you know what details they verify?
I'm guessung it will be best to not carry out any transactions that will significantly change the account balance during the visa application period...
They could contact one’s banks, offices etc. I do not know their quota and who could be flagged up for checks.

Kindly help with insight @giselle237 and Cashmadam.

I applied for visit visa, ECO singled out my employers account balance and erroneously claim it was low by assuming the account was a Naira account, when it was clearly stated on face of the statement that the account is domiciled in USD(this was stated in my LOE). My own balance is actually more than 1k USD, i only added employer’s account as this is a work sponsored trip.

My immigration history, i just returned from the US last month and going back next month, facts which were submitted, I have 10yr canadian visa, i have sent email to home office, but my concern is the generic email response i got from UKVI for the paid mail, but i really want to correct this error as this is my second refusal, i had first refusal last year b4 US, Canada and Schengen Visa. So i am not about to just let this slide, i want to understand the PAP process please.

Yes, Corporate Account.
If they're based in Nigeria, then their operating account should actually be funded in the local currency of the country they operate in, that's the ideal.

Hence, the mistake by the ECO
CCECC and Berger are from China and Germany. But they get paid in Naira and can then transfer funds for repatriation.

I'm sure your company executing contracts or jobs in Nigeria, must have a Naira account

I will advise you to reapply while submitting all the same documents used in the initial application. In addition to that endeavour to address the reason for the refusal comprehensively. Make sure you highlight all the points and bring to the attention of the visa officer the mistake the previous officer made.

Family members in UK, that's their interest. Since the visa cannot allow you work. They believe you will need someone like your sibling or partner who is already there that will accommodate you. The said person must put this in writing in acover letter including attaching their council tax. However, if you are planning to come with a dependant (whom ironically can work as they like) as tier 5 allows that. You will also need to state it too. This will strengthened your financial stability but offcourse that first few weeks of arrival - you will need to let them where you will living and who is picking you up at the airport.
