Pls I need some advise , recently I was given a 221(g) form for my H1b interview. The consular discovered that the petitioner on her system is different from what is in i797b approval. Then she noted some documents I need to come with on my 221g form to summit at the iOS service centre where my original transcript is part of the documents. Though I HV all these documents she asked me to bring. My question is that will these documents be returned BK to me cos of dt original transcript ? What can I do?
Hello, could you please provide an update on this issue and indicate if or how it has been resolved? I know someone who is also experiencing the same problem. Thanks

It's an administrative issue, ask the person if he/she was denied outrightly which I believe he can't be denied. I'm sure he would be given a 221(g) form.

Thanks for your reply, he wasn’t denied outrightly but has been stuck now for well over 6 months and the status still says refused. No communication all these while.

the person Should email the embassy about his/her status they will definitely reply he or she if they need more document … which embassy is that

The employer will mail the USCIS, forward same mail to the embassy, I can tell you they will respond and apologize to the employer. Gather all what is required in the 221(g) and go and submit to the ois.
Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by kennisman(m): 2:25am On Jun 14, 2025
But that 6 months, I dunno about that because 221(g) is treated within 100days.

What path did you guys take to relocate to the USA? (Aside from student visa/marriage). I’m nigerian with a UK citizenship looking to relocate to the U.S, but genuinely don’t know where to start

You can start with employment based visas
Search for EB visas online there about 4 or 5 different types..i have an intro guide for student and EBvisa link in my signnature.

You can also comsider L1 which is also work related, kinda like cross posting if you work for a company that has business in the US.
2 of my uk citizen friends came that way. Got permanent residency after applying a few years later.

Share your profile in other to know what way to suggest. But the reality is either j1,h1b,EB, or L1

Research the E-1 and E-2 visas. I think they are more for entrepreneurs.
Re: Living In The USA - Life Of An Immigrant Part 1 by JohnZak:
In addition to what others have said, O-1 visa is another option depending on your skills and education. This type of visa requires a job offer.

EB-2 NIW is another route that leads to permanent residency and does not require a job offer. EB1-A also. It factors in your skills, achievements, and education.

Of course, the Trump card remains an option if you have $5 mill to spare.

If you're applying for same class of visa as the one just expired and it expires less than 12 months.

Good morning gurus in the house. I paid for my green card in December 2024 before relocating to the US. The status of my green card hasn’t changed from “Payment received….”.

I have been in the US since January and there’s no news/update on the status of my green card. Few months ago, whenever I submit an inquiry, they will say it’s “within the processing time” so I cannot submit an inquiry.

But for 2 weeks now, I have been unable to submit an inquiry…it will just show this message “The form submitted for this case is not available for this tool. For more information, call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283 or 1-800-767-1833 (TDD for the hearing impaired).”

Does anyone have any information on how I can go about this? Whenever I chat with them, they refer me to the website and it is very frustrating.

Isn't there a direct means you can contact them maybe through an email or a phone call?

I know a Nairalander that just got his Green card yesterday less than a month he landed in the US.

If your case is outside the processing time, you may want to call USCIS and speak with a live person.

When the call connects, mention "infopass". It should transfer the call to an agent and you can ask your questions.

Come through school- Nursing, start completing your prerequisites now and apply to nursing colleges for the Spring 2026 session. With an ADN or BSN in nursing science, employers can sponsor a green card application for you and your family in the US.

If you are currently in the H-1B visa pool, encourage your spouse to start nursing school, as community colleges are often more affordable. This is a reliable path to obtaining a green card in the US.

The same applies to you! Since you already have a bachelor's degree, look for an accelerated program(18months) in Nursing, fulfill prerequisite requirements, and apply. One of many paths to a green card!
