Everybody is talking abouy Gift Monday. .
What did Gift Monday do to NFF this time?
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by TheSuperNerd(m): 10:42pm On Jun 20, 2025
For me, considering all present injuries, form and more, it is a very solid Super Falcons 24-woman list.

But the exclusion of Gift Monday stuns indeed. I AM FLABBERGASTED at her absence from the list. Ordega should say her last hurrah at this Wafcon and hopefully do so with a bang.

In any case, I trust the attack is strong enough to make up for that absence.

#SoarSuperFalcons.

Reading other Facebook comments from Malawians and they are really pained about this.

Someone commented saying their FA is very unserious because he couldn’t understand why the FA would think a Chioma Okafor (probably Mr Ibu’s daughter) is a Malawian 🤣🤣

Nollywood really exposed Nigeria to Africa, chai.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 12:05am On Jun 21, 2025
The young lady IS Malawian - she speaks their local language fluently.
The Malawian FA touted her as the future of their women's football team, only for Nigeria to hijack the process.
This was quite a major coup by Nigeria. Can fully understand the Malawians being pissed off.

- Madugu has done well with this list..

- Gift Monday is the Victor Boniface of the Super Falcons, so make we all calm down on the matter abeg.

- Ordega is being given her last hurrah, something Onome should have done graciously. Watch Franny sign out on a high!

- Chioma Okafor is a beast. Our own Anas Yusuf!

- The midfield and attack is solid enough. No emotions about this, Oshoala must not be allowed to start, she is better off playing from the bench where she can add impact based on experience.

- Ijamilusi is also another player that can prove her mettle. Sad that Mercy Omokwo had injury issues earlier in the year, it would have been nice to see how NWFL sensations are getting better representation in the S/Falcons.

- Our midfield combo is crucial to the results we will get, so they need to get the right fixes for us, else Mission X go turn to Demotion Z 😎

What on earth are you talking abouthuh

For the record, Gift is NO Boniface. She actually scores and contributes to the betterment of the team. Your analogy is completely off the mark.
Ordega WAS given a last hurrah in the olympics and it was obvious she was piss poor. She has absolutely ZERO business being on this squad and will be a flop again. Last hurrah my hinny.
Ijami-who? Dude, you have no clue about what you're talking here. This one will be another flop. Slow, unintelligent player who has no business being on the team.

This sadly isn't peculiar to Ordega, it's a Nigerian problem. Culturally, Nigerians hardly resign on principle and find it hard to retire too. The current IG of police is past his due retirement, but laws were circumvented to keep him there. Buhari did same for some of his folks. Onome still hasn't officially retired, Ahmed Musa who is clueless is still looking for a way back to the Super Eagles.

The few examples of those who retire (particularly early) in our national teams are those who weren't raised in Nigeria. Victor Moses retired from the National team at 25. Oderah Chidom retired from the D'tigress at 29 on principle. You can be sure Ordega isn't looking at r to retiring, and giving the current climate she'll keep getting callups.

On the women’s game Stella Mbachu announced that she will be retiring after the 2014 WAFCON in Namibia and she retired after winning the WAFCON..

Perpetua Nkwocha and Precious Dede said the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup was their last for Nigeria and they brilliantly retired after the 2015 World Cup

Desire Oparanozie announced her retirement after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/NZL..

What’s wrong with the likes of Onome Ebi, Tochukwu Oluehi, Rita Chikwelu, Franny Ordega and Co following same path when they know fully well that they ain’t up there again in the pecking order..

No one is forcing anyone to retire but know when to leave when the ovation is on the low side.. Is not difficult following the path of Mbachu, Nkwocha and Co.

She’s probably more Malawian due to the fact she was born and raised there before moving to the US…

Again it was going to be difficult to turn down Nigeria among any African countries when the offer is there..

Chioma Okafor is a big catch for us.. She brings that raw speed, Speed the likes of Chawinga sisters, Banda, Clara Luvanga and Kundananji have coupled with her deadly left foot…

I can see comments on the media saying Nigeria now have their own Chawinga/Banda, I was just laughing because it’s the truth😂😂😂

The men's side has these examples too. Joseph Yobo announced his retirement, with a novelty match played in Port Harcourt. Vincent Enyeama did same though unceremoniously as did a few others. They however are the exception and not the rule.

You are just being emotional over nothing. Gift Monday hasn't exactly delivered for the Super Falcons. Speak with facts and not emotions.

As for me, I don't belong to the school of thought that loves suggesting to sportspeople how and when to retire. Time will always tell and retire them effectively. Atimes we forget that life after playing sports is something these people actually can't fathom and as such not everyone approaches with a particular mindset. E no easy o, make we no dey deceive ourselves. Not all of our most prominent global icons chose how and when to retire. Time took/takes charge.

Ijamilusi slow? Oh well...I guess we have players with variegated weaknesses, similar to how their strengths are.

Let's just support the choices of the coach and move on...no list would ever be perfect for all. Kapish!?

Ordega was not at the Olympics. She somewhat sneaked her way into the WorldCup 2023. That was her last tournament.

When it comes to invitation list as far as Nigerian football is concerned, perfection is an illusion.

Gutted that Gift couldn't make the list (but ordega who has nothing to offer did) but no need dwelling on that

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the coach utilizes this crop of players.

His (Madugu) major problem will be the Combination in Midfield.. who will he play, he likes Abiodun very much but will Ayinde back.

Is tough oo

I think a very fit Ayinde is one player in the Super Falcons Midfield that must start. Ucheibe plays better alongside Ayinde in Midfield and i hope he understands that too..

Yeah... Ucheibe, Ayinde and Deborah are worthy starters but only two can start with Tony and Onyi battling for the last spot. That's a big headache for him.

I really hope it's an upward trajectory for Usani (the crying baby) from here. Defensively solid and strong. And I hope Imuran fights and get her place back.

And the Small Chioma Okafor of a girl can as well be her Substitute to come in with her pace and power to run over already tired defenders from the Left Wing…

She’s left footed but uses both feet’s effectively.!

But again we shouldn’t forget Okoronkwo is there too, but who will start as no.9 at the WAFCON. Is going to be physical so ain’t starting Onumonu either.
ihezuo is the starter for the number 9 position

End of an era I guess. Referenced her here a few days ago, sad that this is happening, but won't blame her for prioritising herself ahead of the incompetence that pervades the Nigerian sports ecosystem

This stings even more than the former Ebele Agbapuonwu and Francis Obikwelu.

This babe was the future of Nigerian sprinting.

I hope Oga Madugu use the 4-2-3-1 formation used by Randy in the past.., Because this formation plays two Central Defensive Midfielders, an attacking midfielder in between two fast wide forwards, and a Center forward. It's known for its defensive stability, midfield control, and ability to transition quickly between defense and attack..

And i think the kind of Midfielders we have favours this 4-2-3-1 formation a lot..
