hello everyone. please i need advice. i want to use my neco result for visa application but firstly, there is a misspelling on the name on the neco result and i have always used an affidavit for that. Recently, i realized the date of birth on my neco result is different from the one on my passport, is it okay to make an affidavit for that too and will two different affidavits be accepted?
Since the two mistakes that you want to correct are on the said neco result, let the new affidavit capture the mistakes.

Hello !

I am currently waiting for my CAS. So once I receive it, the next steps will be to apply and submit my student visa application documents online? Followed by booking a biometric appointment?

I need to find out the latest available biometric appointment at VFS Lagos, as I must complete my biometric before July 28, 2025, as the 31-day rule is a crucial aspect of the financial requirements for a UK Student visa.

Thank you !

Yes, there are still some opportunities in the UK but potential students need to position themselves strategically with the current reality on ground.

As it stands with the new immigration changes, it's better to be a tiler or floorer than project manager in the UK. Information is key, and know what course you want to study or the skills you have.

Please I am not saying project manager is bad. I am just using this as an example. There are many other courses that look good that have been removed and there are some other skills that often looks bad that are not in the list

You can verify or ask from Chatgpt as shown in the screenshot

A biometric appointment is not an issue, as you can pay for a priority appointment.

Fred2020:
There’s a lot of good in the UK — if you can find your feet in the labour market.
Forget the stories people post about the UK being all about bills and struggle. Yes, the cost of living is real, but with a good job and some discipline, you can achieve a lot here.

People actually buy houses (yes, on mortgage) within just two years — there’s even a mortgage thread on Nairaland that proves this. If I decided to focus purely on saving, I could probably buy a decent house in Lagos with just a year or two’s savings from here.

What’s worth noting, though, is that the UK job market isn’t as buoyant as it was just a short while ago.
Even more concerning is the government's clear agenda: a sharp reduction in net migration.

They’re not necessarily targeting student visas themselves — they understand and value the revenue international students bring into the economy. But the real strategy lies in what comes after the degree.

Instead of reducing student numbers, they’re making it significantly harder for students to stay and transition into work or residency. New policies are being designed to place serious hurdles in the path of those hoping to remain after their studies.

In essence: “Come, study, spend — but don’t expect to stay.”

Another thing to keep in mind is that it now costs at least twice as much — if not more — to move to the UK compared to just 3 or 4 years ago.
But despite the higher cost associated with the move now, the chances of settling in successfully have dropped due to stricter immigration policies and the current economic and political climate.

In short: higher investment, lower certainty. That’s the reality for many trying to move now.

For example, this week. The government announces its intention to raise the minimum skilled worker pay from 38K to £41K. That additional 3K would be the reason some job opportunities would go off the table for migrants seeking job sponsorship. To put this in perspective, median pay in the UK is just about £31K. Such moves have real implications for migrants seeking sponsored jobs.

& more hurdles are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The bottom line is that there are still positives in the UK, but access to assessing them is now restricted.
Nice one bro!! Please how will these laws affect dependent ( for those going from Mres and dependent)?

Where's the best center to do the TB Test for a non Lagos resident?

Benin is closest but they don't have a functional phone number for any inquiry. If you have used Benin IOM for TB Test, please drop how you made payment and recommend any good hotel you stayed/ saw.

Lagos; if you used the Lagos IOM, please recommend the one that gave you almost no stress and how you went about it.

It depends on the specific provision.

Generally, the provisions typically affects dependant only to the extend they are seeking a skill worker visa. If they are dependant on the other applicant's visa, they are not usually affected.

Anything that affects the main applicant will ultimately apply to the dependant. I think the part where dependant is of use is while main applicant can't switch to another visa while studying, the dependant can. So during the duration of study, dependant could be fortunate to get sponsorship somewhere though definitely not in Care job.
The ultimate target of all is to get a legal stay after conclusion of studies. Usual practice was that students and dependents get sponsorship in Care to settle in the UK. Now that route is truncated due to this immigration update.
Another route is getting a skilled worker visa but the minimum wage to get sponsored with this has been reviewed upward to about 41k pounds, that's almost unrealistic for a young graduate to earn except maybe u are a doctor.
The Temporary shortage list is also there for people with certain vocational skills and one stands a chance to get sponsored if u possess them.
However, all these changes don't really affect u if u secure a job with an NHS Trust that is ready to sponsor u. Though u need to be working with any organisation for at least 3 months before u can be sponsored by them.

We hope they relax the policies before the new set of students entering the UK conclude their studies. That's all we can pray for.

Before there was care, people arrived in the UK as students and settled in. I believe this matter is being excessively discussed. Those who think they will fail after spending N20m+ to relocate is their luck but others will find a way and remain permanently after studies.

Before care, people came in on visit visa and overstayed illegally. That was what was in vogue then and people still do it. They would later after years, some decades find ways to legalise their stays which isn't even possible again now. Good thing about the UK is even if u are an illegal migrant, your children still get to go to school, no one will probe them.
Moreso, let's act like educated folks, update on immigration policy was merely shared and someone asked a question and answer was provided. No one is saying u shouldn't move to the UK.

I'd expected you to make your findings on how people used to do it back then and not just jump on impulsivity, that's why we are literates.

I don't see your post as trying to discourage people.
