Ashleigh Plumptre was definitely the woman of the match, for me. Her touches, her passes, her crosses, her movement and her positioning were all on point.

This is one of the best matches I've seen her play for the Falcons. Superb performance from a very technical player.

That lady really showed her class with Okonwo. The two of them were superb.
Falcon need to be more clinical in front of goal, they wasted many of their chances today

I think a combination of Ucheibe and Ayinde always gives our midfield stability.

"Ashleigh had missed and Asisat was just behind her" - Desire Oparanozie.
Another quote "That goal should have stand".

Overall, good job by Desire. I hope she has intentions of getting a coaching license. I feel she would make a good coach.

She did better than Ikpeba to be honest. I think it’s anxiety though because Oparanozie doesn’t make those mistakes on her channel.

This game needed an Esther Oyenezide in midfield.

Ask yourself who she'll have replaced in the squad
Is it Ayinde, Abiodun or Ucheibe?

Woman of the match

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by ekehopp2: 7:52pm On Jul 06, 2025
Easy win to be honest. We played much better second half, though we scored more goals first half.
The only thing definite today is that Asisat Oshoala shouldn't start a game again. Esther Okoronkwo and Ihezuo offered more bite and mobility upfront.

Seriously I will want to see Chioma Okafor play. Our bench is really rich.

Definitely Abiodun in my opinion. Ucheibe and Ayinde already offers that defensive midfield cover and they are more mature in their tackles than Abiodun. Esther Oyenezide knows how to keep possession and keep the attack going from the midfield. Her only weakness is that she always wants to shoot even from distance which can be managed by the coach.

She is in another level... Her intelligence, passes, crosses, touches and decision making were superb.

Am I the only one frustrated by the frequent blow from the refs for simple nudges (specifically by Ihezuo)..

Shey those opponents no chop come field ni?

She is not good enough.

Very very impressive commentary run by Desire Oparanozie.
From knowledge of the game and diction, I was in awe.
Really proud of her debut as a commentator.
A billion times better than Rachel Ajegba and Ikpeba who were mediocre, to say the least.
Big ups to Desire 👍🏾👍🏾

Algerians have some good football technique.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:33pm On Jul 06, 2025
Puhlease!
Keep what possession? She is not good enough.
This is certainly NOT under 20 football. This is senior women’s football and she doesn’t have what it takes to play at this level. That is the reason she is not here, even when she was given many more opportunities than Abiodun. She is poor at defending and does not have the lungs to play at this level.

I think they saw they could manipulate the referee with it, so they just fired on.
The Plumptre goal also was actually a goal.
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by AkinDS: 8:36pm On Jul 06, 2025
For me, the poorest player on the field was Christy Ucheibe.
Horrible passes all day long since she entered the field. I mean, not a single good pass ! Kept turning the ball over.

Worst performance I have seen from her.

She also had that problem against Portugal. This is unlike her.

Wait oo. Na this same Algeria we beat 4-1 for Abeokuta?

Their game here against Botswana has been pure dominance. I’m pleasantly surprised because Botswana got to the quarterfinals the last time.

Their no 11 with hijab is a good player.

Yea Yea... Nice point there. Could be manipulation truly

Very nice goal by Plumptre.. Disallowing that goal is criminal
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 9:09pm On Jul 06, 2025
True: However, Deborah Abiodun offers more energy which is needed in our midfield. We rely on two DM's most times in our formation and in case of an injury, Deborah will step in. We all know Ayinde is injury prone

Shouldn't commentators be mostly neutral?
Dunno why Ex-Nigerian players Amokachi, Desire Oparanozie etc when they get a chance on an international stage can't stay professional.
